Ok, I’m probably over excited by the prospect of having gotten this book in the mail this morning but I don’t care. LOL. I am excited and I’m very excited to read it too! The book is called The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry. I received it after putting my name in for a copy over at Book Club Girl. What an awesome blog she has! I love it!
This book sounds so good. From the cover:
Every gift has a price . . .
Every piece of lace has a secret . . .
My name is Towner Whitney. No, that’s not exactly true. My real first name is Sophya. Never believe me. I lie all the time. . . .
Towner Whitney, the self-confessed unreliable narrator of The Lace Reader, hails from a family of Salem women who can read the future in the patterns in lace, and who have guarded a history of secrets going back generations, but the disappearance of two women brings Towner home to Salem and the truth about the death of her twin sister to light.
The Lace Reader is a mesmerizing tale that spirals into a world of secrets, confused identities, lies, and half-truths in which the reader quickly finds it’s nearly impossible to separate fact from fiction, but as Towner Whitney points out early on in the novel, “There are no accidents.”
Doesn’t it sound great! I’ve already started reading it and will say that from the first page I was already hooked on the story. I’ll have a review up in the next few days or less I would say.
Thanks again go out to the Book Club Girl!
Congrats on the book! I’ll look forward to your review. The description sounds so interesting.
How fun! I’ve won 2 books in other blogger’s drawings, and it is so exciting!
Your excitement is contagious! I’m jumping up and down waiting for you to finish so you can send it to me 🙂
Ohhh! This sounds like a great great read! I will have to add it to my list.
It is always so much fun to win books and whenever one comes in the mail it is just like Christmas!!
I am waiting for my copy ro come in the mail. Mail delivery must be Turtle Express in SC ( Ha, Ha,).
Can’t wait to read mine too.
I don’t know if this is proper etiquette. But, I just started a reading/book club blog. I have your blog linked to my blog. I was wondering if you would check out my site. I just started a month ago. Would you add me to your blog roll if you like what you see. I visit you every couple days and I enjoy reading your blog. Unfortunately, blogger doesn’t have a contact me or I would email you. my blog is 38thavedivareaders.blogspot.com.
Thanks,
Susan
I’ve had this one on my shelf for awhile and still haven’t read it. I’m going to have to get to it.
