So, here we are at What’s On Your Nightstand? for August and I’m ashamed to say my nightstand hasn’t changed much from this:
(yes, it is basically the same as last time)…
Unfortunately with some added books and only a couple gone from the pile. I did finish Sweetsmoke and gave up on Atlas. The problem that always happens is that I get all these great books in between that I want to read and my pile stays the same.
So, here are the additions and I think this is all of them although I can’t be sure.
- Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
- Immortal by Traci L. Slatton
- Lady Chatterly’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence
- Schooled by Anisha Lakhani
- Last Night I Dreamed of Peace by Dang Thuy Tram
- The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
- The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar
- Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
- Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
- Faces of Fear by John Saul
And to top it off there are a few books in the mail from Mini Book Expo on the way…lol.
So, what about you, have you managed to do a better job than I have of ridding your nightstand of books?
Ha ha ha ha ha. Ridding myself of books from the TBR pile? That’s a joke right?
Yup, it’s a joke and it’s a darn good one too, isn’t it?
I’m really looking forward to reading Half of a Yellow Sun with the book group! And you have to read The Book Thief soon! I keep passing it on because it is so fantastic.
I’m dying to read Sweetsmoke! I am hoping to get my hands on a copy soon!! What did you think about it?
Well, I did read most of my books from last month, but like you I kept adding and adding as well.
I’ve been meaning to read the Book Thief.
Trish, I’m excited to read that as well. We’ll be starting soon and I still haven’t finished Great Expectations. Yikes.
Laura, I loved Sweetsmoke. It was awesome. Check out my review on my blog.
Congrats on getting most of yours read Jennifer. lol on the adding though-isn’t that the way with us book lovers.
Heh heh look like mine too:)I am dying to read Sweetsmoke too, I got to sponser the giveaway but not get a copy myself:O
Ah Tracy, that doesn’t seem fair at all. You should have at least gotten a copy out of it. It’s such a great book.
I have Saul’s book too! 🙂
Dar, I’ve been wanting to read The Book Thief for months now. I will look forward to reading your review, and knowing if you like it as much as everyone else has!
I should be getting Immortal any day now. Are you participating in Jennifer’s online discussion?
J.Kaye, I finished it the other day. I’ve got to get my review up. I liked it.
Shana, I really want to read The Book Thief, now it’s just to find the time. Yes, I’m participating in Jennifer’s online discussion-are you? I think it’ll be fun and the book sounds great.
i agree with trish.. you HAVE to read the book thief first! it is amazing and i totally loved it!:) i go around asking everyone i know to read it!
i have a half-read pile on my nightstand and a HUGE list of books i want to read sometime in my life!:) i guess that list is never ending..i can NEVER finish reading all the books i want to!
Ramya, I completely agree. There is no way I can possibly read all the books I have in my bookshelves, by my bed and elsewhere in my lifetime. Why is it then that we keep acquiring more then? It’s a sickness-I’m sure it is. lol.
The Book Thief is awesome. One of the few books that really got me so emotionally involved that it moved me to tears. Another is The Hunger Games which I just read and will post a review of on Friday.
You too Lenore. So many of you have loved The Book Thief. I really need to fit it in somewhere.
