What’s on Your Nightstand – July

August 4, 2008 by Darlene

I found out about this monthly carnival posting of What’s on Your Nightstand? over at J.Kaye’s Book Blog and it sounded like fun so here I am posting about it.

The guidelines are simple:
*Write a post on your own blog (or feel free to play along in the comments if you don’t have a blog).
*You can simply post a picture, or tell us how and when these books got into your to-be-read pile, or give a mini-review of the books in progress.
*Link up to this post (please use the permalink that will take us directly to that post, not the main page of your blog).
*Read around through the links and find out “What’s on Their Nightstand?”

If you’d like to join in the fun, you can sign up here.
So, here is my pic of what’s on my nightstand right now:

So, on the left is the books I should be getting through this month-did you see the size of Atlas Shrugged??? That novel is huge. The one’s on the right are some for upcoming challenges and others that I’ve been meaning to read for a long time and need to be gotten to one day soon. On top of this I have a few more that need to be reviewed that are going to have to go to the top of the pile. Now, if this was it, things wouldn’t be so bad but there’s a bookshelf in my living room full of TBR books too. However, these are the piles I need to get out of the way first. I’ve got a list of library books on order but I’m going to have to slap my hands when it comes to that-I need to read what I own instead of bringing more books home from there. Then again, there’s my wishlist at Chapters which is a mile long so there will be more new books coming into the house one day soon anyhow.
Yikes!!! Yup, I’m severly addicted to buying books and books and more books…
The next monthly carnival will be August 26 so I’m really hoping to have some of these taken off the piles before then and new ones added of course. LOL.
So, what’s on your nightstand?

That’s not so bad, but “Atlas Shrugged” is truly a HUGE book…lol!

I only keep the book I am currently reading on my nightstand, because if there is a stack, my cat will knock it off.

J.Kaye, that Atlas Shrugged is over 1000 pages. I’m reading it for both my book club and the Classics Challenge-wowser is all I can say on that one. Have you ever ventured to read it?

Lenore, too cute about your cat. Thankfully my dog is good around the tables and such although if I have a book on my lap he will lay across it to get my attention. lol.

Atlas Shrugged scares me. Good luck reading it. I’ve thought about picking it up a couple of times over the years and actually had a garage sale copy at one point but got rid of it because I never thought I really read it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on A Page of My Life. I really want to read that book but my library doesnt have a copy and I’m not up to buying any new books yet (new as in from the bookstore new).

Bree, I’m ashamed to admit I’ve given up on Atlas Shrugged for now. I just can’t get into it. So, I’ve laid it aside for a bit. I’ll probably go back to it one day but not for now.
