Booking Through Thursday

September 18, 2008 by Darlene

Autumn is starting (here in the US, anyway), and kids are heading back to school–does the changing season change your reading habits? Less time? More? Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?

Well autumn is definitely here in Canada. The leaves are turning and the air is chilly. Time to bring out the winter duds already.

I do a lot of reading in the summer, maybe even more than the winter because with winter comes some of the new shows that I keep track of and the holidays. However, on a cold day when it’s just snowed or there is blizzard type weather going on and the roads are slikkery, I stay in and curl up with my snuggly blanket and a book.

Do I read different books in the summer than the winter-I don’t think so. I’ll still pick whatever appeals to me or what needs to be reviewed and read it. I guess though in the winter the urge to pick up a good chunkster to get into does appeal to me.

What about you-do your reading habits change with the seasons? Do you find yourself picking different books in the summer than the winter? Share your thoughts with me…

I don’t really notice a change in my reading throughout the year. I average about the same each month give or take a book, but it will be difficult to battle with the TV once all the shows start up again. The writer’s strike was kind of a blessing last year.

Post some pictures of the leaves turning!! We don’t get that down here and I miss it.

Funny you should mention that Trish. I was thinking of taking a pic of the leaves outside for the blog. Most of the trees in my neighborhood just turn yellow although the one tree in our backyard turns some really nice colors-it just hasn’t started yet. So, hang in there, there will be pics soon.

No change in the book habits, but I’m ready to make soup!

So far I’m reading about the same amount.

I’m like you, though, there are a few shows I try to keep up with.

Especially Brothers and Sisters. I hope it returns this season.

    Softdrink, me too! And bread.

I didn’t even think about that – autumn/winter starts a good amount of TV that I enjoy watching. So I guess in that sense, I do have less time in the winter!

Shana, B&S is coming back-I just can't remember when but sometime in the next few weeks. I like that show too.

Swapna, I really wish there weren't so many good shows starting but I'm going to limit what I watch. It's too easy to get involved with too many of them and then the good things like reading fall behind.
