Good Morning to you All

September 29, 2008 by Darlene

Hi everyone, as you all know Fall has come to Alberta and it’s pretty cool here. It’s already the kind of weather where you when you get dressed you put on socks, pants and a few extra layers. Soon, the flurries will start and then the snow. The only one extremely excited by that prospect is Buddy, my dog. He loves the snow and I’ll make sure to share some pics of him and the snow when it gets here especially when I make him wear his booties. It gets too cold here to let dogs out without them.

Anyhow, I’m getting off my topic here. Imagine my surprise, when in this cooler weather, one of our flowering plants finally decides to bloom. I was ecstatic-this beautiful last piece of summer still going strong. We are taking very good care of it-putting it in the garage at night to keep it from frost. So I thought I would share it with all of you. It’s such a beautiful color and so bright, just a perfect way to combat the fall blues and preserve a piece of the summer season that I’m already missing.

    Gorgeous!

And I’m sure buddy will love his snowy romps! I have a pic of Skye and Max from after a huge March storm that I’ll have to post sometime. I call it “Snow Shark.”

What a gorgeous photo. I cannot believe Sept. is already passing us by!

    Thanks Yasmin-you too!

Lezlie, I’d love to see the pic. Most little dogs hate the snow but not mine. He has a blast.

Serena-I know! I can’t believe that it will be October this week. Where did the summer go??? Pretty soon Halloween will be upon us.

What a beautiful shade of red! This is my time of year, sweater weather. But, like you, I know the winter snow will be here soon. We had record snow amounts last winter. For now, I’ll enjoy Autumn.

We got dinged a few times last year with some heavy snowfall. I’m hoping for a brown winter I call it. lol. I wouldn’t mind it so much if it didn’t get so cold and slikkery.

    Thanks Joy and Nymeth 🙂

Wow, in July Toni. We planted ours in March I think it was. It took forever. Don’t they have to be planted each winter.

I just noticed that I forgot to take the stick out for my pic. Fiddlesticks. Oh well, it’s still gorgeous.

    Dar,

What a beautiful flower, thanks for sharing its beauty with us!

Does it really snow this early in Alberta?! We are just turning into Fall weather here and I’m not ready for Winter yet.

It’s been known to snow as early as October-yes. By the end for sure. We had the threat of flurries a while back already. Yikes.

Such a beautiful picture! Thanks for posting it! I might have to snag it for my desktop. 🙂

    I’d be protecting it too!

Jennifer, I did put it on my desktop. The only thing I’m thinking is taking another today without the stick we stuck in to keep it standing. Somehow I didn’t notice that when I took the pic-I guess I was too blinded by the flower. lol.

    Thanks Shana 🙂

Oh, what a beautiful color! Especially the nice fall orange. 🙂 We don’t have fall in Texas–not in the traditional sense, but hubby and I are going to New England next weekend to hopefully see some of the colors. I don’t miss the cold, but I do miss the beauty of fall.

How pretty! I love the color! Can you please send some cooler weather my way? It is still in the 80s here in Texas, and I really want it to feel more like fall.

Trish, I took a pic of our apple tree today and another one a ways down the road. I’ll post them tomorrow for you. lol.

Laura, I’d love to send the cool weather to you! We’re lucky right now, we’re having a couple days of nice weather. I’m sure taking advantage of it because I’m pretty sure this is the last of it for a good long while.

    I like your new layout!

Isn’t it a great surprise to have fall flowers?! I have a small rose bush that has been giving me beautiful little pink tea roses for the past two weeks. Very nice contrast to the leaves turning color!

I just read Dawn’s comment about a “new layout”, so I had to come by and see. WOO HOO! Very cool, Dar.

Dawn, we have a little tea rose bush that’s been doing the same thing. The flowers are still perfect. I love the fall flowers-summer holding on just a little while longer. You’re right though, we have the apple tree turning yellow and then the flowers still bright in color. Love it.

    Thanks Joy 🙂
