New Blog Look and some Fall Pics!

October 1, 2008 by Darlene

Hi everyone, I changed the look of my blog last night. I really wanted a 3-column layout because I have so much stuff on there now. I loved my old template and if I can ever figure out how to get it in 3-column I will change back. I do love this one too as my favorite colors are on it. I hope you all like it and I didn’t throw anyone off too much. lol.
Also, here are a couple of fall pics I promised to share with Trish as she misses the fall colors. I’m still waiting on one tree in our backyard as it is absolutely beautiful when it changes. Hope you all enjoy.
I’ve got some housekeeping-awards and such to catch up on today so there may be a few posts. Have a great day everyone!

WOW!! You guys have it much better than we do, it is all still green here….it feels like fall, but doesn’t look it at all. I love those pictures, fall is such a great time, it is my favourite baking season. yum.

Oh Dar.. Look at that.. the blog looks beautiful and the trees are lovely too. Welcome Fall.. our fall is a few weeks / month away… still pretty warm here in California. I love the blog! Good job.

Bethany, I miss the green already. Now, the baking is a good idea. I took some butter out for sugar cookies a while back-it may be time to make those.

    Dar,
I did a google search for “3 column blogger templates” and found one that showed you how to edit the HTML to create three columns in any blogger templates. It only took about 10 minutes to do. I was a little nervous since I’m not very comfortable with writing HTML, but it was pretty easy. I’ll see if I can find the link and I’ll email it to you.

Thanks Toni ๐Ÿ™‚ I’d love to have your weather all year round but you already know that!

Jenn, that would be awesome if you could find that. I would like to go back to my old one eventually. I really liked the simplicity of it although this one is too.

A fresh new look, I like it.

I like 3 column themes too, it’s easy to put on many things on the sidebars that way.

Thanks for popping in Violet. I agree, 3 columns makes it easier for people coming to your blog too if they’re looking for something.

Beautiful pics, Dar! You’ve definitely sparked envy thisaway. ๐Ÿ™‚ I like the new look–I really want to get rid of my green but don’t know how. ๐Ÿ™ I’m afraid I’ll lose all my formatting if I mess with it.

I love the idea of three columns, but I think it only works with one blogger template according to the guidelines I’ve seen and I dislike that template. LOL

I think your blog looks great.

Your blog looks great! I love the three column style because I find it easier to organize stuff then.

Beautiful trees too! I have been wanting to take a weekend and go to Cabot Trail, autumn is so gorgeous there ๐Ÿ™‚

Blue and green are my favorite colors so I like the new look! Nice pics, too. I like the idea of 3 columns as well. I may start experimenting one of these days…

Ramya, thanks for sending me that info -I appreciate it! I did spend too much time on it last night. lol.

Trish, I like the looks of your blog. I understand wanting a change though.

Serena, the site I had used had the changes for a couple of the minima templates and the two rounders ones. Maybe they’ll get more eventually.

Book Zombie, thanks. I keep meaning to get myself out into our river valley-you can get some beautiful pics there. A walk along the Trail would be gorgeous I imagine.

    Thanks Mary ๐Ÿ™‚

The blog looks great, Dar. I couldn’t do without 3 columns either. Even with it I have too much stuff on my sidebars, but I can’t seem to be able to cut back.

And the pictures are lovely ๐Ÿ™‚

Bonnie, Ramya sent me a link that I’ll send to you and so did Jenn. I’ll mail them to you in a sec and you can take a look. I’ll send you the one I used but it’s limited in the templates it has.

Nymeth, I love the design on your blog-the header and colors are awesome. I have too much stuff even with 3 columns. lol.

I use blogspot too but I didn’t see any 3 column templates. How did you do it?

  27. Dar says

    October 1, 2008 at 9:24 pm

Swapna, it really does give more room and I think looks better too. Glad you enjoyed the pics. I see I got my neighbors house in there too. lol.

Ti, I used this website for mine:

If anybody else is looking for a three-column Scribe template (which is the one I use), instructions on how to do it are here:
    http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/2007/07/three-columns-scribe-template.html
I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m thinking I might set up a dummy blog and try it on that first! (Of course, I will also back up my blog before I attempt this.) It looks a bit scary! And then I also want tabs, which I’ve recently seen somewhere…

  29. Dar says

    October 1, 2008 at 11:54 pm

Thanks Avis. Bonnie has the same template as you. That’s what I did-set up a dummy blog. No way I was going to fiddle around on mine until I knew it worked. Hmmmm, I like the tabs too-good way to keep organized.

I can’t thank you enough for the info on the 3 column layout. It took me a few attempts to get it right but I have 3 columns now! My colors are the same as yours but yours looks so much better. Mine is still a work in progress.
