2009 Read-Your-Own-Books Challenge

November 16, 2008 by Darlene

Well here’s another really great challenge that I’m going to join for 2009. It’s read-your-own-books and it runs from January 1-December 31, 2009. Also, it can overlap other challenges which is always helpful so what could be better! My books in my shelves keep getting pushed back because of everything new that’s coming in but no more. I’m going to make a point to read some of them and this is great too because you set your own goals. If you only want to read 10 of your own books, then that’s ok. I’ll be doing a separate post soon and put the button on my sidebar to link up to my list.

So, head on over and check it out. You can join in the fun here.

I think I’ll do this one as well, Dar! Although, I might make the stipulation to read books that have been sitting for a while! LOL.

I’m going to give this challenge a try. I think I need to consider a three column blog, though. Maybe in the new year. Thanks for the info, Dar.

I think I will too. I need some extra motivation to start reducing the tbr pile!

Trish, I think I’m going to do the same-make it so that it’s the older books on my shelf. There’s so many…

Mary, I’m so glad you’re going to join in another one. I couldn’t live without 3 columns now-lol.

Nymeth, glad you’re going to join in. I just keep thinking about how much I want to get to some of the books I have sitting so this is great. It’s going to be a good book year I think.

This sounds like a great challenge! You sound like me – I have piles of books, yet more and more keep finding there way to me (no complaints, by far, lol!!)

April, it’s just unbelievable the piles of books around here. I’m not complaining either-all those piles make me feel good until I feel overwhelmed that I’m not getting them read. lol.

Dar – does “your own” books mean books in your TBR stack (including ARCs), or only books that you’ve bought or have been given to you?

I guess I could click on the link to get to the original poster …

Dawn, it can be ones that come into your house too that you will own so if you get a book to review, it’s yours right so it can be part of this list. For me, I’m going to try to do some of my older ones on my shelves. One’s I bought because I really wanted to read them and yet haven’t had the time to up until this point.

So many challenges! I can’t keep up with them all. The only one I’ve signed up for so far is the New Author challenge, because I know I can meet that one with review books.

Breeni, lol-the new author one is a great one for you. We’ll see if I’m actually able to keep up with any of these. I sure hope so!

I’ve been seeing so many challenges lately, and it’s been so hard not to join in! Serena and I are launching a challenge ourselves on Dec. 1. We’re just finalizing everything right now. So I’m holding off on joining other challenges so I can focus on this one. I can’t wait!

I’ll be looking forward to your challenge updates. I’m finding it hard to keep up with the Fall Into Reading challenge and I’m thinking adding a bunch a books to the list at my first update wasn’t so wise. 😉

Anna, can’t wait to see what you have cooked up for a challenge. I think I’ve outdone myself with challenges already since I’m not doing so well with this years. Sometimes life manages to throw us off. My Fall Into Reading has been changed so many times. I’m positive I won’t get all the ones read I thought I would.
