Book Chat-The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker-Day 5

November 29, 2008 by Darlene

Tonight is my wrap up of the week long book chat I’ve been having with Toni from A Circle of Books. It’s been fun reading along with her and chatting about the book. Trish, I see you’re reading it too. It’s so good, isn’t it?

Well I’m up to Part Three now and the story is coming right along. I’m seeing that Truly is still keeping Marcus at arms length and it frustrates me. The thing is she has never thought she is worthy of anyone and it’s so sad because Marcus sees Truly, he really sees her-not just her exterior person.

Truly is still dabbling in the herbal remedies and other more sinister things. The author has made Truly such a real person with flaws and everything. I feel as though Truly is someone I know somehow. She makes mistakes and thinks bad things and I think is, at this point, not only thinking the bad things but planning to act on them.

Bobbie-he is a troubled boy. There have been many references to his being feminine and boy does that explode in a big way in the next section of the book. The thing is a boy being even slightly feminine would never in a million years be anything acceptable by Robert Morgan. While mentioning his name, I will say again that he is an evil man. He does find out what’s wrong with Truly and is treating her but he makes her feel like a circus show and I’m not even sure if he’s told her the truth about herself. I guess that remains to be seen.

Where I’ve left off Bobbie has been disowned by his father and Truly doesn’t know what to do. I’m back to the book now to finish it off. I’m staying up till I do-lol. I can’t wait to see what will ultimately happen with Truly and Bobbie and everybody else.

Be sure to head over to Toni’s blog for her thoughts(although she just got a new puppy so she may be late with her’s and who can blame her!). If you’ve missed any chats of the past week, here they are…

  • Day 1 here at Toni’s A Circle of Books and here at Peeking Between the Pages
  • Day 2 here at Toni’s A Circle of Books and here at Peeking Between the Pages
  • Day 3 here at Toni’s A Circle of Books and here at Peeking Between the Pages
  • Day 4 here at Toni’s A Circle of Books and here at Peeking Between the pages
  • Day 5-the wrap up above

Tune in tomorrow for my full review of the book and then Sunday for a surprise(oooh, maybe some of these books for a giveaway).

I love how infatuated Marcus is with Truly–even if secretly at times. I felt bad about the way that things ended between Bobbie and Robert. Oh Dar, I so wish I could have read this and chatted at the same time as you guys. Just not enough hours in the day. But I’m so glad I get to catch up retrospectively…

Marcus’ love for Truly was so sweet. It was great how he loved her for her, not what she looked like. He was a special guy.

I really wish you could have read with us too Trish. It would have been great with three of us. It’s been fun though commenting back and forth too.

Maybe next time (um, or some time) I’ll be able to do a chat like this with you guys. It’s hard because my reading schedule can be unpredictable, but hopefully after this month things will go back to normal again.

You know Trish, if you want to sometime in the new year we could figure out a different way to work a chat. It wouldn’t have to be structured to chat every day at a specific time or anything like that. Anyway, let’s think on it. Maybe there’s a way that would work for you and yet not add any pressure. It’s supposed to be fun not crazy right.
