Giveaway of The Magician’s Book by Laura Miller

November 13, 2008 by Darlene

I’ve got a copy of The Magician’s Book by Laura Miller to giveaway to one lucky winner courtesy of Hachette Books.

Here’s a description of the book from Hachette:

  • THE MAGICIAN’S BOOK is the story of one reader’s long, tumultuous relationship with C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia. Enchanted by its fantastic world as a child, prominent critic Laura Miller returns to the series as an adult to uncover the source of these small books’ mysterious power by looking at their creator, Clive Staples Lewis. What she discovers is not the familiar, idealized image of the author, but a more interesting and ambiguous truth: Lewis’s tragic and troubled childhood, his unconventional love life, and his intense but ultimately doomed friendship with J.R.R. Tolkien. Finally reclaiming Narnia “for the rest of us,” Miller casts the Chronicles as a profoundly literary creation, and the portal to a life-long adventure in books, art, and the imagination.

You can also read some reviews here of the novel over on Amazon.Com.

This book is being released December 3 so you can be one of the first to read it. Also on December 4 there will be a chat with the author on Blog Talk Radio. You can use this link to set yourself a reminder for that. This giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents only. Ensure that you leave me some way of contacting you if you win, no PO boxes please. Hachette will send you your book if you win. Here are the rules:

  • For one entry, comment here
  • For two entries blog about this giveaway and spread the word

I will draw for a winner on November 21. Good luck everyone!
