Softdrink, over at Fizzy Thoughts and Luanne over at A Bookworm’s World tagged me with this Bookworm Award-thanks ladies. I love this picture! Anyhow, this award requires me to do the following:
- Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following there.
The closest book to me right this minute is Going Down South by Bonnie J. Glover. So, here goes…
- ‘Everything smelled good, too, like the first of the morning before the garbage trucks plowed through their block, or the laundry when it was pulled in from the backyard clothesline. When the woman returned she carried a large tray with a teapot, and plates with small sandwiches and cookies. She told them she was just about to have a snack when they rang the bell and asked if they would care to join her. Daisy still tried not to show her embarrassment that she had mistaken the woman for a maid, but Olivia Jean was tickled, and she could see by the lady’s smile that she was, too.
I only went with a couple of extra sentences cause these were pretty long. Along with this I’m supposed to tag five people so here they are. Join in the fun if you’d like, if not that’s ok too.
Serena, Nymeth, Janel, Toni and Trish. You all know who you are-lol.
Yum! Sounds like a good snack.
lol Jill. It’s pretty good so far.
I’ve posted mine too!
Serendipitous game! Have fun all you tagees (smile)
What fun! Great sentences!
Okay .. I played..but didn’t tag. 🙂
Hey Dar – I came over to award and tag you, but see you already have been!!
lol, that’s ok Luanne. I’ll just add you to my post. It’s nice to be thought about either way. Thanks.
Ohh I love the line about the smell of laundry fresh off the line – being able to line-dry our linens is one of my favorite things about hot summer days.
Dar, Congrats! I love the picture!
I hope that you enjoy Going Down South. I read it last month and really liked it. I just love the cover art also.
Whoa, you read?!?!?! 😉
Congratulations!
Joanne, I used to love the smell of fresh linen from the line when I was a kid. We don’t do it anymore but I wish we did.
Bonnie, thanks. The cover on Going Down South is awesome and such pretty colors. I love it.
Breeni-yeh, who would have thunk it hey-lol.

Veens, thank you 🙂
Oh booger! I was tagged with this one too and used the same book. 🙁 It is schedule to be posted at midnight…sorry for copying yours…should have known better and picked another book.
Shoot, I should have known beter too with five of us reading it. It was the only one on the table by me at the minute. Oh well, doesn’t matter-we are both reading it.
Thanks for the tag, Dar! I’ll do this one soon 🙂
Thanks Dar! I’m behind in my blogging, so you’ve already seen my post. 🙂 Yours made me a little hungry!! (Although it is 6:30 in the morning…)
Loved that book! I was tagged as well, but I haven’t had a chance to post yet. Probably this weekend or next week during my vacation! I’ll be checking out the noontime chat, but I’m a bit behind in blog reading.

Trish, I’m behind in everything right now so I understand. lol-yes I guess I could see how this might make you hungry.
Anna, I think we’re all behind it seems. Hope you get caught up during your vacation-I don’t remember if you said you were going anywhere or not. I should finish with Tomato Girl today-it is really good.
Anna, see you can tell how not with it I am lately. This was from Going Down South not Tomato Girl. lol. I finished Going Down South last night and yes I loved it too!
