I’m a Bookworm

November 16, 2008 by Darlene

Softdrink, over at Fizzy Thoughts and Luanne over at A Bookworm’s World tagged me with this Bookworm Award-thanks ladies. I love this picture! Anyhow, this award requires me to do the following:

  • Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following there.

The closest book to me right this minute is Going Down South by Bonnie J. Glover. So, here goes…

  • ‘Everything smelled good, too, like the first of the morning before the garbage trucks plowed through their block, or the laundry when it was pulled in from the backyard clothesline. When the woman returned she carried a large tray with a teapot, and plates with small sandwiches and cookies. She told them she was just about to have a snack when they rang the bell and asked if they would care to join her. Daisy still tried not to show her embarrassment that she had mistaken the woman for a maid, but Olivia Jean was tickled, and she could see by the lady’s smile that she was, too.

I only went with a couple of extra sentences cause these were pretty long. Along with this I’m supposed to tag five people so here they are. Join in the fun if you’d like, if not that’s ok too.

Serena, Nymeth, Janel, Toni and Trish. You all know who you are-lol.

Ohh I love the line about the smell of laundry fresh off the line – being able to line-dry our linens is one of my favorite things about hot summer days.

Loved that book! I was tagged as well, but I haven’t had a chance to post yet. Probably this weekend or next week during my vacation! I’ll be checking out the noontime chat, but I’m a bit behind in blog reading.
