Mailbox Monday hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page asks us to share what books came into our house last week. Again, I had another good week. Here are the goodies…
- This One Is Mine by Maria Semple (from Hachette)
- Cotillion by Georgette Heyer (from Sourcebooks)
- The Conqueror by Georgette Heyer (from Sourcebooks)
- Off Season by Anne Rivers Siddons (from Hachette)-I’ve been looking forward to reading this one for ages.
- Who By Fire by Diana Spechler (from Book Club Girl)
A great pile of books and now the time to find during the busy Christmas season to get started on the ever growing TBR pile.
How about you? Did you get any good books in the mail this past week?
I have This One Is Mine on my list…and I will be interested to read what you think of Off Season.
Yay! Georgette Heyer! She’s a new discovery for me this year, and I love her! “Cotillion” is adorable, and “The Conqueror” takes a little bit to get into, but I liked it a lot. I have them both reviewed on my blog, if you want to get a sneak-peek.
Lezlie
Jill, This One Is Mine sounds like a fun read, doesn’t it?
Lezlie, I’ll have to peek at them soon. Maybe I already did and don’t remember. lol.
I got Who By Fire, too and I’m really looking forward to reading it.
I just started This One is Mine…so I will be looking forward to your review of this one. Who By Fire also sounds good…I think I am going to need to read that one…I have entered your contest for it so I will keep my fingers crossed!
Okay.. I am wanting Off Season for a while now…. What a good selection of books that came your way Dar. Happy Reading.
I did! The amazing Beth Kephart sent me Undercover and her upcoming Nothing Like Ghosts!!
Bermudaonion, I hope to fit Who By Fire in really soon.
Jo-Jo, are you liking This One Is Mine? Good luck on the giveaway.
Toni, if you don’t get a copy, mine will be yours.
Lenore, you lucky lady. I’ll be watching for reviews.
Dar, Last week I received Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani. I emailed her at her website and she emailed back and then sent an ARC of her new book. I’m excited to read it as I’ve enjoyed so many of her books. It’ll be in stores in early Feb. ’09 so I may wait until January to read/review.
Mary, that’s great. I’ve seen that one around a bit and as you already like her books, I bet you’re excited. I’ll be watching for your review.
Life After Genius showed up in my mailbox. 😀
I’m going to be reading and reviewing my first Georgette Heyer book (The Conqueror)in a few weeks. I’ve heard great things about her writing, so I’m excited about that.
It looks like you got some great books!
great books Dar 🙂
As you know, I’m reading Reluctant Widow by Georgette Heyer and enjoying it.

Jill, are you doing one of those tours for Life After Genius?
Aylce, I decided to read The Cotillion first. I’ll watch for your review.
Naida, I don’t think I’ve run across anyone who doesn’t like Heyer that’s read any of her novels which is great.
Dar – I love Georgette Heyer – she was one of the authors my Mom let me read growing up, and I still have ALL her books (well, all I could find at that time, which was quite a lot!!) I can’t wait to hear how you like them.
🙂 Wendi
Dar, Great list of books! I have not read any of Georgette Heyer’s books. I’ll look forward to your reviews. I’m almost finished with Who by Fire and look forward to listening to the book discussion.
Wendi, I can’t wait to read them and everybody seems to like them which only makes me more interested. I never heard of her until recently-actually when I started blogging. I feel as though I probably missed out on a lot of good books along the way.
Bonnie, I’ll be watching for your review of Who By Fire. I probably won’t get to it for a bit here with all the rest on my plate right now but hopefully soon.
I received Off Season in one of the Hachette giveaways this past summer, but I’ve never read anything by Siddons–have you read much of her stuff?
Trish, no I haven’t read anything else by her. I have heard so many good things about Off Season that I really wanted to though.
Serena, wowser-I’m with you on that. My piles are starting to scare me. Time to stop the pile up for a while I think.
This One is Mine just sounds good, even though I have no idea what it is about.
Dar, I can’t wait for you to read Off Season. I want to know what you think about it!!! I’m sure we’ll discuss via email.

Literarily
Shana, I really want to find time to read Off Season soon. I’ve heard so many good things about it. It’ll be fun to discuss with you when I read it.
Thank you for stopping by the ‘mailbox’ this week. Looks like you got some good ones.
Sorry I’m so behind in your blog! I’m catching up now though.
I see that you’ve got a bunch of great new reads! I recently finished Who By Fire, but haven’t written my review yet. I thought the book was good! Off Season is on my shelf, and I hope to read it in the new year.
Happy Reading!

Anna, I’ve been behind too. I’m not sure when I’ll get to Who By Fire or Off Season. In the New Year I imagine.
