- WHAT ARE YOU READING RIGHT NOW?
- WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING, and WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT?
- WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WILL READ NEXT?
- WILL YOU READ ANY HOLIDAY-THEMED BOOKS SOON?
Right now I have 5 books on the go and yes I’m reading all of them. They are Exit Lines by Joan Barfoot, Tomato Girl by Jayne Pupek, Dating DaVinci by Malena Lott, The House of Seven Gables by Nataniel Hawthorne and Going Down South by Bonnie J. Glover.
Recently I finished Knit Two by Kate Jacobs and really enjoyed it. It’s a sequel to The Friday Night Knitting Club and it was nice to revisit the characters again.
Next up will be The Little Giant of Aberdeen County by Tiffany Baker, Tomorrow by Graham Swift and First Daughter by Eric VanLustbader. There will probably be a couple more thrown in there when the time comes.
I was hoping to read something holiday’ish but I don’t think that’s going to happen because I don’t have anything. I had tried winning Finding Father Christmas and Engaging Father Christmas but unfortunately that didn’t happen-lol. So, I think I’ll stick to trying to get through my tbr pile a bit more.
So, how about all of you reading-what are you reading now, what did you finish-did you like it? What’s up next and are you or are you going to read something Christmas’y. I’d love to hear from you!
I was expecting something completely different when I read House of Seven Gables. Consequently, I didn’t appreciate it. I kept waiting for a ghost. I have no idea what I was thinking of!! 🙂
Lezlie
I’m going to read The Paper Bag Christmas to put me in the holiday spirit.
lol Lezlie, I’m expecting a ghost too. I’m reading this for my Classics Challenge because I just can’t seem to get into any of the other ones. This one seems ok so far.
bermuda-I can’t wait to see what you think of Paper Bag Christmas. I’d really love to read that one.
I need to read House of Seven Gables, I started it about six years ago when I got a beautiful edition, but never got past the first couple of pages.
ok ay i m reading
– for the last 1 month “A God of Small things
– Thank You Jeeves By PG Woodhouse
– The Reluctant Fundamenatlist by Mohsin Hamid 🙂
and i m nowhere with any of those lOL!
How do you read 5 at once?? I take a book with me on the train, and I’ve tried to have another on my nightstand, but it never works out that way! Can’t wait for your review of Going Down South!

Diary of an Eccentric
I recently finished The Misadventures of Oliver Booth. It was super light but fun.
I am currently reading Who By Fire so I’ll have it read in time for Book Club Girls’ radio show.
I want to read this collection of holiday short stories by Truman Capote that a book group member gave me as a gift last year. Come to think of it, I should probably pull it out within the next day or two.
Lisa, I sure hope I get further than that. You know I have a Great Illustrated Classic and I think it may be a lot easier to read than the original version so I may be lucky that way.
Veens, you’re too funny. How come you’re not getting too much reading done-too busy with wedding plans?
Anna, typically I’ll read 50 pages of each one in a day unless one really takes me by storm and I’ll keep reading. That’s why I won’t have reviews for a while and then it seems like there’s one every day-lol.
Ti, I was one of those who hasn’t gotten their copy of Who By Fire yet. It’s supposed to come today but hasn’t yet. Not sure I’ll be able to get it read in time for the chat this time around. I’ve been kind of itching to read A Christmas Carol but with all the other stuff I need to catch up on, adding another book to the list is probably a bad idea.
Wow five books at a time. My brain wouldn’t be able to keep the stories all straight. Glad you enjoy it. All your books look really interesting.
Robin of mytwoblessings
Robin-lol. I know that’s what a lot of people say but once I start back at the book I remember quickly what’s going on. Thanks for popping by!
I am so glad I am not the only one who reads multiple books. I love doing that and have no idea why.
J. Kaye, you know what I think it is…I like to have different stories to go to depending on how I feel at the time.
I’m saving my Christmasy reads for December, but I have a few in mind. Yesterday I finished King Rat by China Mieville and really enjoyed it 🙂 Now I’m reading some non-fiction (31 Songs by Nick Hornby) and an Arthurian retelling: I am Morgan le Fey by Nancy Springer. Both are great so far!
5 books at once really is impressive! I can’t manage more than two 😛
I am reading The Hour I First Believed right now and loving it. I finished One Perfect Day, The Forbidden Daughter and Richard Wright’s Black Boy, which was heavy but I enjoyed it. One Perfect Day made me cry but it was such a good thought provoking story. I’m not sure where I’m headed after Wally but I can’t wait for your review on Going Down South, I’ve had it on my list for a bit now.
Nymeth, you always read some of the coolest books. I do have one Christmasy book that’s coming so I was wrong-I will have one and I’ll save it for December.
Fe, I got The Hour I First Believed today. I hope to find time really soon to get into it especially as you’re loving it, then odds are I will too. Going Down South is great so far. I think you’ll like it. I hope to get some serious reading done tonight!
wow 5 books! you’re good. I’ve heard very good things about Tomato Girl. I read First Daughter and enjoyed it.
I’m actually wanting to read something Christmas’y, i’ll have to check the library.
Enjoy your books.

Naida, thanks:). Yes, I’ve heard nothing but good things about First Daughter. I’m getting there slowly but surely with all these books.
I almost forgot to do mine today. I haven’t heard of those Father Christmas books.
Five books at one time!! I’m really looking forward to The Little Giant of Aberdeen County–hopefully I can fit it in soon. How’s the Hawthorne going? We we able to pop by The House of the Seven Gables when we were in Salem last month, but it was night time and couldn’t get any pictures. Next time…
You know, I need to read The Little Giant… soon too.
I cannot believe you have so many books going at the same time, girl!

Trish, I’ll be doing Aberdeen in a chat type thing next week. Too bad you weren’t already reading. You could have joined us. Honestly I’m doing horribly with my classics. When dad was in the hospital I was having such a hard time concentrating and I’m not sure I’m much better now. My challenge may extend into the new year but that’s probably not allowed is it. I’m hopeless. lol.
Shana, even before I started blogging I would read two or three at a time. I always like to have a selection depending on my mood.
