Noontime Chat-Going Down South

November 17, 2008 by Darlene

Hi everybody, make sure to pop over to J. Kaye’s place over at J. Kaye’s Book Blog for the first day of noontime chat that five of us bloggers are participating in. We’re discussing Going Down South by Bonnie J. Glover and it looks like J. Kaye is enjoying the book as am I.

One thing she brought up was the use of the word ‘coochie’. Well I had never heard that word before and I have to tell you I laughed and laughed. That’s right at the beginning of the novel and I have to tell you it won me over in terms of continuing to read. lol.

Make sure to pop in tomorrow here at Peeking Between the Pages for my thoughts on this wonderful book.

LOL Dar…. I think I recall it was a dance or something or a way of dancing here years ago…. kind of a bump and grind…called “pop your coochie.” But I am gathering that it is something else in the book. LOL.. maybe I am just old. Oh I am laughing and giggling at my desk.

Toni, glad you could get a laugh out of that. I sure did. I’ve never heard of a dance called ‘pop your coochie’ either. Where have I been I wonder-lol.

I first heard the word “coochie” when I started dating my (now) wife. She’s an African American, and if the “coochie” you’re talking about is the “coochie” she and her girlfriends meant when they said it, well … I’ll stop now, this a family friendly blog (smile)

I’ll be back for your review. gonna bop over to J Kayes’s.

Wendy, the book is good so far. I’m looking forward to getting back at it tonight. Lazy Perogies are made with lasagna noodles, cottage cheese and mashed potatoes with onion and ham mixed in-it’s a little piece of heaven. Have you had normal perogies before?
