Mailbox Monday (Dec. 15)

December 15, 2008 by Darlene

Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia over at The Printed Page. It asks us to share what we received in our mailboxes last week. Mine was pretty slow this past week…

  • The Rest of Her Life by Laura Moriarty (Book Club Girl)
  • Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquirel (I ordered)
  • Beside a Burning Sea by John Shors (I ordered and will be reading for the War Challenge with Anna from Diary of an Eccentric and Serena from Savvy Verse & Wit. Recommended by Marcia at The Printed Page)
  • Beneath a Marble Sky by John Shors ( I ordered, again a recommendation by Marcia at The Printed Page)
  • Welcome to Serenity by Sherryl Woods (Christmas present for Momsy)
  • The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister (from author)

How about you – did you receive any goodies in your mailbox last week?

I did not receive any but I bought two books:

    Holidays On Ice
    Twilight

Yep, I decided to take the plunge and jump on the Twilight bandwagon. I’m waiting until my time off to read it though.

I got lots of books, last week, but I log in the review books, unwrap the PBS books and then put them in different piles. I wish I was more organized, but I never know what I got last week, by Monday! Looks like you got some great ones. The Shors book (Under a Burning Sky?) is on my wish list and has been for a while. I’ll look forward to your review.

Ti, I've heard Holidays on Ice is really good and I love the Twilight series although I still have the last one to read yet.

Kathy, I did like The Rest of Her Life. I probably won't get a review up till the end of the week though.

Nymeth, thanks. You'll see reviews sooner or later. lol.

Ramya, my tbr pile is horrendous. I've got to start having a few more giveaways just to get rid of the ones I've read. Not sure where to put them anymore. I've got to do some re-organizing soon.

Lezlie, I'll be reading that in the new year for my 100 books challenge.

Wendi, I'll be starting School of Essential Ingredients this weekend. It sure does sound like one I'm going to like.

Avis, I haven't seen any reviews of School of Essential Ingredients yet. I'll have to take a peek around and see what I can find.

Naida, I've seen such good reviews for both of John Shor's books. That's why I wanted to make sure I got both of them.

Luanne, I should take your lead and do the same-quit buying for myself as I have so many coming in as it is but as you can see I can't resist.

Alyce, so many books, so little time -I'm sure we can all relate.

Bookfool, I've started writing down what comes in the mail. That's the only way I'd remember. I write them down as soon as they come in the house. lol.

J.Kaye, I won't finish reviewing all I had. They will have to fall over into the new year.

Lit Feline, I do have a lot of good books to get to. I hope to make it a priority next year to get to some of my own books along with review copies. There has to be a happy medium.

Veens, it was slow in that I bought three of them but they did come in the mail. lol.

Lenore & Alessandra, yup more good books. I wanted to start them all but then there's the other pile I'm already reading. lol.

What a week! I read *Like Water for Chocolate* years ago and really liked it. I think it may have been made into a movie (?)

I know I want to read The Rest of Her LIfe. I am looking forward to your reviews of the other books because they are new titles to me. That’s one of the many reasons I love visiting your blog, because I always spot something new.

Except for Like Water for Chocolate I haven’t heard of any of those books! But the titles sure look interesting. Enjoy your reading, Dar!

I just finished The Rest of Her Life yesterday. It was pretty good. Now I’ve got to listen to the Book Club Girl show. I wonder if my questions were asked. LOL

I’ve had my eye on Beside a Burning Sea for awhile. I’ll have to borrow Serena’s copy when she’s done.

Looks like you had a great week! Happy reading!

Thank you for stopping by the ‘mailbox’ this week and thanks for the shout out. I sincerely hope you enjoy Mr. Shors books as much as I do. He has new one coming out late spring/early summer and I’ve begged a copy.
