Hi everyone, I’ve been really hit hard by the flu. The last three days have been spent in bed without even the energy to get up for anything. You know the kind—bronchitis with a really bad headcold to top it off. Something I’ve not shared on this blog I don’t believe is that I have rheumatoid arthritis (an auto-immune disease that affects your joints); so when I get hit by a flu like this it also affects every joint I have making it extremely painful for me to move around and sapping even more of my energy. I think I’m on the mend now though. I feel partially human this morning so I’m thinking that’s got to be a good thing right???
Oh yeh, on another note—I went back to the eye doctor for my eye that I hurt after Christmas (remember the whole cut cornea incident). Turns out it’s still bothering me because it’s not healing properly. I’ll be going back later this week to have my cornea scraped to take down the scar so it’ll start to heal. Let me tell you that I’m more than nervous about this so if anyone has ever had a cornea scraped and can tell me that it’s not so bad I’ll be eternally grateful. For now, I’m ready to run the other way. Anything near my eyes makes me extremely nervous-always has.
I am very behind on my blog stuff. I’ve got to draw for a winner of The Italian Lover first thing here this morning. Then I must apologize once again to Marcia at The Printed Page for not getting my wrap up done on Friday of Sarah’s Key. I absolutely hate letting people down like that. So, that is also on the agenda for this morning.
Unfortunately for me I didn’t get any reading done. I couldn’t even do that with the bad headache I had. On a good note, in my mail today I saw that I won Signora da Vinci from Julie over at Booking Mama. I must admit that went a long way to cheering me up this morning. I really, really wanted that book. Thanks again Julie!
So, that’s all for now. I’m going to get started on trying to get everything back together here and running smoothly again. I’m feeling a tad overwhelmed at this point but I’m sure with the return of some of my energy I’ll get things under control.
Hope you all have an awesome week!
Sorry to hear you’ve been so under the weather and I’m glad to hear you’re on the mend. I haven’t had my cornea scraped, but I’m sure they numb it.

I hope you’re feeling better! I think you’re really going to enjoy SIGNORA DA VINCI!
Yuck. I hope you feel better soon! Snuggle with Buddy until then. 🙂
I’m sorry you haven’t been well. I know how you feel with the RA though. I have it as well along with Lupus and a simple cold can even cause complications. I DO hope you feel better soon.
I have not had eye surgery so I have no words of wisdom on your upcoming procedure but I do hope it goes smoothly and that you heal quickly.
I hope you feel better soon, Dar. Congrats on the book win…very jealous here!
Oh, so sorry you’ve been sick. I didn’t know you have rheumatoid arthritis, but I do know about auto-immune diseases and I feel for you. It’s so strange that the body can attack itself in that way, isn’t it? I’ll pray about your cornea work. I’ve never heard of having a cornea scraped, so I’m no help. Hope you feel better, soon!!
Sorry you’ve been sick. 🙁
Hamburger had his eye drilled once. (!) Creeped me out to no end, but he was fine and it didn’t take long at all.
Get better soon!!!
It sounds as though you have really had a tough week. I am so sorry – but hope that this week is much better. (haven’t had a cornea scrape – but I will be praying for you!)
Oh, Dar!!! I hope you feel better soon, & the eye thing gets fixed lickety-split! =( It's no fun not feeling well… ((hugs))

Sorry you’ve been under the weather — I had a flu-like sickness (as did the rest of my family, though not as bad as I did). It was absolutely no fun — all I could do was sit/lay around and watch TV — wasn’t able to do much reading. I enjoy your blog!
Dar, so sorry to hear you’ve been ill. I hope you feel much better very quickly. And I hope the eye issues will be taken care of easily and painlessly. I’ll keep you in my thoughts.
Congrats on the book win. I’ll watch for a review. Sounds like something I’d like.

Dar, sounds pretty yukky – not to even be able to read! The eye thing sounds weird, but the doctors deal with those situations all the time. Congrats on the book win — I wanted that one, too! Sending good thoughts for your full recovery!
Hope you feel all better soon and that the cornea scraping goes well.
I think my own flu finally is over, hate being sick.
And that book seems to be every where I turn, 🙂 must be a sign that a should read it
Beth F says
Yikes!! Hope you and your eye heal up nicely and quickly.
Gosh, I’m sorry to hear all that. I hope you feel better as soon as possible. It sucks being under the weather like that.

Sorry to hear that you’ve not been feeling well Dar. Wishing that the cornea scraping goes smoothly and you don’t have much pain.
Congrats on the book win, that was a nice thing to happen!
Bandit Jack says
did they really use the word “scrape”!? you’d think they’d use something more pleasant like “cornea altering” that wouldn’t make you as scared!!
hope buddy is taking good care of you!!
Ms. Lucy says
Oh, I hope you get better soon- you should just think about resting and getting better. Take good care,

Dar, that nasty flu stuff is running rampant down here in Orlando, and I know how it feels. You just want to crawl on hands and knees to the woods and die peacefully. On the eye note, awhile back I had Lasik surgery on both of my eyes. My right one has always been dry, and in the healing process, it got so dry that blinking caused my eyelid to scrape my cornea. Talk about slipping quickly into a depression (especially for someone who reads all the time). I was assured that the cornea heals very quickly, and it did. I just had to use alot of drops and be patient. I’m sure everyone out there feels your pain, and understands. No pressure on this end!

I hope you are on the mend and feel better soon! I have autoimmune issues myself, I know what a trial they are. Hope you are getting some tlc!
I’m sorry you’ve been sick, Dar 🙁 I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you feel better soon and that your cornea work goes as well as possible!

I hope you feel better soon. I hate being sick too! Congrats on winning the book 🙂
Take good care of yourself Dar. Thinking positive thoughts for you. MS sucks to when I get sick…have a mild flu bug but I feel awful and sometimes I am tired of telling people close to me to just let me rest, I’ll get better faster…

I’m so sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling well. And you’re right – the eye stuff is scary. You probably shouldn’t try to do much reading right now. Hope everything is OK again soon, but you’ve obviously got lots of us sending good thoughts your way!
Oh, Dar, I hope you are feeling better soon. That is a shame your eye did not heal properly. The last thing in the world you should be worrying about is a blog. Take care of yourself! You’re in my thoughts.
Oh No! I am sorry you were sick! I didn’t get the flu but I did have a cold for… going on three weeks now! and I am so tired of it!
I hope you feel better soon! And I hope your eye appointment goes well. ((HUGS))

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been sick and I hope you get better soon! I hope the eye scraping goes well; I’ll be thinking of you this week. Take care of yourself!
Oh, Dar, you poor woman!! I am so sorry that you haven’t been feeling well and the cornea thing just does not sound pleasant – I cringed just reading it! I am sending get well wishes your way! Take care of yourself!
I’m so sorry that you’re feeling so bad!! I get bronchitis easy and ear infections too!! I’ve been thinking of you this weekend and hope that tomorrow you will feel even better!!! Take care 🙂
Oh Dar- I feel for you. I was laid up for almost 4 days with the flu a week ago. I’m glad to hear you’re starting to feel human. Even reading about the cornea scraping gives me the willies!!
Sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling well, Dar! I hope you get better soon and your cornea heals quickly!
I wondered where you had gotten off too…I’m sorry to hear that you are feeling sick and that you’ve had a rough time of it. I hope that you feeling better now is going to continue, so you can get some reading done.
Susan Helene Gottfried says
Well, hell. The whole world is sick. It’s time to start a trend my friend: be healthy.
And I hope the eyeball thing is easy, painless, and anxiety-free. Me, I’d be freaked. Totally.
Michele at Reader's Respite says
Gosh, Dar…it’s time to get that eyeball taken care of for good here. After all, you don’t want to be stuck having the new Kindle read to you in that obnoxious computerized voice, do you? 🙂
Teddy Rose says
I sure hope you feel better soon Dar! Hopefully the eye think can be fixed easy. I had an eye infection last month and couldn’t see out of mey left eye for 3 days. I was quite freaked with it, so I can just imagine what your going through.
Oh Dar! I hope you get to feeling better soon. I’ve taken a little bit of a break from blogging as well (although mine was about 2 weeks), but I hope you see you back up and running soon. And I hope all goes well with the eye–how awful that it is still bothering you 2 months later!!
Dar, I hope you feel better soon! Anything near my eyes besides my own hands freaks me out so I feel for you. Good luck and don’t worry about being behind…you’ll catch up before you know it.

Sorry to hear you have been so poorly. Hope you are back to normal soon. Vivx
Poor you! Feel better soon!

I hope you start feeling better soon!
I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling well. I hope that you are on the mend now! I also hope that your eye appointment goes well, and that it’s a breeze.
So sorry to hear you’re not feeling well, this time of year is terrible for bronchial viruses. Hopefully you’ll be feeling better soon. And I wouldn’t worry too much about the cornea scrape, a friend had to have that done and said it was painless and quite quickly done, in her case the Dr. put a numbing drop in the eye first so all she felt was a little bit of pressure. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great 🙂
i’m sorry you’ve been sick dar, feel better soon.
good luck with the eye appointment, you’ll be fine 🙂
Dar, sending feel-good thoughts your way! We’ve been sick too and while it seems like you’d get a ton of reading done, all I’ve wanted to do is sleep as soon as the kids get into bed!
The cornea scraping sounds scary but those eye procedures usually SOUND worse than they really are!
I hope you feel better soon! I completely sympathise-I’ve had a bad cold that has made my chronic fibromyalgia act up like no one’s business. I hate not being able to read when I’m sick!!
J. Kaye says
Mercy, Dar! I am so very sorry! This has been a rough few months. I really hope things turn around and soon!
(Big Mama Bear Ones)
Hey everyone, thanks so much for the get better comments. Stupid cold is hanging in there. I had to reschedule my eye appt until March 6 to ensure this flu is completely over. Goodness, it will leave eventually, won’t it??? lol. I am so ready to feel normal again or what seems normal anyway. I appreciate all the comments and concern.
Hi Dar.. I swear I check on you blog daily.. how I missed this post?? Anyway…. You know I am somewhat in the loop with what you are going through…but I like to leave comments all the same. Hope a few weeks later and you are feeling much better. xoxo
