Hey everybody, it’s almost here! The 24 hour Read-a-thon is this weekend on Saturday, April 18. The 24 hour read-a-thon is a twice a year event that was created by Dewey and this year will be held in her honor. If you haven’t signed up yet—Why Not? It’s going to be fun, fun, fun; really what could be better than spending a day on your favorite hobby. My only worry is my dog letting me read all day. lol. Anyhoooo, head on over here and sign up and join in the fun.
I’ve decided that I’m going to donate 0.5 cents for every page I read to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This is a cause very important to me and I can’t think of reading for anything better. So let’s hope I read lots. I’m hoping for 500-1000 pages so we’ll see.
Here’s my list of books. I’m going to read from all of them to keep from getting bored unless I really get involved with one in which case I’d probably just keep going with it…
- The Scent of Oranges by Joan Zawatzky (almost finished this one so it’s my first priority Saturday morning)
- Scattered Leaves by Richard Roach
- Mistress of the Sun by Sandra Gulland
- Too Hot to Handle by Robin Kaye
- Follow Me by Joanna Scott
- The Red Leather Diary by Lily Koppel
I hope I’ll make a big dent on my reading of these as they are all slotted to be finished this month. I’m going to pop out tonight for some snackies –a few small bags of chips and tacos, and some fruit (I’m craving strawberries) and I should be set to go. I hope you’ll pop in and cheer me on this Saturday–give me a few cyber kicks in the butt to keep me going. lol.
I’ll be too busy for reading, but not too busy to swing by and cheer you on 🙂
Good luck!
Good luck Dar.
I really wanted to do this, but as it turns out I can’t this weekend.
When is the next time they do it?
I will visit your blog to see how you are doing!
Read on, my friend!
I’ll be keeping an eye on you! Have fun!
Lezlie
Best of luck to you! 🙂
I’m planning on keeping an eye on the happenings, but can’t participate since I’ve dedicated this weekend to painting my kitchen! fun, fun…hopefully next time I’ll be able to join in! Good luck!!
I so wish I could be part of this. I shall cheer you on. I hope you manage to read all these books. Good luck.
Good luck!! It should be a lot of fun…I will be reading right along with you :0)
I covet a day off from “stuff” on the weekend for pure unadulterated reading! I don’t want to wish my kids’ lives away, and I know my day will come when I can tell my husband to go golfing and leave me to my books! I promise I will read something on Saturday, but it won’t make any dents…
I will come and cheer you on!
Good Luck Dar! It sounds like you’re prepared. I’ll be cheering you on.
Good luck! I just joined today so we’ll see how that works since I will no doubt have the kids at me every second. I was told to go elsewhere to read and I may do that for some of it, but I think I will do most of my reading in the latter half of the day.
I’ll definitely be cheering you on! You have a great list of books there!
we’ll all have to give each other cyber kicks in the butt!!! I’m excited!!
I can’t wait!!
Good luck Dar, we will pop over to your blog and annoy you LOL hopefully that will help you stay awake in the wee hours.
yay!!!! Sounds like a great cause, Dar, and I think you’ll be able to get 500-1000 pages easy.
Hi Dar:) Don’t know if I can do the 24 hour read- but sometime in between that, know that you have a reading buddy for Mistresso of the Sun; I just started reading it this afternoon.
That’s so wonderful that you’re making it a charity event as well:) I’m cheering you on!
Yay for joining in! I’ll definitely be stopping in to cheer for you. 😀
Good luck, Dar! And have fun 😀
Psst. I’ve given you an award: http://savvyverseandwit.blogspot.com/2009/04/enchanted-blog.html
Good luck and have fun, Dar! Wish I could join in this time, but I’ll at least try to stop in for a visit. I loved The Red Leather Diary…that’s a good choice for the read-a-thon.
I can’t wait! I’ll be reading right along with you..What a great cause to donate toward–I know how important it is to you.
Good luck, Dar! I’ll be looking forward to a great batch of reviews from you in the near future.
I don’t suppose Richard Roach would be the same Rich Roach (Canadian children’s entertainer, poet; teacher) that I’m familiar with?
Good luck and have fun! The Girl and I are participating together. I’ve pulled out some books for the WWII challenge. We’ll see how far I get.
