24 Hour Read-a-Thon

April 2, 2009 by Darlene

The 24 hour read-a-thon is a twice a year event that was created by Dewey and this year will be held in honor of Dewey. It will run on Saturday, April 18, 2009 this time around.

Last year I didn’t officially participate but I did pop around the blogosphere trying to encourage people. This year I’m going to READ, READ, and READ some more. I’m really excited to join all the readers this year.

This year Hannah (WordLily), Ana (Nymeth), and Trish (Hey Lady!) have worked really hard to organize the read-a-thon so a big thank you to them for all their hard work! If you’d like to join in this year there are a few ways to do so. Head on over to this post here for all the details and the sign up sheet.

How about joining in the fun and keeping me company!

I am still on the fence about doing this. I just don’t know if I can do it with two young kids in the house but I felt so left out last time.

I’m with T. I’m still on the fence about doing this as well since I think the local literary festival is that weekend and I won’t be around the house to read. But I will be there in spirit!

How do you do this with your boys? That’s what keeps me from participating. I’m not sure how “Hey, honey, please watch the kids all day today so I can read.” He’d say, “What’s the difference?” and then we’d have a fight. ๐Ÿ™‚

YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m so thrilled your joining us Dar. You were such a fantastic “unofficial” cheerleader last time that I’m excited to be a cheerleader for you this time around.

Hmmm, I actually think I might want to do this. I will think about it for a week, maybe I can get my daughter to come over and spend the night and do it with me.

I really do wish I could join in, but I am at a huge craft fair all day Saturday and I know I will have to look after my girls on Sunday. I will cheer everyone on from the sidelines, whilst secretly wishing I could be part of it. Believe me, if I didn’t haven’t commitments, I would be there!

I’ll cheer you on Dar! I doubt that I could stay awake for a 24 hour read-a-thon.

I’m so sorry I haven’t been around your blog for a long time. I haven’t been blogging much myself, but I just wanted to drop by and say hi, wish you a good weekend and a nice Easter (if you celebrate that) and apologize for being scarce.

I am finishing my Master thesis and this takes up most of my time. Hopefully, by the end of May, I will be able to blog more and participate more around the blogosphere.

I am still reviewing books from time to time on my blog, but I am not really active.

I don’t expect you to come running visiting and commenting, I just wanted to let you know that I am very much alive and I miss reading and commenting on your blog very much.

This is a personal message written to all the blogowner, whose delightful blogs I visit on a regular basis, but it has been copy/pasted. So if you find it on other blogger’s blogs, that is why.

I look very much forward to be active again – and apologize once again for not being active the past month and not being able to be active for another month or two.

Hey thanks so much for following! Wonderful blog you have here. Wish I could participate in this but my friends from NY will be here that weekend, making it virtually impossible. Can’t wait to here about other people’s experiences though!

    I’m in for the 24 Hour Read-a-thon. I probably shouldn’t because it’s two weeks before I have 2 25 page papers due, but I don’t care!

Sounds like something I would enjoy if I didn’t have so many other things going on. It’s the first weekend of my April vacation and I have to paint the front porch! Ugh!

Plus, it’s National Poetry Month and I’ve joined the writing challenge to write a poem a day for the whole month.

And then there’s my little Kylie. I really need a fix of my granddaughter and that will probably be the weekend we can get together.

Great job reading 10 books in March! I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve only read 13 books all year so far!

    Have a great week!

Ti, it would be hard with kids. It’ll be hard with a demanding dog let alone kids. I felt that way last time too and truthfully I made pretty good time just cheerleading so I want to give it a go.

Serena, too bad you weren’t participating but make sure you’re sending me good vibes.

Jennifer, I don’t have any boys just my dog. Too funny though on your comment. We read all the time anyway right. lol.

Trish, thanks. It was fun cheerleading last time but I’m really looking forward to just being able to lose myself in my books this time around.

Wendy, I hope you do it. It would be such fun for you and your daughter to do it together.

Viv, I know you’d be there if you could. A craft fair will definitely be lots of fun too though.

Bonnie, I won’t be able to stay awake for the whole thing but I’m pretty sure I can make it pretty far. I can’t sleep at night anyway. lol.

Lenore, I hope you’ll be able to join in.

Jess, too bad you have to work. It would have been great having you join in.

    Nymeth, your welcome ๐Ÿ™‚

    Yvonne, thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

Melody, it would be much more challenging with kids for sure unless your hubby would take over and even then they want mommy’s attention. I wish you could have joined in though.

Staci, I’m so glad you’re joining in. I’m going to go with healthy this year I think. If I eat sugar I will get tired. It’s going to be fun! I’m so glad you’ve joined in.

Bobbie, I hope you can join in the fun!

Madeleine, thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.

Naida, I know you’ve joined since this note and I’m glad you have!

Wendy, too bad you couldn’t join. Thanks for the encouragement though!

Amy, I’m glad you’re reading too. It’s going to be fun-what can be better than reading all day right.

Prongs, too bad you can’t participate but company will be fun too.

Swapna, I’m glad you’re joining in. I can just imagine how many books you’ll get read. lol.

    Blodeuedd, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Tink, too bad you can’t join in. I wish you were.

Linda, you’ve got a lot going on and plus you simply can’t miss time with Kylie.

Desert Rose, too bad you couldn’t join in. Wish you could.

Carol, too bad you can’t join in but helping out at the church will be fun too.

Laura, thanks so much. Wow, it’s creeping up fast isn’t it.

Good luck with the read-a-thon dar!! I would love to participate this yar but I don’t think I can spend the whole day reading. Saturdays are the crazy days here where everything around the house gets done:(

Ramya, too bad you can’t participate. I usually leave Saturdays for reading although not all day-lol, so I should be ok. I’m looking forward to it.
