Cover Attraction (April 1)

April 1, 2009 by Darlene

Cover Attraction is brought to us courtesy of Marcia at The Printed Page. This is what she has to say…’I’m a very visual person and love beautiful, or interesting, cover art. It entices, and invites, me to stop and take a peek instead of walking right on by.’

I agree and this week’s Cover Attraction for me is actually a book I already have and will be reading soon. The reason I like it again is it’s a dark cover and for some strange reason I’m very attracted to that but also just for the creepiness of it. The strange, creepy and alone feeling I get just from looking at it. I just know I’m in for a good thrill when I start reading it. I think I may also have a thing for deserted farmhouses~not sure yet. LOL. So, here it is…

BoneMan’s Daughters by Ted Dekker. This book is being published by Hachette Book Group with a release date of April 14, 2009. Here’s a brief description from Hachette about the book…

They call him BoneMan, a serial killer who’s abducted six young women. He’s the perfect father looking for the perfect daughter, and when his victims fail to meet his lofty expectations, he kills them by breaking their bones and leaving them to die.

Intelligence officer Ryan Evans, on the other hand, has lost all hope of ever being the perfect father. His daughter and wife have written him out of their lives.

Everything changes when BoneMan takes Ryan’s estranged daughter, Bethany, as his seventh victim. Ryan goes after BoneMan on his own.

But the FBI sees it differently. New evidence points to the suspicion that Ryan is BoneMan. Now the hunter is the hunted, and in the end, only one father will stand.

Ooooh, doesn’t that sound good? I can’t wait to get started. I haven’t delved into a good thriller for a while now. How about you? Did you find any great covers this week that really grabbed your interest?

I love a good thriller too! That one is fantastic. I could just sit and look at it. We had a barn like that on the farm I grew up on, but it wasn’t nearly as creepy, or else I’d have had some serious baggage!

I wonder if anyone will be giving it away, LOL.
    I love Ted Dekker!
and I love this cover! I like it because I love pictures of barns.

I think it is the light against the dark that is so appealing to me. Sort of good vs evil kind of message for a thriller.
    good choice.

Wendy, I’ll be having a giveaway after I read it.

Lynne, Amazon and Chapters love me. I’m sure they know my name by now when it comes through. lol.

Viv, I don’t know. It may be. It seems you all have very different release dates than we do.

Kaye, I never thought of it like that but you’re right. Good eye!

I’m expecting this one too and can’t wait to read it! The cover was very appealing to me too. It looks like a painting and I really like the barn and farm image, especially since that’s similar to where I live. As Kaye mentioned, the contrast between the dark and light is what makes it so creepy. And creepy is so good for a thriller.

I like dark, creepy books and covers, though I probably shouldn’t read them late at night. Then I can’t sleep.

I’m excited to read this one too! Love Dekker and the premise of this book is very, very cool!! You’re a lucky duck to have it waiting for you to read 🙂 Enjoy and I can’t wait for your review!!

Gwendolyn, too funny. I know it’s pretty creepy isn’t it.

    Ti, perfect description-deliciously creepy.

Naida, I read House too and really liked it.

Wrighty, you know I just noticed that my book does not have this cover. Not really happy about that as this one is much creepier and cooler than the one I have. You’re right though, creepy is perfect for a thriller novel.

Anna, I love reading thrillers at night. It doesn’t bother me at all. Really I kind of like reading them once it gets dark.

Luanne, see above comment. I totally agree!

Staci, thanks. I feel like reading something scary right now so I think this will be perfect.

Wanda, yes it’s around a lot lately since it’s coming out April 14. I only wish my cover looked like this one.
