Morning everyone. Does anyone else feel as though they are walking around with a hangover? lol. I ended up shutting down the computer at 1:30 because I was afraid of dozing off and leaving it on all night. I suppose that would have been ok but I don’t like doing it.
Anyhow, I stated up until just about 3:30 am so 20 1/2 hours for me which is amazing. The good old arthritis has really kicked in this morning from being up so late and sitting too much but it was so worth it!
My final reading stats were…
- Total Pages Read: 586
- I visited a whole bunch of blogs somewhere around 11:30-midnight and there were lots of people up and still going strong.
- I finished 1 book and almost 1 other—Too Hot to Handle definitely was a read-a-thon type book.
I earned $29.30 for The Breast Cancer Foundation but will be donating $50 as I would have read much more if not for the headache and being groggy from tylenol.
I will definitely be doing things differently for the next read-a-thon like being more organized. I see some who have everything laid out so nicely and their totals recorded so well (Trish!) and it’s great. The videos that some do are fun to watch~note to self, learn how to use camera on computer. More moving around and less junk food and coffee and more water!
Thank you to all leaving comments. That was great and really encouraging. I know I didn’t visit enough of you but coordinating it all proved overwhelming for me! lol. Thanks again to the hosts for a great read-a-thon!
Congrats 🙂
I so have to read next time
You all did brilliant.. Huge congratulations
Storyheart
Congrats. I think I need to be more organized as well. I hear you on that one, but I think you did fantastic…more pages than me.
What a successful day! You read a book and raised money for charity. You rock!
Congrats Dar.. I wish I was in it with you. Good Job. Fabulous on the money your earned for Breast cancer awareness. I am so proud of you and many of those in blogland.
You did great! I’m sorry about the headache. Those things always move in when you least need them. I’m going to try really hard to figure out how to do this with my daughter next time!
I have an award for you at my place…after you have slept some, come on over and pick it up!
Congrats! YOu did great. 🙂
Congratulations! ^-^
And I agree: you donating to charity rocks! That’s a truly heartwarming thing to see.
awesome!! (I am like a zombie today…)
Congrats!! What an awesome day for you and everyone who participated. Reading and making money for charity is a great accomplishment. I hope that you can get some rest and recover today!!
This is awesome! I can’t wait until october!
What a great job you did Dar! I too did not feel like I was able to visit many blogs between reading, and mini-challenges and little things around the house I needed to take care of. Also, I started a book towards the end that I should have started earlier rather than spending two hours on a book that didn’t grab me and then ending up putting it down. While I was reading that one I found I was easily distracted and my reading just didn’t get in stride. But then I picked up Sarah’s Key and was so engrossed I could hardly put it down, but needed to for health’s sake. So, I agree, some books are just right for a challenge like this.
Hope you recover easily today.
*smiles*

You did a great job! Congrats to you!
You did great. I can’t wait until the next one so that I can cheer AND read! 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration.
What a challenge. I was having tons of fun following your progress and looking at your pictures 8) I might have to join in next time.
P.S. you have an award here, hope you don’t mind:

Well done, Dar! Hopefully next time you’ll be able to participate without the headache. 🙁 Hug Buddy for me!

Well done Dar. You did so well. I hope you don’t get a headache next time.
I don’t feel too hot today myself. Body aches are really kicking in. It’s amazing what staying up late does to us.
You did great and should be very proud of reading all those pages (with a headache no less!).
Great job! 20 1/2 hours is really impressive–especially for your first time! A spreadsheet for keeping track is super helpful. I ate too much junk food as well. I have only slept 2 hours–my hubby and I got up to go to church, but I think an afternoon nap is in order!
Thanks for all the encouraging comments!
You did really well Dar!
I need to actually have a clear day I think!
You did so great Dar! I hope the arthritis subsides a little as you get some rest today.
My camera has video capabilities–my computer does not. Part of the reason my vidoes are of such poor quaility.
Thanks for playing, Dar!! It was a lot of fun.
great job with the readathon! I really wish I could have played along.
Congrats, Dar! You all had done very well!
BTW, I’ve passed you an award! 🙂
Congrats on a job well done Dar! I always walk around with a “hangover” when I haven’t had enough sleep.
Congratulations, if I would have known about it sooner I would have joined. You did great!
Hi Dar! Love your blog! Great job on the Read-a-Thon! I’ve nominated you for a Premio Dardos award!

congrats Dar! Be proud!
Yay!! Great job!!!
Sounds like everyone had a great time!
How wonderful, I’m impressed by all of you who participated, maybe next year:)
I attempted the ReadAThon and did read about 450 pages so I am happy with that.. But I knew I Wasn’t even going to try to pull an all nightet yet I STILL feel groggy! I didn’t real a whole lot on Sunday.
Hi Dar – I have given you an award here
Great totals!!
I agree, I learned how to be more organizated for the next read-a-thon! And I desperately need to learn how to use the webcam so I can post a vlog 🙂
Great work!! You earned money for a great cause, and you got to do it by reading…that is perfect 🙂
Well done!! You are a super-reader! It was so nice of you to do it for charity, too.
Dar, congratulations on the Read-a-thon and the money you raised for a great cause. Next year, I hope to participate along with you and the otehrs. I’m stunned that people were able to blog and tweet as well!
YES – that’s a good characterization! I feel like I have a hangover!
you did great dar and very cool about donating the money to a great cause!

You did well under the circumstances. I was up for 20 hours, 2 hours longer than last year but my best reading was done in the first 12 hours I notice. And I crashed for two days afterward with my chronic fatigue of course, but it was fun doing the reading. I still have to do a wrap-up post but I read four books and I’m thrilled.
I think you did a great job. I hope you’re recovered now.

You did a great job and I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog during the read-a-thon, I really appreciate it 🙂
Congratulations on all you achieved – reading and funraising – Dar! Especially with not feeling great, you were up a LONG time!
I’d love to join as a reader in the fall; seems like so much fun!
Wow, thanks for all the wonderful comments everyone! It makes it worth it to stay up for 20 hours just to see all these great comments. lol.
I intend to plan much better next time around. Shorter books and a more sophisticated template to follow and yes a spreadsheet. Trish sent me one but obviously I didn’t put it to good use although I did try. Anyhow, I am looking forward to doing it again.
Thanks again for all the support. You guys all make blogging so worth it!
