Friday Finds is hosted by MizB from Should Be Reading and it asks us ‘what great books did you hear about/discover this past week?
I’ve got a couple this week…
The first is The Stolen One by Suzanne Crowley and it will be released on June 30, 2009 by HarperTeen. Here’s a bit about it from HarperTeen…
No one wanted you. But I did.
Kat’s true identity is a secret, even from her. All she has ever known are Grace and Anna and their small village. Kat wants more—more than hours spent embroidering finery for wealthy ladies and more than Christian, the gentle young farmer courting her.
But there are wolves outside, Grace warns. Waiting, with their eyes glowing in the dark . . . and Grace has given Kat safety and a home when no one else would.
Then a stranger appears in their cottage, bringing the mystery of Kat’s birth with her. In one night, Kat’s destiny finds her: She will leave. She will journey to London, and her skill with the needle will attract the notice of the magnificent Queen Elizabeth—and of the wolves of the court. She will discover what Grace would never tell her.
Everything will unravel.
The second one is The White Queen by Philippa Gregory which will be released on August 18, 2009 by Touchstone. I really enjoy Philippa Gregory’s novels and this one sounds quite good. Here’s a bit about it from Amazon.co.uk…
The first in a stunning new series, The Cousins War, is set amid the tumult and intrigue of The War of the Roses. Internationally bestselling author Philippa Gregory brings this family drama to colourful life through its women, beginning with the story of Elizabeth Woodville, the White Queen The White Queen tells the story of a common woman who ascends to royalty by virtue of her beauty, a woman who rises to the demands of her position and fights tenaciously for the success of her family, a woman whose two sons become the central figures in a mystery that has confounded historians for centuries: the Princes in the Tower whose fate remains unknown to this day. From her uniquely qualified perspective, Philippa Gregory explores the most famous unsolved mystery, informed by impeccable research and framed by her inimitable storytelling skills.
How about you? Did you find any good books this week that caught your eye? Leave me a link or share here in the comments.
I'm so excited about "The White Queen." I can't wait!
I have just recently delivered a thesis and have not really had the time to read too much fiction, let alone visit book stores 😉 However, the past few weeks I have been to both the bookshop, the library and last but not least, I've been to almost all the blogs on my blogroll to see what is going on there. And several books has caught my eye around those blogs. I am trying to add the most interesting ones I find to my Amazon Wishlist instead of writing them down on pieces of paper that goes missing as soon as I've written the title. But I did not buy any books this week 🙂
You found two good boks. The Stolen One seems nice.
Come find Colin Cotterill
I've not read any of the Gregory books. They all look good but I just haven't gotten around to them I guess.
I'm in love with those covers!!!! Must read these books!!!!
These are great finds Dar! I haven't read anything by Gregory yet, but I have certainly heard wonderful things about her book.
Great covers on those books!
The Stolen One definitely has my name on it. I love the cover too. I shall add to my list. Great finds Dar.
I got The White Queen too- not usually my style, but I might give it a try 🙂
I got Luxe in the mail from Alaine at Queen of Happy Endings. It looks really good. I believe it will be a good summer read.
I've added Philippa Gregory to my list. My visit to your blog today was so nice and comfortable, all about books! I just finished 'Out Stealing Horses' by Per Petterson; a bit melancholy but such fine writing. I liked it so much I just checked out his latest today.
Happy Friday!
Ooo, those sound good! Particulatly The Stolen One.
The White Queen caught my attention. Although, I have to admit I've been dragging my feet about reading any of her books after The Other Boleyn Girl. I liked it, but was a bit disappointed in it and it's put me off from reading some of her other books which sound so good. One of these days I'll be ready to try her again.
I have yet to read a Phillipa Gregory novel but know I should! I think I'm missing out on something really good. 🙂
The Stolen One sounds like my type of book. Great finds!
I am cautiously optimistic about the new Gregory. Not enough to shell out any cash, but I have already got it on request at the library.
Interesting finds 🙂 happy reading!!
You've been tagged with a meme, if you would like to participate check here 🙂

Wendy, I really loved The Other Boleyn Girl. It was one of my favorites. It's interesting how books hit us all in different ways.
