Good morning everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday. It’s blistering hot here and has been for days. We’re hoping this heat doesn’t bring any tornadoes our way. My poor dog doesn’t even want to be outside and he loves it out there there normally. Yesterday he went out to do some business and there’s a section on the sidewalk that goes from shade to sun. He put one paw on the other side with every intention of taking a stroll to the back gate – stopped, turned around, looked at me, and headed back for the shady part of the yard. lol – It was funny the way he looked at me – like it was my fault it was hot on his paw.
Anyhow, last night a friend and I went for a walk along our River Valley and I took a few pictures to share with you. The first is in the direction of the river that runs through the valley – you can just see it in this picture. Below is a beautiful golf course that runs all along the bank. The second picture is the skyline in the opposite direction with a view of the High Level Bridge. It was just beautiful there although really hot. There’s a bit of a path that goes down kind of into the valley and it’s a nice stroll to take. You can click on the pictures for an enlarged and better look.
Then, what would a Sunday be without your Sunday dose of Buddy. As you can very clearly see in the first picture he was none to happy about being photographed. I told him all his fans wanted to see him on my blog and he was a little more cooperative. This is his pretty new blue collar that I was talking about last week and a bit of a hair cut. I still need new clippers. I bought a new pair and they were useless so I have to take them back and do some more shopping. So these are still the old ones and they weren’t doing a bang-up job at all other than ticking my dog off. I think they may have been pulling on his fur a little bit.
Other than that, nothing too exciting has been happening because it’s been too hot. I’ve gotten a lot of reading done lately. I just finished Summer House by Nancy Thayer yesterday and it was quite good. Has anyone read it? I’ll have my review of it up tomorrow. Today I plan on finishing up Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella and starting Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross. Twenties Girl is quite good and I’m really looking forward to Pope Joan.
So, what’s everyone up to this Sunday? Doing anything exciting with your families or just relaxing with a book? Whatever you have planned for your day I hope it’s a wonderful one!
That Buddy is so so cute! It's so humid here you can't breath so we'll be spending the day indoors with AC. Bad storms are planned yikes!!
Enjoy your week Dar.
Hi Dar! Your pics look great! And Buddy is sooo cute, like a little toy you want to cuddle!
I'm trying to feel for you, Dar, I really really am. But we're over 100 degrees here and have been almost consistantly for several weeks. We're headed up to Yellowstone next week and I can't wait for the relief in heat. OK, maybe that was a bit insensitive of me. 😛
The pictures are absolutely lovely. I don't think I've been to a part of Canada that isn't simply breathtaking. Haven't been to your neck of the woods yet–just the Western coast and Ontario/Quebec.
And Buddy…what can I say? What a doll.
I think your heat is heading our way this coming week. It'll be the first time we have summery weather! Kind of late.
Buddy looks like he has quite the personality!
Didn't do much reading this week because I was on the road way too much. My mom ended up with a compression fracture of her spine and couldn't deal with the stairs up here so I had to make arrangements to get her to Florida where her condo is all on one level. So, I'm looking forward to a quiet, reading-filled week!
Hope yours is that way, too!
I've been in Indiana for the last two weeks with my kids visiting my parents, and they have had record lows for any July in history! I am so loving it! Tomorrow I have to go back to the hell on earth of Florida, where even at night it doesn't get below 80. Ugh! I have been a reading machine up here. I just started Blindness, which C.B. James and I will be reviewing for BBAW. And thanks for the Buddy fix. He is such a good boy!
Love the pictures… especially of Buddy. 🙂
I think we are supposed to get some humidity this coming week. It really hasn't been too hot or humid this summer. I've only had my fan on at night a couple of times.
Have a good rest of your weekend!
It is REALLY hot & humid here as well, so I understand Buddy's reluctance to leave the shade. I've got some projects to work on this afternoon, so will just hide inside.
Beautiful photos!

Sorry but please keep your hot weather. I'm not a big fan of hot hot summers anymore. Its been pretty cool here in Midwest. Love your pictures – he is an absolute doll. I need to give my dog a haircut too and it just is not the funniest thing in the world to do.
Beautiful area you live in.
I love the picture of Buddy in his blue collar!
I haven't heard of Twenties Girl, but I really like Sophie Kinsella's stand alone books (I'm not a fan of the Shop-a-holic books though).
The weather's been crazy here too. It's been in the 90's with high humidity. Yuck! It's supposed to get over 100 in the next few days.
Hi, Buddy! Loved the picture of him with his head tilted to the side…
It's hot here too. Makes me lethargic!
I'll trade you some of our fog for some of your sun! I have a spectacular view of the ocean
— when you can see it, lol!
Angie-our lab/shepard mix, doesn't like the heat either (we are alloted one or two fog free days per summer) and enjoys crunching on ice cubes when she gets too hot. Buddy is a bit smaller but might enjoy some ice-chips to help cool him off. Great pics of the little guy … he looks so regal in the first one and so inquisitive in the next!
After weeks of frustration with IE, I finally took your suggestion and downloaded Mozilla Foxfire — what a difference! Visiting my favourite sites and book blogs is a pleasure once again, thanks Dar!!
Thanks for sharing those beautiful pics Dar. I wanted to let you know that I gave you an award today.
Buddy is trying to be cute on purpose in that second picture, isn't he? He has to be 😛
Sorry to hear about the heat! I hate heat, so you have my sympathy.
I'm so glad you told Buddy we wanted to see him. He is adorable!
I wish we would get some of your heat…it's rained here every day for a week straight!! Buddy needs flip-flops so his paws don't get burned!! 🙂
Sounds like you're getting some serious reading done. Today I just helped out my hubby move furniture and declutter a bit. I love those views…oh awesome is that?
What cute pictures of Buddy with his new blue collar! Maggie doesn't like to be out in the heat either – she's black and gets way too hot.
I've read Pope Joan and really liked it.
buddy! my mom says you look very handsome with your spiffy new haircut!! and i really like your blue collar – mine is red.
i keep trying to write more on my blog, but the whole internet thing has been an issue. mom went to get a new router today, maybe then i can keep up with your mom's blog and also my own!!!!!
puppy hugs! (p.s. my 1st birthday is AUG 1!!!)
It's rather hot here too! (Hey, it's no surprise since we've summer all year round) 😛
Love the pics! Very nice view! And Buddy is so cute! 🙂
Dar, I have to tell you – I clicked on your first picture of Buddy because he's so cute, why wouldn't I want to see a big picture? For some reason, there are all these dots of colors all over him that are only evident in the enlargement – makes him look like a really cuddly stuffed animal or an impressionist painting. You're lucky to have the real thing right there with you!
Tell Buddy that he is extremely photogenic.
Those are great pictures. And of course Buddy looks like such a doll. 🙂 I didn't get up to much today apart from baking a cake for my mother in law's birthday. I will taste it tomorrow, woo! 🙂
Buddy is adorable as always!
I did a lot of reading yesterday, and reorganizing my ARCs for the upcoming month. I also packed up a box of books to send to my sister and Mom..need to clear out space and make room for more books!
HI Dar:) Well, it's now Monday morning, but I still thought I'd drop you a line. You're sooo lucky it'sd hot there! We had a BBQ here yesterday in the rain and 16 degrees! we thought we may as well have a BBQ anyway since it seems that summer has totally passed over Montreal..
I love your doggy!!! and love to see photos of him. Have a great week, Dar:)
He is such a prince Dar. Too sweet. Nice to see pictures of where you live. What a nice stroll you must have had. Happy Monday to you.
Well, Buddy just must be the handsomest guy in all of Canada! Pretty dam hot here in FL too. It's either in the ac in the house or in the pool. There's not too much in between.
Great pictures Dar!! It's starting to warm up here, it's actually been a cool summer in the midwest!
Everyone, thanks so much for stopping by and sharing my Sunday with me. I'm glad you all enjoyed the pics and of course Buddy says thank you so much for all the compliments!
Trish, enjoy your trip!
Linda, I hope your mom is ok and that you get caught up on your reading this week.
Wanda, Buddy loves ice chips! I'm so glad you downloaded Firefox, it's just so much better!
Nymeth, I was telling Buddy that everyone wanted to see him on my blog and he tilted his head that way so yes I think that was on purpose. lol.
Bandit—we miss you!
How beautiful!
And Buddy looks adorable with his new coller. Blue is a good color for him 🙂
awwwww….Buddy is cute as usual!!!
He looks so well behaved sitting like that. He probably looked at ya to let you know, 'mom the floor is very hot' lol
very nice pics!

awesome pics! i first thought there had to be 3 top pics! but then I couldn't think much, distracted by the handsome Buddy! 🙂
ain't he just CUTE!
Sunday – I was in Bombay 🙂 at my parents home with my hubby ! we were having loads of fun!
i really need to do a post on that!
Buddy is absolutely cute! Love all the pics!
I'm sorry I took so long to visit you. The past one week had been a busy week for me. I wasn't blogging regularly either.
Buddy is a doll! It's been hot and stormy around here, and I'm quite sick of it.
