Happy Sunday & Pic of Buddy and Me

August 2, 2009 by Darlene

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. This top picture is of my favorite pot of flowers again. These are called wave petunias and we have about 5 pots of them but this one is my favorite because of the white flowers in it. They have just been pouring out of the basket (you can click on the pics for enlarged views). That is my garden back there too, it’s been doing pretty good. I’ve had a few good dishes full of peas and one dinner of beans so far – Yummo!

It was a quiet weekend here except for storms again last night. It wasn’t bad in my area but in a town not far from me where they were having a yearly concert a horrible wind went through with thunder, lightning and hail and it tore up the tents and the stage collapsed. A lot of devastation and a lot of people hurt. Other than the winters being bad here, we do get an awful lot of bad and damaging storms during the summer. We’ve been lucky in our area. It seems the really bad storm seems to pass over us and hit another part of the city.

Last week was a slow one. We had a family member pass away so things were really quiet. I did get a lot of reading done though. I’ll have my July update up some time this week. I sure hope August will be just as good. I’d like to tackle a few books from my challenges this month. I just finished Hugh and Bess by Susan Higginbotham and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll have my review up tomorrow. She became a favorite author of mine after reading The Traitor’s Wife and she didn’t disappoint me with this one either. Today I’m starting Mr. Darcy, Vampyre and I’m looking forward to it. It will also count towards the Everything Austen Challenge. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

And of course I have some pictures to share although Buddy was none to happy to have pictures done yesterday. He was quite temperamental actually and even bribing him with treats wasn’t working as well as usual. I think he was just hot and cranky like the rest of us. Anyhow this first one is his favorite spot to sprawl out on the back step when it’s hot. Our back step is in the shade most of the day so the cement stays nice and cool. The second picture is of yours truly and Buddy and as you can plainly see he was tired of the whole posing routine and just wanted to get away from me by then. lololol.

So, what are you all up to today? Doing anything exciting or just hanging around enjoying summer, your family or maybe getting some reading done like me. Whatever it is I hope you’re having a good day!

Wow, Dar, those flowers are fantastic. I've looked at them in the spring before but was never sure if they produced as promised. Next year I'm getting me some of those!

I love having a garden to get fresh food out of. It's the only thing that gets me through our very, very long winters!

The flowers are beautiful, and so are you and Buddy! You know I will never get tired of Buddy pictures! I read Amy's review of Hugh and Bess, and I really need to get my hands on it (any giveaways perchance?). On the somber note, I am very sorry you lost a family member. I'll say a prayer for you.

My daughter has a friend over, and my son is down at Disney with a friend at their virtual video game attraction. I've done my awful hot work outside, and for the rest of the day I'm going to swim and read!

    Hi Dar!
I'm sorry to hear about your loss.
The flowers on your pics are very common here. My mom has all sorts of them.
I just heard about that storm in the Croatian news. That's so sad, a reminder of how infinitesimal we are in comparisson to nature…

That pic of you and Buddy is too cute. Your flowers look beautiful, stormy or not ๐Ÿ™‚

Today we are heading out to a pool party but my husband has to work a second job now (economy crap) so I have to wing it until he gets there. It's been a stressful morning getting the food together with the kids at me but it's settling down now.

Loved your pictures! That is a real cure doggie and some beautiful flowers. I hope you have a nice August. I haven't had my summer vacation yet, but have one more week and then two weeks off. We are still contemplating if we are going abroad or just going to stay at home. Sorry that you had a family member pass away. My friend died earlier this month, and it does make things quiet and a time for thinking, I guess.

Gorgeous flowers, Dar! I love petunias. And Buddy is adorable as always–very cute pic of you two. Give him a hug from me ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you're enjoying your Sunday. I have yet to start in on any reading. I have been really trying to go through a lot of blog posts today and I can't seem to drag myself away from the laptop. I did manage to get some pictures hung up that I wanted to, so now I just need to start reading my next book!!

    Have a great week!!

Such lovely photos! Buddy is so adorable–and look at those flowers! I wish I didn't have such a brown thumb. No matter how hard I try, I can't keep anything alive. I just don't have that magic touch.

I am glad the storm last night passed over you. So terrible about those hurt at the concert.

I am so sorry for your loss, Dar. My thoughts are with you.

I haven't any special plans today. Hubby wants to go out for lunch and is leaning over me now and then to get me moving. I guess I'd better actually get dressed so we can go.

    Have a great week, Dar!
