News, Updates, Giveaways, and other Stuff

September 15, 2009 by Darlene

Hi everyone, I’m back I think! I hope anyway. Not sure if I’ll be blogging as regularly as I used for a while but we’ll see. I’ll try anyway.

First off I’d like to thank all of you who sent me emails checking up on my family and me (you know who you are). You are all wonderful ladies and I appreciate all of you and value the friendships I’ve formed with you.

As for news, my dad is still having problems. He’s seeing a specialist tomorrow so hopefully we will have some direction one way or the other as to what can be done.

Buddy got really sick on me. He wasn’t feeling well a while back but went on antibiotics and seemed ok but really wasn’t. He ended up getting sicker with pancreatitis and severe intestinal problems. I have an extremely wonderful vet who made a special trip in on the long weekend to see Buddy and gave him a pile of meds which seemed to have helped. So far he seems to be doing well. He’s on pro-biotics now to try to straighten him out more naturally because every time we have to put him on antibiotics it’s hard on his pancreas. So, those of you who know me know how crazy I am about my dog so as you can well imagine I was terrified when he was sick. It just broke my heart to see him like that. Now he’s more ticked off because I still can’t give him dry food or treats and we all know how partial Buddy is to his treats.

Then, because all of this isn’t enough I managed to severely sprain my foot and tear some ligaments in my leg. I was getting off my bed, my foot was completely numb, and well the rest is history. I’m hobbling around on my crutches and I’m cranky and miserable about it.

Needless to say I haven’t been blogging. I haven’t even been reading. I know-I can hear the big gasp! Between my dad, the dog and me I just didn’t have the energy or desire. The stress of the last few weeks put my arthritis into a flare up so that hasn’t helped. I’m hoping to start getting caught up now .

As for giveaways I’m hoping to get all the contests drawn tonight and posted. Those of you waiting for stuff to be mailed from me-Carrie, Belinda, Sandy, Sheri, April—to name a few – the stuff is coming but it’ll probably be next week before I’ll be steady enough on my feet to make it to the post office.

So, now to catch up. My google reader was off the charts. Sorry to all that I normally visit but I’ll be marking everything as read and starting over. I do hope to start visiting your blogs again soon. I don’t know if I’ll be doing as much to start as it depends what happens with my dad. He also has to have some surgery on Thursday for skin cancer so we’ll just have to wait and see how it all goes but I hope to get back to some semblance of organization soon.

Thanks again to all of you who got in touch. I really appreciate and luv all of you!

    Dar,
I wish I lived next door to you!! I would help you out with Buddy, run your stuff to the post office, keep your tea hot!! I totally understand how when life gets hectic/chaotic that at times other things take a backseat. As you already know I'm thinking and praying for you, your Dad, and Buddy!!

Girl, I've been wondering and worrying about you. Things come in threes, so I would say that the barrage of awfulness should be finished with you. Don't worry about sending packages right now…we will live. You get better and know I'm thinking of you!

    Hi Dar,
I am very sorry to hear about all the troubles. I hope your dad and Buddy will get better (I can only imagine what you went through watching him suffer, it's like watching your child being sick). I also hope your sprained ankle won't give you too much trouble. I am sending my thoughts and hugs your way.

Dar – I am so sorry that you have had to deal with so many things at once. A very typical English saying but 'when it rains, it pours.' I had wondered where you had gone and should have guessed all was not good. You were really missed.

I hope you all start to feel better soon and things start to ease up for you. Sending hugs down the line.

The best thing you can do is take care of yourself and the last thing you need to stress about is blogging. No one is going anywhere- we all care about you so much.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad and I hope things improve for him, I hope your ankle feels better soon and your arthritis calms down and I hope Buddy feels much better very soon. I know how terrible it is to see our beloved pets ill.
Hang in there Dar and take care. It's good to see you post again.
If there's anything I can do, including listen, please feel free to email me.
