Good Sunday morning everyone! Well it was a long week here with the snow and blowing cold but it all melted yesterday and today we woke to rain. Hopefully it passes as our temperatures and rain can only lead to very icy conditions. Here’s a few pictures of Buddy enjoying the snow which he loves! However he’s strange, this morning it’s wet from rain and he won’t go onto the lawn except for one little paw. Yet when it snows he’s in there like a crazy dog- I don’t get it. lol.
This first pic he’s totally enjoying himself with his nose to the ground. I tried getting one when he lifts his head and he looks like he has a white beard but he’s too fast for me. I’ll get one this winter yet though.
This next pic I’m trying to convince him to pose for me in the snow but he walked out onto the sidewalk instead and as you can see from the raised paw and the look from under his fur that he is not happy with mommy bugging him at all.
Buddy has been doing pretty good. The little bugger caught his foot on the bench outside yesterday while he was jumping off and managed to crack his head pretty good on the sidewalk but seems fine. I tell you if it’s not one thing lately, it’s another. We’re still not out of the woods with his tummy. If it stays stable another week then that would be very good news indeed so that’s my biggest prayer for the week other than my pops does well on his heart tests.
On to reading – let’s see what am I reading right now. Oh I picked up Cleopatra’s Daughter by Michelle Moran yesterday morning (sorry I’m so late with it Michelle) and I’ll probably finish it today. As usual she captured my interest from the first paragraph and I’m finding it impossible to put down. I’m also reading Pendragon’s Banner Book 2 by Helen Hollick – another favorite of mine. I have a review of A Change in Altitude by Anita Shreve and The Last Will of Moira Leahy by Therese Walsh (which was very good) coming this week.
I got together my book list for the Read-a-thon taking place next Sunday on October 24. I definitely will not read all of these but these are the ones I’ll be choosing from.
- The Frozen Thames by Helen Humphreys
- Dancing with Ana by Nicole Barker
- Prada & Prejudice by Mandy Hubbard
- Imitations of Austen by Jane Greensmith
- Knight’s Angel by Ronda Melendez
- Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquirel
- The Witch’s Trinity by Erika Mailman
- Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
- Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks
- Janeology by Karen Harrington
A couple of these are review copies but the rest are all my own. I went through my shelves and tried to pick some books that would be fun and easy to read. I think I succeeded but we’ll see. I’m really looking forward to next weekend already and have to get some snackies in order and also my meals ready so I don’t have to waste time cooking.
Well that’s all I have for you today. I’m just enjoying my morning coffee – it’s just starting to turn light outside and it’s quiet inside the house and out. Very nice and Buddy is relaxing up on my shoulder looking outside getting a bit more of a snooze in before he gets himself in gear for the day.
What are all of you up to today? Doing anything special with your family, friends or just relaxing with a book today? I also hope to get some reading of blogs done today after I write my reviews so some of you may see me around eventually… Have a great Sunday everyone! Thanks for visiting Buddy and I!
Oh my…how can you not want to just cuddle Buddy all the time? I think I'd have a hard time leaving him alone. π Hope this week goes well with Buddy and your father!!
And yay read-a-thon!! Like Water for Chocolate should be a pretty quick one. I'm so glad you're participating again this year, Dar!
Look at that-I'm on top of at least one blog this morning. π
I just love when you share pictures of Buddy…he is SO cute! Good luck on the readathon..I'll try and stop by to cheer you on at some point. Not going to participate myself but that is due to having to work all day. Yuck! Have fun though π
Buddy is so cute! I love watching those nose to the snow zip-zaps. You have to wonder what is going through their minds!
Good luck with your dad's tests. I'm thinking about you guys (and you with the Read A Thon)!
I love the new look, It is very classy!
Good luck with your dog and dad's health issues, I hope everything turns out well.
I will try the read a thon by staying OFF of the computer, I can stuck reading blogs and commenting all day long instead of reading, that's how all of my weekends wind up.
Love the Buddy pics! Not loving the snow myself- we had an unexpected bit of it blowing into our area- almost 2 months earlier than it should be!!!
Glad Buddy is feeling better! And good luck with your Dad's tests! I hope they all turn out well!
As for reading… I've got a great big cookbook I'm reviewing for tomorrow's post! It's called How To Roast a Lamb and today is cooking day because of it! It's a greek cookbook and I'm making what appears to be a delicious lunch! No lamb though- I used chicken… After I sample the fare, I'll be typing out my (and hubby's) reaction.
Have a great day!
Suzanne
Being from Denmark where we seldom have snow (if any) until January, but where we all wish for a white Christmas, I find snowy pics to look so cosy, although I know that its not always like that! Loved the images though.
About your reading, then Dead until Dark is a fast and fun read π
Wow, you did get snow. We only got a dusting on Fri. it was gone by noon.
I am glad to hear that Buddy is doing "OK" I will keep up the prayers for him and your Dad!
I am so glad that you are doing the read-a-thon! This is my first one. I am excited. Any words of wisdom for a newbie?
I read "Dead Until Dark" it is a good book for this, quick easy read that will keep your attention.
My husband would love a dog but I'm the one who has to clean up after it so I keep saying no. We had three dogs over the years the kids were growing up but now, no more. BUT, when I see pictures of Buddy, I can feel my determination wavering!
Best of luck with the Read-a-thon, your dad's tests, and buddy's condition!
Look at the snow. Buddy does not seem to mind (such a cutie). I hope all goes well for both Buddy and your dad. Have fun at the read-a-thon –good variety!
It looks like a good reading list! The only book on the list I've actually read is Dead Until Dark. It didn't rock my world, but it was a fun read. π
I guess that is the fun of living in Canada, huh? I can't believe you have snow already! Poor doggy has cold tootsies! You have a great list of books for the read-a-thon. I will be there with you in spirit!
Buddy looks like he's enjoying himself in the snow! Hope he has another good week. You've got some great books picked out for the read-a-thon. Dead Until Dark seems to be popular this time around. Like Water for Chocolate is the only one I've read. Have a great week!
Love the Buddy pics, Dar. Hope he keeps feeling better. Good luck with the read-a-thon!
I loved Cleopatra's Daughter. Really looking forward to reading M.Moran's earlier books (I have one on the shelf now).
We've done a bit of yard work – no snow near our area yet. Now watching some football on tv and I'm reading blogs : )
Buddy looks so cute out there in the snow! Of course, he won't pose for you when you want him too just like my kitties! I so glad his little head is okay after hitting it on the sidewalk, poor guy. Continuing positive thoughts and prayers from NY to you that Buddy's stomach does well and your dad's tests go really well.
Great books you're reading or about to read! Cleopatra's Daughter sounds so good – one day I'm going to read it. And Anita Shreve is one of my favorite authors, some of her books are better than others but I always like her writing.
I'm really looking forward to the readathon, too! My husband so how excited I was so he wants to do it too. He's a reader and a sort of blogger although his blog is….well, different…it's where he vents about things! But it'll be fun to have both of us here reading for 24 hours. I should think about getting food together and things so it doesn't interfere with the readathon. I don't think the cats will change their expectations for us that day though!
You've got a great list of books ready, Dar! I'm going to post my list today or tomorrow.
Enjoy your Sunday!
I'm somewhat frightened of all the snow you have, I do NOT want it to come here yet! I'm glad that Buddy's feeling well enough to be out playing in it, though, even if he's not totally in the clear. My thoughts and prayers are with your dad on his tests.
Snow!
now that i'm done with my errands, i'm just trying to stay out of the snow! buddy looks adorable as always! π
Hi Dar, awwwww….Buddy is too cute! Hope his tummy is ok.
Wow, you got lots of snow already. We had a dusting here this past week.
I have the Michelle Moran book in my TBR.
Happy reading :O)

I can't believe you already had that much snow!!! I'm so not looking forward to winter. Buddy is too funny. My in-laws have a dog that refused to go outside while it was raining. She could've cared less that her bladder was killing her…dogs are funny that way!! Sounds like you did some serious reading this week. I'm going to have to go through my books and see what I'm going to try to read next week too!!
Eep! Snow already! I actually envy you…it's still t-shirt weather here, and I'm ready for some cold!
I'm glad to hear Buddy has been doing okay π As always, he's adorable.
Buddy looks like he is having fun. π I wonder what my animals would think of snow, especially my dog. He'd probably be scared of it at first. π I am glad to hear Buddy is feeling better. Hopefully that will continue and he won't have anymore problems.
I still have to get to Cleopatra's Daughter. I'm not sure I'll be able to this month. I'm doing a buddy read with Kailana this month and will have to start on that book soon. And there are a couple of other books I want to get to before the month is out.
Looks like you are well prepared for the read-a-thon! Good luck and have fun! Have a great week, Dar.
Buddy is so cute in the snow. Our dog is 14 and has only seen snow a few times, so she doesn't know what to make of it when she sees it.
I can't get over all of that snow! At least Buddy likes it, as always the pics are adorable! Hope he has a good week and the tests go well for your dad. I'll cheer you on for the readathon! Someday, I'll give it a try.
Darlene, Buddy looks so cute in the snow!
I love reading and viewing more pics of Buddy! I hope you've a great week ahead, Dar! π
My read-a-thon list is scheduled for tomorrow. I think you picked some good ones.
Buddy looks great.. Oh no! A smack on the head! Hope his is well.. The snow looks so very very cold.
Hi Dar π Wow, you are in the snow and I was at the beach soaking up the sun…LOL
It is nice to visit here and your blog is looking beautiful…as always!
I love the rose banner….Beautiful!
Have a Happy Day!
Glad to hear Buddy is doing better! Hope things continue to go well for your dog and dad both!
We had a few flurries here too earlier in the week but nothing that sticks around yet.
Hello Dar! Hello Buddy! I want more Buddy pics! π
Adorable pictures. I hope everything goes well for buddy and your Dad.
I don't have my read-a-thon list yet. I keep staring at my bookshelves, though.
Buddy is such an adorable little guy! I can just wince thinking of him cracking his head, poor Buddy. Hope he has continued good luck this week.
Prayers to both him and your dad.
Looks like you're all ready for the readathon, good luck!
Buddy is really sweet. I pray that everything will be okay with him and your dad!
That's a great list of books. I will check them out. Happy reading!
Oh Dar, I love your pics of Buddy. He is so adorable and I love reading your comments about him – you can tell that he is cherished beyond words and that you simply love him to pieces. I am glad to hear he is doing well and will keep my fingers crossed that all goes well this week. Also that everything comes back well for you Dad!
You have a great list of books for the read-a-thon!!!
Buddy is such a clutz! Poor puppy.
I like your list of books for the read-a-thon. Witch Trinity is on my tbr too! Enjoy and happy reading π
Buddy is so cute! I wonder if D.J. will like the snow. Were sure to find out sometime this winter. LOL!
I love your new header.
Dar…. Buddy is sooooooooo CUTE~ I wonder how ours will react to snow… She loved eating ice once in a while though π
And I hope and pray both your dad and Buddy.. get well soon… and well Buddy dear..stop being Naughty now.. π Moma is always worrying about you π
Lovely LIST! I loved Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel! I so loved it.. I hope you like it too π
Have fun for Read-a-thon!
I hope buddy is feeling better…he's still adorable even if he doesn't want to be pestered.
I broke down and signed up for read-a-thon again
Buddy looks adorable in the snow! Let's hope his tummy stays well this week, and that your dad is doing well too. I hope you have a very productive Read-a-Thon day and that you get lots of good, uninterrupted reading done.
Snow. *shudders* But Buddy is adorable. I hope he and your dad have both received good news in the health department!
And that's a neat and tidy Read-a-Thon list. ^-^ I think I have "The Witch's Trinity" somewhere on my TBR stack as well.
LOL Buddy is just adorable. The pic where he lifted his paw is sooo cute! Happy reading, your list is awesome!
