Sunday Update

October 4, 2009 by Darlene

Hi everyone, sorry no pictures for you this week. I thought I’d pop in and give a little update of things here. I’ve still got a sick puppy so, of course, I’m still pretty stressed out. We will probably be going to the vet’s again this week and looking into trying some long term meds for Buddy to see if it’ll help his tummy. I just really want my baby to go back to feeling good and being his old self. Those of you who know me well know how much my little guy means to me so needless to say I really haven’t been myself lately either.

Other than that my foot is pretty much healed up although I’m still having some pain that may need to be rechecked. My pops is going for a multitude of tests this month so not a lot of news there yet. It has been very cold here – winter is definitely in the air and I’m not looking forward to seeing the first snowflake at all. Our trees are turning and the grass is no longer green. I dragged out my winter coat yesterday to take the dog out and today all the fleecy, warm things will be coming out of storage as well.

On the reading front I’m getting some done but not as much is my norm but that’s ok. At this point there are more important things. I’m reading Hex in High Heels by Linda Wisdom right now and it’s a good read when you need something to take you away from things for a while. Also up on the plate is The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck for my book club, Highland Rebel by Judith James, God is an Englishman by R.F. Delderfield, Eating Pomegranates by Sarah Gabriel, The Last Will of Moira Leahy by Therese Walsh and last but certainly not least is Pendragon’s Banner Book Two by Helen Hollick which I can’t wait to read. So there’s my reading schedule for the month. I hope to read them all but some will depend on how my dog is doing.

So what is everyone else up to this Sunday? What are you guys reading – anything good? Tell me something good as I need some cheering up. Oh yeh, I’ve been trying to visit a few blogs here and there so don’t be surprised if I pop up at least once this week.

Dar, I love that picture! And fall is definitely in the air here as well although today the sun is shining and I couldn't be enjoying the weather more 🙂 I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Linda Wisdom's newest book…I've really liked the two of hers that I have read so far.
I hope Buddy gets better soon. It is no fun to have a sick animal. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday 🙂

Poor puppy! I really hate it when our animals are sick. Sometimes I think it is worse for us than it is for them–at least in the worry department. I'll be thinking good thoughts and send good well wishes to Buddy.

I am glad your foot is doing much better. And I hope all goes well with your dad.

The temperatures are getting cooler where I live too. I had hoped it would rain since the weather reports suggested it would. No such luck yet.

I hope you have a good Sunday, Dar. I'm hoping to settle in with my book soon. I'm feeling tired though and may end up taking a nap.

Dar: Glad to hear that you're hanging in there! I'm sending all good thoughts and wishes for your dad and Buddy.

I'm looking forward to that Pendragon book, too. I just might have to skip over a couple of others and dive into it!

    Hi Dar!
I'm sending you a BIG hug to share with your Dad, Buddy and yourself! I hope all turns out all right!

I know how it is with a sick puppy! They're our babies and can't tell us what's wrong, so we have to figure it all out with tests and time!

    You take care,
    Suzanne

Poor Buddy! I really really hope he gets well soon. And I know what you mean about now feeling yourself while he's sick. Best wishes for your both!

I am so sorry Dar that Buddy is still not feeling well, I wish I could do or say something to make you feel better but you know how close to Oliver I am so you know I understand how you must feel.
Hold him close to you for me.

Again if you need to vent, talk or cry please send me an e-mail.

Hope your dad gets the care he needs, tests are no fun.

Dar it's good to see your post. I'm sorry to hear Buddy is still sick. I hope the vet can help this week. I'm sending you, Buddy and your pops lots of positive thoughts.

I'm reading Mrs. Miracle by Debbie Macomber. It's a book from the late 90s and will be a movie on the Hallmark Channel in early December. I may start Hugh and Bess when I finish there. Tomorrow I'm reviewing Angel Lane by Sheila Roberts for the start of her blog tour.

This week will be busy. My son is getting married on Saturday so I have a lot of last minute details to take care of. All good stuff.

Take care and know you've got a lot of people wishing you well!

Oh Dar–I've been thinking about you so much lately. I'm sorry to hear that Buddy is still having problems, but hopefully with some new meds he'll get better. I'm glad your feet is healing quickly, though. I'll be keeping you and yours in my thoughts.

And boo to the cold weather! We've had our first cold front (still nothing to complain about) and I fear a cold and wet winter. Not ready!!

    Take care, my dear.

I am sending all of you ailing folks (and dog) up there some good tidings. We need to get you on the mend! I cannot believe you are getting winterish weather already. It dipped down to the mid 70's for a couple of days (cold front!) but now it is back up in the 90's again. By this time, I am cursing the heat. I am over it. I'll send some of that up to you!

    Take care!! 🙂

I'm sorry you've had such a rough time of it. I sure hope Buddy feels better soon.

I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and was very surprised by it (in a good way). I am about to pick up Of Bees and Mist again, I keep putting it down and it's no fault of the book itself. It's just me. I seem to be easily distracted these days.

I hope you feel better & things settle down for you soon. I hope your dog gets better soon too, that's a bummer when pets are sick. A good thing? It's a beautiful day in New England and I just came back from a terrific agricultural fair where I saw cute bunnies and llamas and all kinds of things. And ate a bunch of junk food and generally had a good time! 🙂

Hope Buddy is feeling better soon…poor little guy! Sending good wishes along to you and your Dad, too. I read Winter of our Discontent when I was in high school and loved it. Have been wanting to see what I think of it now, so I'll look forward to your review. Have a great week, Dar!

I hope that things start looking up for you and Buddy very soon. I know how stressful it can be to have a sick pet. They really are like children sometimes, and when they get sick, it can eat you up. I am glad to hear that your foot is doing better, and hope that your father's test come out well.

As for the weather, I am hoping for some coldness soon, and since I live in South Florida, I don't think that wish will be granted any time soon. We are lucky if we get a whole month of coolness a year down here.
