Teaser Tuesday (Oct. 13)

October 13, 2009 by Darlene

Well I hope to have a guest post from Linda Wisdom for you today. She’s been traveling and trying to catch up and I can sure understand the whole catching up thing. lol. So for now I’m going to post a teaser for you all.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teasers today come from Knit the Season by Kate Jacobs…

  • ‘The tiny shop — the shelves packed to bursting with yarns fuzzy, nubbly, itchy, and angel-soft, it’s walls a kaleidoscope of cocooning pastels and luxurious jewel shades —‘ (pg 14, ARC copy)
  • ‘It was the place where each one of the women knew it was safe to share struggles and dreams.’ (pg 24, ARC copy)

The first teaser is for us yarn lovers and the second one for everyone. Anyone who does any yarn crafts can relate to walking into a yarn shop and just feeling like they are in their own little piece of heaven for a while.

I just started this book but I’ll likely be finished it sometime tomorrow. The Friday Night Knitting Club series is one of my favorites so I’m relishing every word as I never want these books to end. How about you? Do you have any teasers this week? Share in the comments or leave a link to your post for me.

I haven't gotten to the first in the series yet. It's on my shelves. I was thinking wintertime would be a perfect time to read it. Great teaser!

Believe it or not, as much as I love to knit, I have never read of these books! I guess I should.

There are certainly a lot of books with knitting themes around these days, aren't there? It's been years since I did any knitting, but I still love to browse yarn shops when I get the chance. Sounds like a great series – nice teasers!

I am not a knitter, but there are plenty of people here in blogdom that are. I can imagine these teasers are making them salivate for yarn!

I've not heard of (or at least I can't remember hearing of) that knitting series. I'll have to put it on my hold file at the library. It sounds Debbie Maccumber-ish (spelling is wrong but I'm too tired to fix it), and I enjoy her. Sounds like a light escapist read and I do like those!

My teaser is from a non-fiction book — I don't necessary read tons of these, but a friend gave me her reviewer copy after she finished. It's about how unconscious factors — our
unconscious and subconscious — really affect huge portions of not only our lives but kind of the world in general, business, religion, etc. If nothing else, you come away with a much better sense of the tools of manipulation!

    Here's the teaser:
"” The male student who told his girlfriend, “Don't consider this an erection on my part,” meant to reassure her that he did not intend a rejection, but, just as clearly, something else was on his mind. While many slips of the tongue can be explained as mere verbal accidents, others clearly seem to have meaning."
