Sunday Stuff & Pic of Buddy

November 15, 2009 by Darlene

Hi everyone. It seems ages since I’ve done a Sunday post. First off I’d like to apologize for not doing a lot of commenting on blogs this last bit. When the weather gets cold here my rheumatoid arthritis sets into my hands with a vengeance. They’ve been awfully sore and my computer time has been kind of limited to getting my posts done for the week. This year seems to be worse on my joints than last year so maybe that has something to do with getting yet another year older. lol. Anyhow, I hope to still keep in touch but it may not be as often as before.

In other news I realize I haven’t done an update on my dad for a while now. He is going to be seeing a heart surgeon and they are going to be essentially kick starting his heart to see if it will fix the condition he has. Seems very scary to me and I’m very nervous about him having it done but at the same time this is apparently something they do quite often.

Buddy is still having some tummy troubles although not as bad as before. We’re going to try him on a different food to see if that helps as it could be food allergies giving him trouble. I’d just really like to get him settled so he can go back to his old life of getting treats and all that good stuff. The poor little guy still runs to his cupboard for his treats and it breaks my heart. I bought him a new coat for the winter and he let me take a couple of pictures of him this morning for you all. He’s just a big furball right now as he gets much too stressed when he has a haircut so the vet wants me to hold off. I’m going to try to thin out his hair somehow at least but haven’t figured out a good way yet.

Not much else going on here. The weather is getting cold but luckily enough still no snow. I’m hoping it stays that way clear into December if not further. That would make our winter very short and that’s always a good thing.

Oh yeh, I caved and bought myself a Sony eReader and I actually like it quite a bit. It’s surprisingly easy on the eyes which I really like. I’ve taken to reading it at night as I was having a lot of trouble with print copies of books at night even with a light on. Right now on my eReader I’m reading a book called Raising Rain by Debbie Fuller Thomas and really liking it. Also I’ve got Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and Bel Canto by Ann Patchett on the go on there. In paper copies I’ve got The Girl on Legare Street by Karen White and The Magic Warble by Victoria Simcox on the go.

So that’s the news from me for the last little while. My goodness I have certainly babbled on here this morning. Well I’m off to write a review for you all for tomorrow morning on a very enjoyable book I read called Now and Then by Jacqueline Sheehan. I also have a review this week sometime on John Saul’s newest one called House of Reckoning which was really good as well. I’ve been really lucking out on the books I’ve been reading lately.

So, what is everyone up to today? Anyone do anything exciting this weekend? I sure hope you all have a great week!

I agree that sounds scary about your dad, but it looks like the doctors have it under control so that's good!

Buddy looks adorable in his coat. I need to get a new one for my dog as well but haven't found one that I like that suits her personality!

Sorry to hear that your arthritis is flaring up already. You need to move down here to the sunny South. I hope things go well with your dad and Buddy.

I also agree that what your Dad has to go thru sounds scary, but I know this is done a lot- my next door neighbor works in the cardiac wing of our hospital and this is what she does… without any problems. Still is unsettling though when you have to do anything like that!

What a little cutie Buddy is! He looks great and I hope you find the right food soon! My BJ had a lot of problems with his digestion system too. And actually we had to give him this enzyme stuff so he could get good bacteria in his system to stop what was going on. We finally resolved most of the issues, but have special "low fat" food & treaties that he is limited to. He wasn't too happy at first with these new treaties, but now has accepted them!

Take care! Hope you are feeling better too! This cold weather can be torture!

Hopefully all will be well with your father and buddy. Cute dog..
I have degenerative joint disease and fibromyalgia and when I get a flair up, which seems like everyday, I can understand how you feel… keep a positive attitude!!!

Nothing to apologize for, Dar! I'm so sorry to hear you've been in pain. Fingers crossed that everything goes well with your dad, and also that Buddy gets well soon!

That sounds horridly scary about your dad, so I'm glad to see you add that it's apparently also quite a common procedure. (More experience with it is definitely good!)

And your poor hands! Don't apologise for not sitting behind the computer much, Dar! Your health is far more important!

Buddy looks adorable in his new coat. (Althoug the poor dear! I hope the new food will help his stomach settle!)

I am sorry to hear about your arthritis flare-up, Dar. I've had an awful time of it this weekend with back. I'm trying to avoid sitting for long as a result. It's especially bad because I had wanted to spend a good part of this weekend writing reviews and getting upcoming posts ready. The best laid plans . . .

I hope everything goes well for your father, Dar. My prayers are with him.

I'm sorry to hear Buddy is still not feeling completely well. I remember when my Parker was having stomach problems this past winter. He's on a special diet now which seems to have helped. It took a lot of vet visits and experimenting though to get him there. It's so hard to see them suffering. We want to badly to take away their pain.

I am considering getting an e-reader myself but am not sure which one. I am glad you are enjoying the Sony E-Reader!

I hope you have a good week, Dar. Hang in there!

I hope you enjoy Raising Rain.

I know you're worried about your dad and Buddy and you're hands are hurting, but I have to say, you sound more upbeat these days. Glad to know you're hanging in there! Hope things work out well for your dad with this new procedure. I'm sure he's in good hands.
Looking forward to your review of NOW AND THEN. I've been considering reading it.

I'm sorry to hear that your rheumatoid arthritis is getting worse with the coming cold. We are about to have a heat wave this week in Queensland, Australia so I'm dreading that. Your dog is so cute! I have a creamy coloured minature poodle and he gets very fluffy as well and hates being clipped.

Well I hope you have a good week and the snow holds off for you. It doesn't snow where I live and the summer is so hot I hate it. Oh well, we can't have everything.

Such a handsome little Buddy in his new coat! And as far as your poor little joints, I would ditto Kathy…you need to come down our way, where there is warmth and humidity! I'll say a prayer for your dad. Tests and procedures make me a mess.

I hope you feel better soon Dar. My lupus flares during the warmer months so I am getting a bit of a break right now but I know how hard it is to work through the pain.

I understand your anxiety regarding the procedure for your dad. I'll be praying for him!! My dog Bruce has been going through some terrible allergy problems too. He has pulled out his hair on his back legs and on his tummy. I have him on an organic diet, giving him supplements, and using a rich lanolin spray for his bald spots. the vet gave him some pills but I've been trying to help him out the natural way too. Take care of yourself during this time and let your hands rest!! I'm looking forward to your reviews this week!!

I am sorry for what your dad is going through. It does sound frightening, though it sounds like he's receiving good treatment. My dad has heart problems, and cardiac treatment has come SUCH a long way!

I love the pictures of Buddy. That little face is just too stinking cute!

You would never know anything was wrong with Buddy, he looks great! The new coat is adorable. I don't think Martina would let me put a coat on her. Heeheehee
The weather here has been great! Real warm for Nov. yesterday is was almost 70!
Congrats on the Sony reader – have fun! I still haven't decided if I would want one or not. Continue to keep us updated as to how you are liking it.

As always Dar.. lots of prayers for your Dad and Buddy. Love buddy in his new outfit. Love your Sunday Stuff post. Take care of those hands. I am still reading a lot of blogs these days but I also have a wrist issue that limits my commenting. I definitely know what you are talking about. No worries about commenting. Your blog is as lovely as ever.

Between a sick father, Buddy's tummy issues and your arthritis that's a lot to deal with.

I've been using a Sony Reader for a while now and really love it. Keep an eye on our site on Friday's for great tips on Free e-books! ( http://withagoodbook.com/tag/friday-freebie/ )

Hope his health gets settled soon. Could you maybe use one of those thinning scissors like stylists use on people? Live the new coat!

Sorry to hear your arthritis is acting up.

Glad they were at least able to tell your dad something. All this stuff they do with hearts any more is just amazing. Still scary tho.

I am hoping that things begin to look up for you soon and I will be saying a prayer for you. And very cool that you got a new e-reader! I am asking Santa Claus for one this Christmas, so we'll see if one actually gets here! Also, Buddy looks adorable in his little coat!

Oh sweetie! Sorry to hear you RA. That sucks and I know all you can do is cope with the symptoms. You need voice activated dictation for your blog. No more typing.

I will keep your Dad in my prayers and thoughts. Even though they do these things all the time, I would still be nervous too. How could you not? I'm sure he will be fine. Buddy is sporting that new coat well. He knows he's cute 🙂
Have a good week and talk to you soon.

My thoughts and prayers are still with your dad. Please let us know the outcome.

I'm glad buddy is better! At least, if it is a food allergy, you can do something about it.

D.J. was having tummy trouble this week. He was having the runs and there was bllod present. Boy, I freaked. I took him to the vet. He stayed over night for tests and x-rays it turned out to be an intestine infection. We suspect he got into something at Bill's office. It took almost $600 to figure that out!

D.J. also got a new rain jacket. I'll have to post pictures.

Buddy is adorable as always. I want to just reach in these pictures and hug him.

I hope that your dad comes out of everything fine. I'll keep you both in my thoughts.

I'd be excited to hear about your experience with the Sony eReader and why you chose it and how you like it. I'm on the fence about ereaders and I wouldn't know which to choose…what are the differences…? Ok, if you get a chance, email me…I'd love to hear about it.
