Holiday Wishes, Sad Happenings and Winners of Giveaways

December 28, 2009 by Darlene

Morning everyone. First I want to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and will have a great New Year. Thank you to those who popped by or emailed me and wished me a Merry Christmas – thank you.

Unfortunately for my family, my aunt passed away on Christmas Day so it was a sad and very quiet day for us. She was always a big part of my life growing up and later on when she got ill she spent more time near home which is about a few hours from me but still we talked often. She will be greatly missed; she was a strong lady who never complained much and I’ve always admired her. My heart hurts knowing she is no longer with us but at the same time I’m glad she’s at peace now and no longer suffering. I loved her very much.

I’ve gotten a few books read and hope to get some reviews out soon on Olive Kitteridge and Bel Canto. I’m hopelessly behind on Moby Dick but will hopefully get back into it after things settle down. I’ve got a bunch of stuff to get caught up on my blog, not to mention getting out to visit a few of you and I’m not sure when I’ll get to all that.

I’m also going to do announce some winners here of a few giveaways instead of doing an whole bunch of posts…

  • The winners of Dragon House are: Jill at Rhapsody in Books and A Real Librarian.
  • The winners of The House on Legare Street are: Zibilee from Raging Bibliomania and Jo-Jo from Jo-Jo Loves to Read.
  • The winners of Dear John (book) are: Kaye at Pudgy Penguin Perusals, Fredmans, JoanneR, CherylS22, and AmandaSue.

I will be emailing everyone shortly on their wins and for their snail mail addresses. Congrats to you all.

I know exactly what you mean by missing her, but also glad she is without pain now. I guess like they say, it just takes time. Memories can be hard right now, but they will help later.
