Sunday Ramblings & Pic of Buddy

December 13, 2009 by Darlene

Morning everyone, not much going on here other than we’re in the deep freeze. We’ve hit our first major cold spell of the winter and it’s not letting go. I’ll say it this way – if you were to go outside without anything on your face or hands for example, you would have frostbite in under 5 minutes. It’s that cold. Here’s a pic of our snowy world…

Buddy isn’t altogether impressed because he can’t go out for his walk in this cold and he’s already more than ticked off with having to have booties put on each time he goes outside. Yet he still seems to like the snow and cold so at least I don’t have to fight with him to go out. He’s been doing pretty good. We’ve given him some dry cereal this past week and so far so good so if he makes it another week without an upset tummy from it I’m going to move on to his treats minus the cheese and see how he does. Here’s a little picture of him this morning when I was talking to him and he was listening very intently…

So today is another day inside. Going to curl up and watch the final curling game this afternoon and probably read. I have two reviews for sure going up this week, maybe more. Tomorrow I will have a review of Wild Blue Under by Judi Fennell and then later in the week Prime Time by Hank Phillippi Ryan – both were fast and good reads. Right now I’m reading a few books so I can’t list them all as there is too many but the main one I’m currently hooked on is Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. A few others are Nanny Returns by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, Bel Canto and Olive Kitteridge. I’m also working on Moby Dick which believe it or not I’m enjoying. I’m going to do a post up later for that. Oh I forgot I’ve got a review for A Paper Bag Christmas for this week as well which I loved. I’ve been getting a lot of reading done with this frigid weather and not feeling the best so that’s a plus. I do need to get the Christmas lights put up on the tree today though and get it decorated. That’s next on the list.

Anyhow that’s it for this week. I hope wherever you are it’s a whole lot warmer and you’re enjoying your Sunday. Have a great week everyone!

And I thought it was cold here. I feel bad for whining about our cold weather now. Buddy is such a cutie.

Its cold here too, and snow in most places, just not here in Hamilton. I get cold just looking at your pic! LOL

Our snow has turned to a very cold rain at the moment…even walking is treacherous! Glad Buddy's had a good week. You have some great books – Olive Kitteridge is one of my favorites this year. Enjoy the day!

I am so not a cold person! I've been complaining nonstop lately about our 30-40 degree temperatures, which, compared to many (like you), is probably a heat wave this time of year. Well, maybe not quite. 😉

It's been raining practically nonstop most of the weekend. And while I love it, my Riley doesn't. The sun seems to be making an appearance now so perhaps he'll want to go out and explore the wet yard before too long.

I am so glad Buddy has been doing well. I hope he continues to show improvement. One of the cats has not been feeling well lately. It doesn't seem too serious, but something I'm keeping an eye on.

Shanghai Girls and Bel Canto are both books I would like to read at some point. I look forward to reading your thoughts on them when you are done.

Have a great week, Dar. Thanks again for the copy of The Day the Falls Stood Still. I can't wait to read it!

Cold and snowy here too, Dar. Finally got my pup out for a walk this morning as the roads are pretty cleared of salt, etc. She won't wear the boots so we just don't do walks when the road is slippery. My neighborhood doesn't have sidewalks, sigh.
I liked Shanghai Girls! I'll look forward to your upcoming reviews. Have a relaxing, warm day : )

It looks beautiful outside your house but does make me shiver even to look at the picture! I'm very impressed that Buddy goes out. When I had little dogs in Wisconsin, they would take one look at at day like that and go right in the doorstep!

Buddy is soooooo CUTE!!!! My four greyhounds feel bad for Buddy too. They hate when they can't go for a walk, but they all got new Christmas coats this week.
Have you ever heard or Mushers Secret for Buddies paws?

So living where I do and having pipe issue because of our cold snap, it leaves me wondering how do people living in generally freezing/snowing areas deal with piping issues? Is everything underground?

As always, love the Buddy fix! He has got the sweetest little face, and is a nice pick-me-up on a Sunday afternoon! I sympathize with you on the cold, but our temp was almost 90 degrees today. When I was at my son's football game, I was sweating. I'm not trying to rub it in, I am complaining. There are so many things WRONG with having this heat in mid-December. Christmas – bah!

Buddy is just so cute. I'm glad he doesn't mind going out in the cold and snow. One of my labs loves the snow … the other one not so much. She prefers the couch!

It was slipping and sliding walking to church today.

We had the nasty cold a few days ago, but Coop won't wear booties and end up just doing to cold-foot dance. Now it's warm enough to be slushy and wet.

Buddy is so adorable. He's got the furball look going right now.

I think you get the weather first and then it heads here! Can't wait! I saw the weather report and it said wicked cold for the end of the week.

Several of your books I've read and they were good! Olive Kitteridge, Bel Canto, Shanghai Girls. Enjoy!

*sigh* I wish there's snow here! The weather's been unpredictable at times here…sometimes it's sunny and then it rains the next.

Buddy looks adorable, as always! 🙂

we went shopping in shorts and the temp was about 75. No snow for us.

Buddy looks so intent. You must have been telling him something very interesting. Don't you wish you could see what pets are thinking?

I love the way dogs cock their heads to the side when you're talking to them! It looks like Buddy pays better attention when you're talking than my husband does when I'm talking!

    Buddy is just so adorable!
Glad he is feeling better! My girls like to eat cereal, right now they like the crispy oat circles. Does he consider those treats?
Hope you are feeling better, and your dad too.
We had about 14 inches of snow in one snowfall last week. Took forever to dig out.
Hope you have sunshine at least!

I know this post is from last week, but we're in the deep freeze today. I don't mind. I'm bundled in a blanket at the computer and trying to catch up a little. Buddy is as adorable as ever. Don't lose him a snow drift!
