Sunday Ramblings, Buddy & The Garden

July 18, 2010 by Darlene

Morning everyone. Wow, another week gone by. I don’t know where the time goes but it sure does fly by quickly. I’m still in a bit of a reading slump. I only finished one book last week and I’m hoping that I’ll feel more like reading this week. It’s horrible when you just don’t feel like picking up a book – at least it is for me.

Let’s see, this week I’m reading Cold Rock River by Jackie Lee Miles. I started it the other day and I’m enjoying it. Has anyone read it? I’m about 100 pages in and hooked on the story. I am anxious to see what comes next so maybe this will be the start of getting back to reading. I’ll have my review up sometime this week but I’d love to be able to finish another book this week if I can. I certainly have no shortage of books that I’ve started in my effort to be swept away by a good story.

On the home front Buddy isn’t feeling too well again. He hasn’t wanted to eat much if anything. Yesterday I finally managed to get him to eat by making fresh chicken for him twice. I’m going to look like a chicken soon. Anyhow, I have an appointment to take him into the vet on Tuesday so we’ll have to see what he says. I’d like to have another blood test done on him to see if his levels have changed at all too. So, if you can say a little prayer again for my little guy I’d appreciate it. I’m always so scared when he doesn’t feel well like this that he’s going downhill.

I did mention last week that we had rain. Well it continued during the week – it rained buckets. It’s pretty wet and the rain hasn’t done much good for the flowers. It’s battered them but good – those delicate petals can’t take that much rain. On the other hand the garden has loved the rain! It seemed to grow overnight with all that moisture. I was hoping to get some pictures of the flowers when they recovered but apparently the rain is going to start again this afternoon so I’m not sure they’ll ever be a nice as they could be.

Here’s some pictures I took yesterday to share with you… I left one of the flower pictures up top… You can see how hard the rain has been on them – before they were full and beautiful; I hope they get that way again before the end of summer…

Then there’s the garden which is just going crazy this year. We’ve got potatoes, peas, beans, carrots, beets, swiss chard, onion and zucchini. I can’t wait for those peas to be ready!

And of course what would Sunday be like without a few pictures of Buddy. So I’ll leave you this Sunday with a few pictures of him sitting out on the back step like the King he is and then the last one is of him last night laying in front of his treat cupboard all stretched out just hoping someone was going to walk down that hallway and notice him. lol.

So, what is everyone up to today? Just relaxing or doing something with the family? How was your weekend? Any plans for the week or just the usual? Stop by and say hi! I hope you all have a great week ahead

Your garden looks great! I'll bet you can hardly wait to be able to start feasting off of it.

Sorry to hear that Buddy's had another bad week. Will definitely say a prayer for both of you!

Oh your vegetable garden is so lush and productive. Mine is doing well but would do better in full sun. I am harvesting Chinese sugar peas, the first cherry tomatoes and strawberries 🙂
Today after church our oldest son will come over and plant my newest garden addition, a Meyer lemon tree. Yay.

I am glad you are enjoying the Miles book, it was good, and the story, well it sure had me guessing.

That is one lovely garden :=)

My coming week, going to visit a friend, just a short 2 day trip.

Your flowers and veggies look great. We had a thunderstorm last night but need more rain here.

Hope Buddy's visit has a positive outcome Dar 🙁

Poor little Buddy. Maybe he needs some filet mignon! You are not alone on the reading front. I'm slowly getting behind. I like to have at least a few weeks of posts done, but because I'm on vacation, I'm just not getting anything done. I can't read fast enough!!

Well, you definitely have more of a green thumb than I do! The plants and veggies look fabulous.

We're getting rain and probably storms later. I'm sending positive thoughts your way for Buddy. 🙂

Even though you say those flowers are battered I can't agree. 🙂 They look gorgeous. The heat is becoming too much for ours and I'm tempted to just rip them all out–we're consistently in the 100 degree range (Google says that's 37.7 in Celsius) and without rain everything has just shriveled up. We are only allowed to water twice a week with sprinklers and hand watering doesn't do much good.

I'm sorry Buddy isn't feeling well again. I hope the bloodwork doesn't show any decline. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts. He does look precious in those pictures–you wouldn't be able to tell anything is wrong!

I'm so sorry to see Buddy hasn't been feeling well. Poor little guy – Milou will lay in front of the pantry too, hoping someone will give her a treat.

Wow Dar! Your garden looks great!!! The weather has been wonderful for the veggies! I decided to give vegetable gardening a try with a lone grape tomato plant in a container on my porch and it's like a tree now! with a steady flow of grape tomatoes!

Hope Buddy does well at the vets! I'll be saying a prayer for the cutie!

Enjoyed Cold Rock River. I read it last year sometime. I had Roseflower Creek on my list but never got around to it.

Darlene, I am praying for Buddy. Our Maggie is thirteen now and she can no longer go up and down stairs. We love her so much, and it's so difficult to watch her struggle. I truly hope Buddy rallies after a trip to the vet! All my best to you and Buddy!

I love your garden! Wish mine looked that good! We've had so much rain that the weeds take over. How come weeds can grow in any weather and plants we want won't???

Buddy will be in our prayers for good reports on Tuesday. So sorry to hear he is off his food right now.

His pics are as adorable as ever!

Beautiful flowers and what a lush garden and you lucky lady that the rain made it so because watering it with the hose just does not do the same kind of magic!

Poor little Buddy, hope your outcome from the vet visit comes out with positive feedback Dar. Glad he did finally succumb to hunger though because that is a good sign. Prayers and hugs on the way through Cyber land and you guys hang in there!
