A week sure can fly by quickly these days. Before you know it another week has gone by. It’s hard to believe but we are getting awfully close to November and winter is definitely in the air here. It’s getting pretty cold already. Poor little Buddy doesn’t seem to be taking to the cold too well this year. He’s lost all his body fat and gets cold really quickly. I put his coat on but still he gets cold. I’m going to have to see if I can pick up a sweater for him to keep him warm even in the house. For now I just throw his blanket on him.
Not too much happening here. I started giving Buddy IV fluids at home myself. It’s not too bad. It’s called SubQ fluids and I just put in the IV needle under his skin and give him his fluids and meds through the IV. Thank God I’m not squeamish about giving needles or I would have had a problem. That kind of stuff has never really bothered me although I hate getting a blood test myself and have to lay down. He’s much calmer getting them at home anyway – he lays down till they’re done. This week he had one good day where he ate pretty good and now he’s gone back to bad days – he hasn’t eaten well in a couple of days again. I’m hoping today will be better for him.
On the reading front I have a few reviews coming up this week – two anyway unless I can get another book finished. Buddy has been restless at night so I think I’m going to start getting up and reading instead of trying to go back to sleep all the time and getting a headache. Anyhow right now I’m reading a few books or I should say I’ve started a few- Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani in preparation for reading Brava Valentine for a tour. I’m also reading Faefever by Karen Marie Moning and I’m going to start The Forever Queen by Helen Hollick this week. I miss the days when Buddy kept me so occupied that I didn’t have time to read. It used to drive me crazy but now I’d give anything to have those days back. We always take those kinds of things for granted thinking they’ll always be there but the thing is they aren’t. I wish I had taken better advantage of those days and walked him more or played with him more.
So, that’s my week. I’m praying for Buddy to have a good week and those of you who have been praying with me I hope you’ll pray for this too. To all of you who have commented on Buddy and been keeping him and me in your thoughts and prayers – I thank you. It means more to me than I can convey in words. I wish my posts could be more upbeat and happy but for now this is the best I can do folks.
I don’t have a new picture of Buddy to share – he’s not too fond of having his picture taken anymore and to be honest I want you all to remember him happy. When he’s having a good day I’ll make sure to remember to get a picture – that wouldn’t be too bad. Anyhow here is one I took ages ago on my cell phone that’s one of my favorites. I keep it as my cell phone picture and I’ve always loved seeing his big tongue and brown eyes dominating the picture when I turn on my phone.
I hope you all have a good week and get lots of reading done!

It is getting pretty chilly here in NY too. It has been very rainy here, and a lot of the leaves have changes.
Buddy sure is lucky to have such a wonderful mommy taking care of him! He wouldn't have made it this far without you.
You are always in my prayers!
Take care and give the budster a hug for me!
Hope you both have a good week and that Buddy is not in any pain.
We are getting cold fronts in Florida…only low 80's in the day! Woo hoo! I would do anything to see an orange leaf though. I miss the Midwest the most this time of year. I think they need to make dog Snuggies…that would be perfect for Buddy. I am keeping the two of you in my thoughts, and hope that he stays comfortable. You are such a good mommy!
Time does fly. Its been cold here also.
You are sooo good to Buddy! He's very lucky to have you.
I pray he has a good week too.

I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy, but I bet he is much more comfortable getting his IVs at home – the vet's office isn't a fun place for animals. I know what you mean – we all need to stop and reflect on what we have right now and appreciate it more. I'm sending hugs and prayers your way.
It was 39* in Iowa this morning, should be 65* for a high today. About normal, but we've been blessed with above normal and sun for a week or so and it's hard to see it go.
It's always much nicer to be in your home when you feel bad, I think. I'm sure Buddy is enjoying just being at home with you.
I hope you both have a beautiful week.
Darcy and Sophie send Buddy hugs.
You and Buddy will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
I'll be heading to the US end of December so I reckon it must be winter by then! I need to do some research on the type of clothing to bring/wear.
As you and Buddy take this rock path, remember that with our thoughts and prayers we walk by your sides. Big hugs and lots more prayers coming your way.
Dar, I'm keeping you and Buddy in my thoughts and sending you both hugs. Hope it's a good week for you both.
You and Buddy are in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm so glad you're able to take care of him at home! Hope the week ahead is a good one for both of you!
The nip in the air use to be welcome, but maybe because I'm getting older I wish it was still 70! 🙂
This is so sad, and heartbreaking. But yes it's good to remember Buddy as he used to be
On a weather note, some snow, sleet, hail this week. it's getting colder
I'm sorry to hear about Buddy's continued bad health. I'm thinking about you!
I've been out of the loop for awhile; I'm so sorry to hear that Buddy is having so much trouble. How lucky he is to have you; even when you didn't spend as much time with him as you think you should have, I'm sure he has always felt very loved.
I'm sending good vibes your way so that Buddy will have a good week.
The air is cooler here, but we have had quite a few days with glorious sunshine.
Dar, hugs to you and Buddy!! I hope Buddy has a great week too!
Dar, I am glad to hear that Buddy had a couple of good days this week, and I will be praying that there are more of them this week. If you need anything, please let me know. You are always in my thoughts.
Your words really are poignant and hit home with me. Tomorrow when I get home from work I will make sure that I make time for Bruce and go for a walk with him.
Always praying for you and Buddy my friend!
It's been hot over here lately! How nice it'd be to have winter season over here… but of course that's wishful thinking.
Sending hugs and positive vibes your way, Dar!
Sorry it's been another tough week 🙁 Hope the sunQ fluids are keeping Buddy comfortable. More prayers coming your way…
Not too chilly here in NS yet, nippy in the mornings but it usually warms up to a comfortable 15dc by noon.
I've been fairly busy with various projects since August; pretty much MIA on the book blogs. I'm so sorry to hear that Buddy isn't doing well and know how hard this must be for you, Dar.
{HUGS} to you and Buddy.
I have a friend who's going to be in Saskatchewan next week and I can't say I envy being in the cold. We're still in the 80s during the day and I'm not ready for it to cool down too much yet!
Even though it's tough, I'm glad that you're able to treat Buddy at home and given him a bit of comfort. Hope all continues to go well!
Awh.. love that cute face.
Your challenges are so great with Buddy. I know what you mean by wishing you could go back and do more. Hindsight and regrets. Try not to be hard on yourself. You are the best doggie owner.
Not chilly here yet, (what's new).. but a hint of fall is in the air.
Have a great week. I hope Buddy is having a good week too. You know..day by day.
xo
I'm thinking of you and Buddy and wishing you the best. I know how hard it is to take care of a pet, companion, friend – who is failing. It's so hard but it means so much. You have been wonderful to Buddy and he knows it. Remember to take time to take care of yourself. You need TLC too. 🙂
