Favorite Reads of 2010

December 31, 2010 by Darlene

Well it’s that time of year to make up our lists of our favorite books of the year. It’s hard to go through all that you’ve read and pick and choose. At least it is for me because I truly don’t remember reading any bad books this year. Anyhow, that being said, I cannot just pick a t0p 10 so I’m having a Top 20 and here they are in no particular order…

Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See
Our Hart by Lloyd Lofthouse
The Wives of Henry Oades by Johanna Moran
Shadow of the King by Helen Hollick
The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
The Stolen Crown by Susan Higginbotham
Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn
Claude & Camille by Stephanie Cowell
On Folly Beach by Karen White
The Last River Child by Lori Ann Bloomfield
The One That I Want by Allison Winn Scotch
Souvenir by Therese Fowler
Sea Escape by Lynne Griffin
Cold Rock River by Jackie Lee Miles
The Miracles of Prato by Laurie Albanese and Laura Morowitz
Under This Unbroken Sky by Shandi Mitchell
The Wishing Trees by John Shors

I loved all of these books for one reason or another. Some were just plain good reads that kept me turning the pages in a hurry and others were books that really touched my heart in some way.

Many of these books come from favorite authors like Helen Hollick, Karen White, John Shors, Susan Higginbotham and Sarah Addison Allen but this list contains some new authors for me that are now favorites as well; most notably Beth Hoffman, Lori Ann Bloomfield, Therese Fowler and Shandi Mitchell. That’s not to say I won’t be reading more from all of the authors new to me but these are the new ones that really had an impact on me with their books.

I’d love to say thanks to all the authors who work so hard on getting their books out there for us to enjoy. As a book lover, I appreciate it more than words can say! I hope 2011 will be another really awesome year of reading and great books!

Wonderful list, Dar. I've read a few of those titles and really liked them (CeeCee is on my list this year). What makes me really happy is that at least four titles are on my shelf right now and waiting to be read in 2011!
