Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was very quiet – my parents went to my cousins place for dinner but I stayed home with the Sammy Bear. I wasn’t about to leave him alone yet. Plus, to be truthful, I wasn’t yet in a celebrating mood. Losing Buddy really took it out of me this year and I just wanted quiet and that’s what I got and I was happy with it. I played with Sammy, got him a few toys, and for my trouble got bit in the nose. He got me good too with his sharp little tooth inside my poor little nose and all I was trying for was a kiss. lol.
I finished a good book last week called Beach Roses by Jean Stone and I’ll have a review up later this week. Yesterday I read some of The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly and finished up Dating Mr. December by Phillipa Ashley of which I’ll have a review this week too. Today I think I’ll probably read a bit more of The Winter Rose and start something new. I have several books in my currently reading folder on my Kindle.
So, that’s about it. Sammy Bear is still a bundle of energy. He just doesn’t quit when he’s awake. He goes from one thing to the next – the cutest is the way he sits still for a minute and looks all around himself at just what he can get into next. His newest is chewing the plastic on his pee pads and running away. That may not be so bad if it was actually possible to catch him and get the plastic out of his mouth. Obviously his biting hasn’t gotten a lot better if my nose is any indication. This one is bound and determined to keep on biting people.
I’m going to venture into unknown territory soon and give him a haircut – just take a bit off. It’s too cold here for a real haircut. I may have to muzzle him to do it though. lol. Oh and he’s gotten better outside only because we found these soft treats that he loves! I cut them up into a few pieces and now he knows – he finishes his business, runs up the steps, into the door and promptly sits down and looks up for his treat. It’s really cute.
Well that’s it for this week folks! I hope you’re still enjoying your holiday time and relaxing reading a book or something. That’s what I fully intend to do! Here’s some pictures to hopefully brighten up your day…
This last picture is of one of those bed pillows we have that we folded in half and stitched. Sammy folded himself right up into it – that’s his tail to the left of him. lol. Till next week everyone…Have a great week!

I completely understand not being in the mood to celebrate yet *hugs* I hope you had a nice quiet time with Sammy. He looks adorable as always, and your tree is beautiful, even with the puppy protection 😛
Lol, good idea about the tree. Our cats were always crazy when it came to xmas trees
This puppy is adorable!
Ouch! I bet you can't wait until he stops with the biting/chewing phase! I love the pictures you share of Sammy…he is just so cute. Hope you had a good holiday and have a wonderful new year!
Merry Christmas Dar! I'm glad you had a nice quiet one. Good idea about the tree, its lovely by the way. And your Sammy is quite the character!! Im sure he'll stop biting soon.

Christmas can be tough when a loss is so new/close; I'm glad you had the type of day you needed.
Sammy is adorable … (and sounds like a fun rascal!)
Oh my, Sammy is sure a busy boy! My brother has a young pup. At Thanksgiving they brought him with them but decided that there was no way at Christmas. He doesn't bite but just gets into everything. After the New Year, it's obedience school for him! It's a good thing puppies are cute, isn't it?!
Good luck with the hair cut! Glad your day was just what you needed. Happy New Year Dar!
Sammy is so cute! Enjoy him!
I just sent you an e mail and then decided to see what you were up to blogwise as I've been MIA all week. Laughed when I saw you were reading the Winter Rose by Donnelly when I am reading The Tea Rose. Now I'll have to look out for The Winter Rose. I didn't realize there were more. Hope you are enjoying it a lot. Have a good week and a happy new year,Dar.
I Love your dog, he is adorable! Long live books!

Merry Christmas, Dar! 🙂 Sammy is just too cute!
Merry Christmas, Dar!
As always, Sammy is adorable!! 🙂
Sammy seems so sweet and funny! I'm so glad he seems so talented at making you smile again!
He's something else..and how can you be mad with a face like that??? Have you ever watched The Dog Whisperer?? We started watching Cesar after we got Lily and let me tell you…it's even changed Bruce. He's wonderful and our dogs are really benefiting from his training tips!!
Sammy is a handful but lovable! I perfectly understand you not wanting to celebrate yet. I hope 2011 is a great year for you Dar! So sorry Sammy bit your nose-ouch!!
Darlene, Sammy is so precious! I'm glad you had a quiet but happy Christmas. All my love and good wishes in the new year, honey. xoxoxo Rebecca
Glad you were able to have the quiet Christmas you needed. Happy New Year to you and Sammy, too!
It sounds like you had a nice Christmas, Darlene. I had a quiet one too–just my husband and I and the animals. The cats and dog were spoiled, as usual. 🙂
Looks like Sammy has settled in well. He's adorable.
I'm so sorry to hear about Buddy! Sammy looks a lot like him. I didn't notice a difference at first until I scrolled back up and read the post. Sorry! I always like looking at cute puppies that I tend to jump straight to them! :p I hate losing beloved pets, but, like us, they have a time, too. I know Sammy can't fill the place that Buddy has inside of you, but I sure hope he brings you a lot of happiness and good memories.
I see Sammy is up to his usual antics this week and I am sorry to hear that he got you on the nose!! It will take some time, but eventually, the biting and chewing will stop, and then he will be more cuddle-some and lovable. It sounds like you had a very peaceful holiday season, Dar, and for that I am glad. I hope you have a great week and look forward to hearing about what you are reading!!
So happy to hear you've had a nice Christmas, Darlene!
Sammy looks just adorable looking at the tree 🙂
All three of my kitties were inside, asleep, and have been suspiciously uninterested in my decorating the Christmas tree… I could almost hear them thinking "We won't be a bother, you just finish there with the ornaments too and we'll wreck your efforts in a second after you're done. No hurry."
They still don't care about the tree and it's been a couple of days… for some reason, I still feel like it's the calm before the storm tough 😉
PS: for a night photo of the tree try to take the flash off, place the camera on a chair or something and set it on timer so you won't move it when pushing the button 🙂
That usually works well for me.
I'm so glad to hear that you had the kind of Christmas you wanted. Sammy sure keeps you on your toes, it sounds like obedience school is around the corner, lol:) He's a cutie! The Tea Rose and The Winter Rose are two of my favorite books, I can't wait until she writes the third book but I believe it will be awhile. Enjoy!
Milou was a chewer too, but she did outgrow it. Sammie is adorable as always!
Sammy is absolutely adorable! I love your photos of him!
I hope your nose isn't too sore! I get scratches from overly enthusiastic kitties!
I understand that you aren't up to a big holiday celebration yet and wanted a quiet day with Sammy. Similar feelings here too. Hang in there, Dar. Many pets for Sammy.
~ Amy
Merry Christmas! The photos are just adorable.
I don't blame you for wanting to stay with Sammy. He's too little to be left yet and too full of energy to trust! LOL.
I was just thinking that he's got such long hair so it's funny that you mentioned the trim. Hope he takes it well 🙂
sounds like you are having fun with the new pup….I've been away from the blogs for a while…is it a boy or girl. Whatever gender, its a cutie pie. I hope that you have fun training Sammy not to bite.
He is adorable Dar. You really have to declare your dominance with him. He has to know that is biting isn't allowed under any circumstances. I'm glad you found treats that he loves.
that is a big bed for a little boy.
it's funny, but neither bandit or our Sammy pay any attention to my tree or my brother's tree.
Sammy oh Sammy, you're one super adorable goggie! Love the pics, Dar!
