I read Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel years ago and loved. I went out and bought all the books and then never did read any more of them. Well this is the year and I’ll be starting at the beginning since it’s been so long. As I read the books I’ll add the links to my reviews. As always, if anyone wants to join in, just let me know. The more the merrier! This challenge will run from January 1 – December 31, 2011.
- Clan of the Cave Bear
- The Valley of the Horses
- The Mammoth Hunters
- The Plains of Passage
- The Shelters of Stone
- The Land of Painted Caves
Wish me luck!

Good luck, Dar 🙂
I remember loving Clan of the Cave Bear. I think I read up through The Mammoth Hunters way back when. Good luck!

I read the first 4 of these. I really liked them! I should go back sometime and re-read them and finish the series. I read them when they first came out, a looooong time ago.
I remember reading several of these years ago. I know I liked them, but don't recall any of the details.
I have heard of these but never read them either.
My MIL loved this series but I've never read it. I will do it vicariously through you!!
This is a new to me series. hmmm…I'll look these up. Good luck darlene 🙂
I have not heard of this series, Dar! Good Luck 🙂
it took me from 26th dec 2009 to 21st feb 2010 to read the first 5 again having read them when I was younger. I really enjoyed reading Aylas story again and am looking forward to book 6! Good luck with your challenge! :0)
Cannot wait for the final book in this series to come out!
I posted this for you at A Novel Challenge.
I have read the entire series except The Land of Painted Caves which, I plan to read this year as well. So far, the first and second one are my favorites but the whole series is worthwhile.
I loved all the books in the series, and have read some of them twice. My favorite was the Valley of Horses. If Jean Auel ever decides to revisit the series and go back and tell us what happened to Durc I’m sure it too would be a best seller. Even just one book – please! Just kidding but these books were my all time favorites.
I have been a die hard fan – when The Shelters of Stone came out, I went back and reread the the first four books before reading it. This time I listened to the first five books on CD prior to listening to the newest and last – The Land of Painted Caves. I just finished it and I am so disappointed. There was so much more that could have been written besides so much repetition. I actually had to make myself keep listening. Ms. Auel needs one more book (without soooo much backtracking) that ties up ALL the loose ends.
