Sunday Ramblings & Pictures of Sammy

January 2, 2011 by Darlene

Good morning everyone! How did everyone fare over New Years? Any major hangovers? Not for me. I’m not much of a drinker – I like a few glasses of wine or Baileys but that’s about it. I had a very quiet New Years – I was sleeping. lol. My best friend of over 20 years came by for supper and Sammy was very obnoxious all day long. He wouldn’t settle down and wouldn’t sleep so consequently his mommy spent most of her day chasing him around and not really getting to visit much. When she left I was exhausted so Sam and I went and laid down and that’s about all I remember. lol.

Sammy is still quite the handful. So much for getting a nice calm dog this time. I’m sure Buddy’s spirit is lurking in this little guy. Not to mention he is getting big! I weighed him yesterday and he’s almost 13 lbs now – he’s furry and heavy. The breed is supposed to be 7-13 lbs but obviously Sammy is going to be much bigger. The vet figures around 20 lbs, maybe a bit more. The nice thing is he’s quite rugged – you don’t have to worry about being too gentle with him. He is still bad with his biting but at least this week all my body parts are in one piece.

I wouldn’t give him up for anything though. I love him dearly already and I can only imagine how much more it will be over the next years. He loves to cuddle in bed and I really like that. It’s so sweet when he puts his head up on the pillow with me and takes a nibble from my ear. I know I’ll miss the puppy stage when he grows up even though it’s driving me crazy so I try not to wish him to get older for any reason.

On the reading front I’m not doing the best. I really need to buckle down this week and get some books read. I thought I’d get so much read over Christmas and really read pretty much nothing. What I’m working on now is Beneath the Thirteen Moons by Kathryne Kennedy, Tropic of Night by Michael Gruber and The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly. If I really buckled down I know I could finish them this week. Later this week I’ll have my self-imposed challenges posted. I’ve got 5 challenges that I’m going to try hard to finish so we’ll see.

I don’t have too many pictures of Sammy this week. I forgot to take any so there’s only a few. I do have a couple of Sammy and I together. Not the best pictures but they’ll have to do for now. I seriously need a visit to my hairdresser but we all know how crazy things have been for me these past few months. I’ll get there soon I hope.

Hmmmm, what’s in here I wonder? I love those little pom-poms!
Hey, I’ve almost got one of those things out of here! What fun!
Sammy and mommy! Mommy, this isn’t a very good picture – you’re showing off all my private parts you know. lol. But geez, I am one cute puppy!
Awwww, mommy loves Sammy!

That’s it for this week. I can’t believe it’s already 2011 – time sure does fly by. So how about the rest of you? What have you got planned for the week? What are you all reading this week? I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Cute pics (and I love the captions!). I'm planning a visit to my hair stylist too. I really need a haircut.
    Happy New Year 🙂

The reading will come…you have a lot on your plate right now trying to keep up with an energetic puppy! He is so precious, I just love the pictures you share!

Your pictures are sweet. For me January is the BEST reading month because we get so much snow and ice. Plus there's nothing better than being wrapped in a blanket with a book in the dead of winter. So good luck with your reading!

That's so funny about the private parts! I often wonder how doggies feel about things like having to go to the bathroom in front of everyone, etc! Very cute pictures! My visits to the "hairdresser" these days usually consist of bending over a trashcan in my bathroom with the scissors… The results aren't very pretty, admittedly, but it takes a lot less time and money!

Aren't pets wonderful reading buddies? My Cavalier King Charles spaniel curls up next to me whenever I read and he gets the best naps!

I hope you enjoy The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly – I just recently completed it and it was wonderful!
    Happy New Year!

Aww, such cute pictures! We're getting my daughter ready for her semester in London (she leaves Wed.), then I need to put away the Christmas decorations and get organized.

No hangover for me but I do wish I'd decided not to try and stay up until midnight. I ended up going to bed five minutes before and then hubby came into the room to ask me why I didn't wait just a few more minutes. LOL I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer! I did make it though, but then promptly fell asleep.

Hopefully Sammy will outgrow some of his energy the older he gets–but let me tell you, my dog Riley is about 11 years old and still as wired as can be most of the time. We love him though. 🙂

I hope you have a great week, Darlene. It's back to the grind tomorrow.

Good Morning Dar and Sammy! Love the picture of the 2 of you! This week I'm working, knitting and making jewelry. I'm reading Juliet by Anne Fortier for my bookclub meeting this month.

Darlene-Happy Happy New Year-being a good mama is the best resolution to have. You have your hands full with Sammy-he will keep you fit as you chase him everywhere-your New Year sounds like ours-we went up to LA-had a late lunch-a little window shopping and home by 8 or so-I can proudly say I was asleep on the couch by 9.

Hey Dar! Happy New Year!!!! We had a low key New Years Eve and stayed home – we aren't partiers either 😉 So glad that Sammy is doing well, if not a little rambunctious! He is so cute and I love the pictures of you two.

Ahhh…The Winter Rose…I loved, loved, loved that book! I recently read her YA book Revolution and it was fabulous as well…can't wait for The Wild Rose this year!

Anyway, just wanted to drop by and wish you a great New Year! I hope 2011 brings you love, laughter, friendship, happiness and of course, lots and lots of yummy books!

As usual, it sounds like Sammy is keeping you very busy! It's almost like having a two year old, I think! I am glad to hear that you had a safe and relaxing New Year, and here's hoping that you get all those lingering books read this week! I can't wait to hear what you think of THe Winter Rose!!

I hope you have a wonderful beginning to the new year, Dar! You and Sammy are the cutest. Sammy and my daughter Ava (4) seem to share the same energy level in front of guests 🙂

    xo Happy Reading!

He is so completely adorable!!! Don't stress over the reading..it will all come! I need to take some pictures of Lily. She's huge and it's hard to remember her being only 32 pounds now that she's 60!!! Bruce can stand up underneath her!! lOL!!

Too funny how "outgoing" Sammy is! I'm sure it's tiring but also so much fun to see so much spirit.

I stayed up until 1:00 am this year–can't believe I made it past midnight. I didn't drink (other than a tiny bit of champagne) but felt like I'd been hit by a truck the next day. 😉

Hope you settle into some reading soon–though sometimes it's nice to have a bit of a mind break.

Hi Dar. Awwww….very nice photos of you and Sammy 🙂
It sounds like you had a nice New Years!
My sister came over with her kids and her dog on New Years Eve.
Is The Winter Rose a sequel? I have it in my TBR also.

Sammy is just airing himself out 🙂 My hair is short and must be cut every 6 weeks. Well I haven't been to the salon in long while so I feel your pain girl! Yours still loooks good though, mine is wacky!.

As for the reading, maybe the books you are choosing are not grabbing you at the moment. I can relate to that. Here's to hoping the next one is a page turner. Have a wonderful week seetie 🙂

You might have to keep Sammy on a leash in the house! You won't have to add an exercise plan to your New Year's resolutions.

Sounds like maybe Sammy wanted the attention instead of you talking to your friend. He is a cutey tho!
We went to supper with the neighbors and then spent some time at their house. Darcy and Sophie were sleeping when we got home.
Just finished up the audio "rooms" by James Rubart and really enjoyed it.
