Sunday Ramblings & Sammy Pics!

April 17, 2011 by Darlene

Good morning everyone! I hope you’ve all had a good weekend. Anybody do anything exciting? Well I didn’t. It’s cold here again and last week, believe it or not, we ended up getting almost a foot of snow again. I’m not kidding! It was a blizzard and I was quite sure I was in the middle of November, not April. The only one who loved it was Sam of course. He was in his glory when he went out and saw the yard covered in that white stuff again. In his world that meant play time for Sammy!

Not too much else going on. As you know this past week my blog was giving me some serious problems. It’s still not back to what it was and it won’t be because now I’m going to leave it alone. I got it to where at least people know they are on the right blog. I ended up just downloading the header onto a blogger template and I think it worked pretty well for now. There was absolutely no way I could leave it on that dark color because I really didn’t like it at all so I kept playing. Thankfully I didn’t lose the whole thing. lol. Hopefully it won’t be long before I get my new and permanent design. I can’t wait – it’s been a long time coming! Oh, I do have a question though – do you think blog columns look better one on each side or both on the right like I have right now? I’m pretty sure I like one on each side but I’m curious as to what others think.

Today I’d like to get some laundry done and hopefully a lot of reading. I’ve got three reviews coming up this week and haven’t finished any of the books yet. Not good! Oh well I’m almost finished the one for tomorrow so that’s ok. I’ll take Sam out for his walks even though I almost freeze. Summer can’t come fast enough for me this year. I hope after all this bad weather we’re going to end up with a nice summer at least. Not sure what we’re going to do about flowers and garden stuff this year because Sam feels it’s his duty to eat everything. The garden isn’t too bad as we have wire up around it but we usually put tomatoes and dill and stuff along the garage and I can’t see how that will work at this point unless we try to put a wire fence up along that too although Sam does stick his tongue through it trying to capture things. lol.

This week is pretty busy on the blog but mostly with reviews. Here’s what is going on…

Monday – Review of A Race to Splendor by Ciji Ware – I am loving this book. It’s really quite good.

Tuesday – Teaser Tuesdays

Wednesday – Review of The Uncoupling by Meg Wolitzer

Thursday – Guest Post/Giveaway with Rebecca Rasmussen, author of wonderful novel The Bird Sisters (my review)

Friday – Review of The Four Ms. Bradwells by Meg Waite Clayton

Yes, another busy week but that’s ok. I like it when I’m back up against a wall trying to get everything done. lol. NOT! What I need to do is just concentrate on getting some serious time in reading and it’ll all work out. How about you – any good reviews or such coming up on your blog this week or are you reading something particularly good that you’d like to share with me?

I did get a few pics of our Sammy this week. The day we got the dump of snow it was very sticky stuff – the kind that’s great for building snowmen. Well Sam has long fur and it just clung to him like glue. I couldn’t even get it off with warm water in the tub. lol. Oh I do have a cute Sammy story to share. During the week I thought I’d try this canned food I have for his tummy when it’s off. So I put it in his bowl and turn to the sink and all of a sudden I can hear things flying. Well he decided he was going to try to bury the bowl with the food in it. The rug I have his bowl on was flying in his efforts to cover the bowl as was the water in his bowl too! Do you think he was trying to tell me he didn’t want that food? lol. Anyhow I just had to get a picture (I’m hiding in this picture because I didn’t want to scare all of you) of him with all the snow because it was just too cute so here you go…

Boy, that was really fun outside Mommy but why are you always displaying my private parts to the world???
Morning everyone, I just got up and she’s already snapping pictures. The thing is all I want to do is go for my walk. Mommy, put that computer away and let’s go already!

I hope you all have a great week and that you’ll join me for my busy one here at Peeking Between the Pages! Have an awesome Sunday everyone!

I do not have a preference. Both sides are good. And the old is back, nice 🙂 I did like the new one, but ye perhaps a bit too dark. I hope you get another one soon

I think it's somewhat easier to read when the columns are one on each side…We got terrible wind and rain last night, and some thunder thrown in as well, which always wrecks havoc with our dog's nervous system!

I'll be interested to see what you think of The Uncoupling and The Four Ms. Bradwells; I am supposed to receive the first one from Library Thing.

Such a cute puppy!! I will definitley be coming back for the 4 Ms. Bradwells review – I keep hearing about this book and my curiosity is more than piqued! Thanks for giving us the run down for the week…great idea!

Happy Sunday Darlene! I can't believe all the cold weather you've been getting–but we're on the other end of the spectrum. Only April and already in the high 80s! Makes me fearful for what the summer months will bring.

Sammy looks so cute all snowy! What a doll.

As for the sidebars–honestly, unless it's a new blog I don't look at the sidebars at all. I like them both on one side. Cleaner is better, I think–I try to only keep a minimum of things on mine. Though you get a lot of new traffic!!

Your guy is as cute as ever. Hope you you have that nice summer weather you want. Here in the deep south it seems to be either hot or cold, hardly any in-between. Though weve had a tough spring with tornadoes and severe weather.

I'll be looking forward to your thoughts on The Uncoupling and The Four Ms. Bradwells. I own Bradwells but haven't gotten around to it.

I don't have a preference with your blog.

Ugh…we had rain/sleet yesterday with some snow flurries and I am most definitely over all of it. Rain I enjoy but snow…not so much. I'm glad to see some new pictures of Sammy…too cute!

I have A Race to Splendor sitting on my shelf and will be reading it soon. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. Hope you have a great week and that the weather changes for the better where you are at!

I can't believe you got snow again! You are definitely due a nice summer. As far as the columns go, I really don't have a preference.

The weather has been really crappy here too, rain, cold. But no snow!
For my blog I like one column on each side, but I think your looks good this way! I did not like the black, too hard to read. I'm glad you are back to kinda normal.

I think as long as things are not cluttered I don't mind where the columns are, even though I think my personal preference is a column on each side. (I'd love to do that with my blog but I'm scared to touch it.) We Central Florida bloggers had a busy couple of days with the UCF Book Festival which was a ball. Recap will be coming maybe Wednesday? Again, I'd like to extend the offer to visit us in the 90 degree Florida! That would melt the snow right off little Sammy.

Hi Dar & Sammy! xoxo I cant believe you got more snow. It's been raining non-stop here.
As for the blog columns, I don't have a preference. Blog issues can be such a pain! I'm reading The Uncoupling too. Enjoy your week 🙂

    Hi Dar!

Happy weekend to you and little Sammy. Love the new pics of him…such a cutie-pie!

My weekend was great. I'm in Charleston doing book research and will be heading home today.

I started out with a two column blog template and then a friend kindly recoded it and made it into a three column blog with one on each side of my posts… To this day i prefer it that way but each of us has our own site set up however it best fits our needs I guess…

Sammy and sticky snow, what a mess that had to have been and as for the food would love to have seen him trying to bury it!

Just love those pics of Sammy! He is just the cutest!! I was having some Blogger issues myself this week and especially today when I tried to post- I had to rewrite and retype the whole post after publishing it because there were weird paragraphs that blogger broke everything up into…

As for your columns, I kind of like the two columns on the right side. Maybe it's because it's just new and that makes it "exciting"? I'll come visit whichever way you design it though! 🙂

    Have a great week!

Either way works for me. I think it is often clutter and ease on the eyes of the text that troubles me with some blogs –yours looks good. Say hi to Buddy…cute shot.

    Happy Sunday Dar and Sammy!
It's cold here too but less windy than the past few days. Sun was even out for a bit.

Reading Oogy by Larry Levine, and listening to Coop by Michael Perry.

Sammy, you are just adorable as always!

I like the two columns on the side. I think it looks clean and it's different. But whatever works for you 🙂

I could look at photos of Sammy all day long. He is so adorable. I think if I were to see him in real life I wouldn't be able to do anything except sit and play with him!

I'm so sorry to read you're still having snow. I expect Sammy is the only one happy about that :o(

You sound good, Dar and I know your blog's been busy. Your blog also looks great. I like this set up.

    Have a good week!

Seeing Sammy every Sunday is one of the things I look forward to all week. He is so cute and spunky! That snow is crazy! We have a chance of it here tonight too. I wish spring would get itself in gear. I have no preference on the blog columns. Both ways are nice.

Sammy looks too cute for words! Snow again? You must be sick of that stuff by now. Hopefully you'll get a nice bout of spring weather real soon. Your blog looks very good, Dar, and I agree with Diane about blogs that are so cluttered that are hard on the eyes. Yours look nice and clean. Have a great week!

Well, if you just got over a foot of snow then there's no way that I'm going to complain about the snow that arrived today!!!

I love him….and that is some frozen snow all over his body!!

Hope the weather clears up soon!! As for the blog layout, I think it looks great but then most importantly that you like it. 🙂

Wow, more snow. What a bummer! Flowers are starting to bloom here but the other day when it was raining here, it was snowing in the mountains.

    Sammy is so precious.

Don't feel too bad because eastern Ontario is getting rain, freezing rain, and snow tonight and tomorrow. Thank God that I haven't started uncoverig the delicate things in the garden (plus I am too lazy right now to have done that). And why are you exposing dear Sammy's private parts? Ha-ha! Take care!

You've been fiddling with the blog design again. LOL I've been away too long. I like columns one on each side, but that's up to you…it's your blog.

Snow! Craziness. I personally will be happy when the cold weather is gone for good…though we haven't had any snow here lately.

Sammy is still cute as ever.
