Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
My pick this week is for a book called Cleopatra’s Moon by Vicky Alvear Shecter releasing August 1, 2011. It’s a Young Adult novel and it sounds fantastic! Since reading Michelle Moran’s novels on Ancient Egypt I’ve been fascinated by anything to do with Cleopatra. Here’s a description of Cleopatra’s Moon from Amazon.com:
“The Luxe” meets the ancient world in the extraordinary story of Cleopatra’s daughter.
Selene has grown up in a palace on the Nile with her parents, Cleopatra & Mark Antony–the most brilliant, powerful rulers on earth. But the jealous Roman Emperor Octavianus wants Egypt for himself, & when war finally comes, Selene faces the loss of all she’s ever loved. Forced to build a new life in Octavianus’s household in Rome, she finds herself torn between two young men and two possible destinies–until she reaches out to claim her own.
This stunning novel brings to life the personalities & passions of one of the greatest dramas in history, & offers a wonderful new heroine in Selene.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? So, what about you? Are you waiting for anything new and exciting this week? Share in the comments or leave me a link to your post. Have a great day everyone!

Never heard of this one, but I hope it turns out to be a good one.
I've always been fascinated by Cleopatra, so this sounds good to me.
Never heard of the book or the author but love Cleopatra and a story about her daughter sounds interesting, thanks for the heads up Darlene!
Hope you get a chance to read this one!
Ooh! This does sound very good, Dar, and I also really loved Moran's book as well. This one goes right on the list! Thanks for sharing it with us!
It does sound good, but dunno if I need to need a third Selene book
This does sound very good. I have the Moran book in my TBR.
I know someone who will love this one too!
I enjoy reading about Cleopatra, and so though I don't often read YA, this sounds like something I might like. I have not read Moran's Egypt books, but I did read her Madam Tussaud which I thought was fabulous.
I like Moran's novels too, so this one sounds really good! I'll have to put it on hold at my library. 🙂
I don't have anything that I'm looking forward to coming out, or not that I can think of right now. My TBR pile is so huge that my goal right now is to try to pick away at it before it gets to me too much!
Everyone,
Thanks for stopping by and visiting!
