Good morning everyone! I hope you’ve all been having a wonderful weekend! It’s been quite nice here with the weather half decent finally. If we could just get rid of the wind then it would be awesome but I’m not complaining – anything is better than all that snow we had. Things are green now and flowers are blooming and smelling lovely and that’s enough to make anyone happy. Here’s a picture of our apple tree out front. It looked so beautiful with it’s pure white blossoms and this year it was so full. It’s just too bad it doesn’t last all summer.
On the book front I’ve been pretty slow lately. I don’t know if it’s a reading slump per say but I just can’t seem to keep my attention focused for very long at a time. I finished up Island Girl by Lynda Simmons for my book review tomorrow and I really enjoyed it. I’m finishing up Elizabeth I by Margaret George for review this week as well- either Wednesday or Thursday. Other than that I’m going to have a guest post by Lynda Simmons and a guest post by Cathy Holton, author of Summer in the South this week. I’m going to be starting Summer in the South soon for a review next week and I’m anxious to read it. I just loved her novel Beach Trip. Has anyone read it – it’s really good; you can see my review here if you’d like to read it.
On to Sammy news. I finally had him neutered and he had extra dew claws on both his hind paws so those had to be removed as well. I was really nervous – actually sick over having to take him in. There’s just too many bad memories of taking Buddy in there and then what happened. Thankfully though all turned out for the best and he’s doing well. He’s had to have the bandages on his feet for two weeks though – they come off this Tuesday along with the stitches – and he’s been none too happy about that. Try keeping a dog away from chewing the bandages off his feet – well it’s no easy task I can tell you. So, I have a few pictures of Sammy’s ordeal for your viewing pleasure this weekend…
Well that’s it for me this weekend. I’m going to have another cup of coffee, take Sam for his walk and I hope relax and read. I don’t want to do any housework or anything else even remotely like work. I just want to sit and read! What are you all up to today? I hope doing something you really enjoy!

Aw, Sammy looks like he has had a rough week. But it is all for the best. Bless him. Lovely to see that spring has finally arrived for you too.
Awwwww — those cones are such an embarrassment!
I'm glad Sammy is doing better. Hope the bandages can come off for good very soon. My dog would have chewed them off as well. The tree is so pretty!
Aw, poor Sammy! Milou doesn't even like it when they temporarily wrap a bandage around her leg after they take blood, so I know that would have driven her crazy.
ooh, poor Sammy! That must be such a discomfort to him. I'll be looking forward to Cathy Holton visiting your blog. I did read Beach Trip and really liked it but Summer in the South (imho) is even better. Loved it!!
Poor Sammy! Hopefully he will be free of the vet for a long time to come now. Have a fun Sunday Dar.
The apple tree is gorgeous! I often wonder why the blooms couldn't last longer on the various trees but then if we had them all year round they wouldn't be as sweet.
Can't wait to finally see your thoughts on Elizabeth I! And hope Sammy has a speedy recovery.
Hope Sammy is feeling better soon; that hat is no fun π
Our dog has an ear infection and I have to put drops in twice a day. He ends up shaking his head immediately after, so I'm not sure how much is actually getting in, but we do the best we can, right?
Hope you enjoy your Sunday reading.
I love seeing apple trees in bloom – so beautiful! And Sammy looks so adorable, as usual, even with his collar!
Awwww…I hope Sammy is feeling better! Poor baby! I remember when Diego had to wear that cone….not fun at all!
The apple tree is so pretty. Enjoy your Sunday Dar π
Poor Sammy, those cones are so hard to wear. I am sure he will be back to his playful self in no time!
Poor Sammy! Our cat hated that thing when she had to wear it
Sammy, what a tough week you have had!! Get better real soon!
Darlene, I love that tree picture-just beautiful!
I'm happy to hear everything went well for Sammy. Poor Sammy, poor Dar! Of course he doesn't like the bandages or collar. These are the times when I wish we could communicate with our fur kids so they'd know we are only trying to help them. But as soon as th bandages are gone Sammy will forget all about them!
I hope you're doing okay, Dar. You look great in the pic with Sammy! It sounds like you're reading is coming along well, not slow at all! And you know, you've had a few other things on your mind like Sammy!
I'm looking forward to your upcoming interviews and reviews! I hope you enjoy Summer in the South!
Love the pic of the apple tree! Hope Sammy is feeling better soon!!

Sammy- you crack me up with what you'll chew off and think is a toy!!
I wish the trees, shrubs, and flowers would stay in bloom all summer too!!!
Beautiful tree, it's so nice to have summer around and not the snow anymore. Glad to hear that you're doing well and Sammy is as well after his procedures.
Sammy knows how to work the room for sure! Glad the both of you came through this ordeal and are safe and sound.
The tree in your front yard is beautiful! Yea for warm weather π
Not the dreaded cone! My dogs are sympathizing with Sammy. The cone is not fun for them! I'm glad Sammy is healing well. Surgery didn't slow him down much did it? He's a busy fellow!
Oh, poor Sammy! Glad he's feeling better. I'll bet that really was hard on you; entirely too many hard memories.
I love Sammy's cone head look. My dog never had to get a cone, but my mom's male dog did. However, my one dog has a cyst that was bleeding at the same spot that Sammy has his bandage. They really like to pull off those things, don't they? I'm so happy that Sammy came through everything so well. He is just so cute. π
The tree is beautiful! Seems like around here they bloom out and then the wind and rain is knocking the blossoms off. Another storm rolling thru tonite.
Poor Sammy and you too! It is so hard when they have to go to the doc, and I know what you mean about going in there after a painful experience.
Have you ever tried one of those cones that are tube shaped? I think Kong makes one now. It restricts the head movement and keeps them from reaching back but they can still see around.
Hope you and Sammy have a great week!
Sorry I'm so late commenting but oh poor Sammy! He looks so miserable with that cone on his head, I'm sure you will be glad when he is all better. Hope you have a wonderful week…or should I be saying that hope you are having a wonderful week?
Oh Sammy… your mommy is doing all that for you good and speedy recovery, oh you cute one! π
That apple tree is beautiful, Dar! I hope to see some close-ups of the flowers if possible. π
