Good Sunday morning everyone! It’s hard to believe but I actually got it together enough this weekend to get a post out on a Sunday. LOL. What has everyone been up to this weekend? I didn’t do too much except try to get caught up on some email and reading. Saturday was rainy and really windy in the morning so that’s a perfect time to read. Somehow though, as usual, I didn’t get much reading done. I did make a good supper yesterday though – I made a mushroom sauce with mushroom soup and added cooked chicken breast, spaghetti, onion, fresh peas and fresh beans from the garden. Wow, it tasted so good! Sadly though, the peas and beans are now finished in the garden. I wish they lasted longer!
I’m reading a few books right now. I’ve got Let’s Take the Long Way Home by Gail Caldwell, What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty (a book club read), The Raie’ Chaelia by Melissa Douthit, Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder (a book club read), and It by Stephen King for a read-a-long with Serena from Savvy Verse & Wit and Anna from Diary of an Eccentric. Yes I know that’s a lot of reading going on but remember I’m trying to catch up! Luckily after this week the blog will be slowing down some which will be nice finally.
This week on the blog I have…a review of Let’s Take the Long Way Home by Gail Caldwell on Monday; Tuesday is guest post/giveaway with Sue Margolis, author of A Catered Affair; a review of Raie’ Chaelia by Melissa Douthit takes up the Wednesday slot while a guest post/giveaway with Melissa takes up Thursday; last but not least is a review of To Die For by Sandra Byrd on Friday. So a busy week but after that a lot more breathing room.
I do have some pictures to share this week though. I took Sammy in for a haircut on Friday. His hair was really long because of the mosquitoes here but they’ve finally died down some so he got clipped. It was really getting much too hot for my little fur ball with all that hair in the heat. He’s been good though – but he’s still pretty much a terror on paws. If you can’t see him or hear him you’d better go see where he is because it’s likely he’s chewing on something. I also took a picture of my parents this past weekend while they were all gussied up for my cousin’s wedding celebration – they had already gotten married and were just having a get together. I don’t have a lot of pictures of them together and just realized that I should really get some more.

Well that’s all for this week. We’ll be back next week with more! I hope you all have had a fantastic weekend and a great Sunday. I hope you’re all getting in some good reading time!

You do have a lot of reading going on. "It" scares me too much to even contemplate reading. 🙂 I loved What Alice Forgot though. Sammy is very cute!
Your parents are totally cute and congrats on 50 years of marriage to them! Sammy looks GREAT! I love seeing his friendly face.
Recently, I started grooming my gals (and my mom's dog) to save money (and also because my 12 year-old dog had an issue. Groomers knicked one of her cysts and didn't tell us! I mean, accidents happen, but at least 'fess up, right?) It's actually been a great experience for all involved. However, I was VERY nervous to try it!
Have a good Sunday, Darlene!
I am a big fan of What Alice Forgot. Hope you are enjoying it too.
Sammy looks very smart with his new haircut. What a cutie.

I love the photos! Your parents are adorable and so's Sammy!
What great pictures Dar! Your parents picture is wonderful, 50 years is an accomplishment…congrats to them! Love the pictures of Sammy and his commentary:) He is adorable even if he is a terror, hopefully that puppy chewing stage will end soon! I'm looking forward to reading What Alice Forgot. Have a good week!!
Sammy is just so darn cute!!! He sounds like he is a handful but how can you resist? I just love these pictures! Thanks for sharing 🙂
As always another great post. Love the Sammy comments. I can only hope the big guy and I are together for 50 yrs. Glad I finally got chance to "see" your parents. Now I can put a face to things you've shared over the years.
Lovely picture of your parents! And I like the "after" pictures of Sammy much better than the "before" pictures – we can see him better now! :–)
Both sets of my grandparents made it to 50 years – such an accomplishment.
I absolutely love that evil glint in Sammy's eyes – he's soooo cute but screams mischief lol. Love his new "do"
It's great that you got a pic of your Mom and Dad together and that they've been married so long. Kudos to them!
Wow, Dar, how do you keep all those books straight? I toyed with starting a 3rd book this morning and then said, nah, stick with the two I got going now. How did you like A Catered Affair? I liked it quite a bit – not as much as Jill Mansell but close. Back to What Alice Forgot. See ya in the "pages".
Your parents do look cute in the photo…especially since they look like they really didn't want to pose for it! LOL
Sammy is adorable….
I've been wanting to read What Alice Forgot. I enjoyed Let's Take the Long Way Home. Then I read the book by Caroline Knapp (Caldwell's friend), called Drinking: A Love Story.
Here's MY SUNDAY SALON POST
Dar, I finished What Alice Forgot this morning 🙂 Thanks for suggesting it! Sammy looks adorable – either way! Love the pic of your parents too. Thanks for sharing.
I love the picture of your parents…50 years is incredible! Also love Sammy's new haircut, which is very smart and dapper. I wish I had the time to join you in reading "It". I loved that book when I read it a billion years ago. I also was completely enamoured with What Alice Forgot! Which my book club will be discussing today.
I love that your mom is so much shorter than your dad!
Sammy is adorable!
Your parents are cute-thanks for the photos of Sammy-he is a darling.
Lately I've been reading a few books at once, but it's not working out for me. Once I catch up, I'm going back to my one book at a time. Love the pictures!
Have a great week!
Gosh, Dar, you really do have your hands full with the reading over there! And I thought it was bad for me! I also love the photo of your parents, and think that 50 years is amazing! They look like the perfect couple. Sammy is very adorable as well with his new haircut. Hopefully the weather gets better soon and you can enjoy some time outside. Have a great reading week!
You are reading a lot right now, Dar! I can't wait to read your thoughts on Gail Caldwell's book and What Alice Forgot in particular. I'm always so impressed by how busy your reading calendar & blog are!
The dinner you made sound delicious with all those fresh ingredients. Love that about summer! Your mom & dad are adorable! Love this picture of them. I feel a kinship with your mom because with are both "small" (as in short!) Thank you for shoring this photo!
And Mr. Sammy looks as cute as ever! He's such an adorable ball of fur with the cutest mischevious face! I know he keeps you busy, you've got your hands full with him, Dar!
Have a great week…I'm looking forward to your blog posts!
I do love that last one 😀 He looks so sweet
Sammy's new "do" is sooooo cute. Give him a squeeze from me!
Love the picture of your mom and dad … nearly 50 years of marriage is something to be cherished.
Thanks for the pictures of Sammy. Gosh, he's a cutie with or without a hair cut!
And, your parents are beautiful! It seems unusual, now-a-days, for marriages to last so it's heartwarming to see one of almost 50 years. My parents made it to 49 before my dad died. Thank you for sharing them with us!
As always, Sammy is adorable! And thanks so much for sharing a pic of your mom and dad! Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead, Dar!
Congratulations to your parents on their long marriage; that is quite an accomplishment.
We finally got rain today; I guess my rain dance in the field in the nude at midnight really worked. The gardens were so dry; now I have three full rainbarrels.
Sammy looks cute in his short version. You should put a harness on him and tie him to your waist so that he can't stray too far. Just kidding!

Darlene your Sunday pictures always pick me up, congratulations to your parents their lasting relationship is very nice to see in this century of divorce and breakups after only a few days! Sammy is as usual his adorable self, I like him better clipped personally. Have a great week and thanks for sharing the family photos.
Your parents are TOO CUTE! And of course Sammy looks like a doll. I think I prefer the shorter hair. I keep trying to convince Scott to shave our lab, but mostly because I'm tired of sweeping up the dog hair. Ha! 😉
Hope you have a wonderful week Darlene!
Wow Sammy, I happen to think you look fabulous in your new haircut! You'll also feel so much more comfortable now.
Nice pic. of your parents – wow 50! That's encouraging!
I love the shots of Sammy! And wow, your parents married for 50 years…congrats to them.
Your parents are a cute couple, 50 years is cause for a celebration of their own. Sammy is cute as ever, does he get especially frisky after having his haircut?
My oldest daughter left for Calgary, Saturday morning. She and two friends are driving across Canada, quite an adventure but I'll miss her.
The cuteness is abundant in this post. First your parents (adorable!) and then Sammy. Oh Sammy…whatever will we do with you? LOL.
I always found your puppy posts cute but now that I have a dog, I can totally hear Sammy's voice! It's like…I took Dog 101 or something.
Your folks look great! Always a good idea to get more pictures.
Sammy looks great! I love his curls but I got to say that summer cut is totally hot! He's going to have all the chicks chasing after him!
We had the antique power show this weekend so i'm just catching up on things.
Have a great week!
Yay Sammy is back 🙂
He looks adorable as always.
My dad lived just long enough to make it to 50 years with my mom. Your parents look like they are doing great.
Hope you enjoy your busy week of reading and blogging.
that dinner sounds great!! Your parents are cute and the pics of Sammy are adorable. He's got quite the mischievous gleam in his eyes!!!
Dar, just catching up here–the photo of your parents is lovely. You are lucky to have them both and be close to them as well.
Oh Sammy, you handsome boy! You're gorgeous with that new hairstyle! Your mommy is really busy with all the books she's reading or have read. Haha!
