Good morning everyone. I hope you’re all having a great weekend. Has anyone done anything special or fun this weekend? Here in Alberta it was much too cold to do anything but stay inside unless you’re a die hard winter fan which I’m not! We had a winter storm this past week and got a dump of snow but it’s really the cold winds that are the worst. With the windchill it’s about 20 below in Fahrenheit – very cold. Worse yet is that Sammy still seems to love it out there even though it’s so cold. I’ve been putting his boots on – it’s just too cold without them. I let him out once without them and he was lifting his paws within a minute or two. It’s a battle to get those boots on though. I’ll have to get a picture of him this winter all dressed up for you guys. I didn’t this week but I will.
I haven’t been doing too well with my reading. I just can’t seem to motivate myself to read. I’m really tired though so that could be it. This cold weather really does take my steam right along with it. Normally I like to read in bed early in the evening and into the night once I get Sammy to sleep but lately I’ve been falling asleep with him. Luckily after tomorrow it is supposed to be warming up – thank God!
What’s up for the blog this week. Well let’s take a look…
Monday – Review of So Far Away by Christine W. Hartmann
Tuesday – Book Spotlight/Giveaway of Running Away to Home by Jennifer Wilson
Wednesday – Still up in the air
Thursday – Guest Post/Giveaway with Melissa Foster, author of Come Back to Me
Friday – Still kind of up in the air – depends on how much I feel like reading
Saturday – Book Spotlight/Giveaway of Narrow’s Gate by Jim Fusilli
Now for Sammy. Did I tell you guys that he still wants to go for a walk in this crappy weather. Needless to say we are not going far because his mommy has a really hard time breathing when it gets this cold. So we bundle up – him in his booties and coat and me in so many clothes and scarves that you can barely find me. I just take him a short way down the block and up our alley and he seems happy enough with that. It’ll be nice for him when it warms up though and we can go a bit further. He hasn’t really done anything terribly bad this week – surprise, surprise and other than the battle we have putting his booties on he’s been good. His tummy is a bit off this week so maybe that’s why he’s actually been fairly good. Hopefully this week will be a better week for him. Anyhow I only have a few pictures of him to share with you this week. I’ll try to get more for next weekend.
Oh where or where can I hide my sockie this time??? By the way mommy wants me to mention that I cry the whole time I’m trying to bury my sock. I don’t know why that’s important since all she does is laugh at me but she wanted you all to know.
Ok, I need something else to do now mommy or I’m going to have to find something on my own and you know what happens when I do that – you start yipping at me and chasing me around the house to get whatever it is out of my lips. It’s really no fun for me since obviously it’s something I’d like to chew up.
Maybe I’ll relax a bit although if she keeps up with that camera I’m going to get up and find something to get in trouble with. Mommy says I have a bit of a mischievous look in my eye and she’s probably right. I do spend my days looking for things to chew or destroy. It’s a pretty good pastime in my doggie world.
Well that’s it for me. I’m going to spend the day trying to read and not freeze. Hopefully I’ll finish up my laundry and get the bed changed as well. I still have my summer clothes to put away and pull out any of the winter stuff that still fits. After losing almost 47 pounds I can tell you that nothing fits me anymore and I never did pop into the store to buy some warmer stuff. I’m not a fan of shopping for clothes but I’m going to have to at least get some pants. It doesn’t matter if sweaters are too big but your pants falling off isn’t really a good thing.
I hope everyone has a great week. I did an awful job of visiting your blogs this week. My motivation for that is nil as well but I’m going to try to get my butt in gear this week. I miss everyone and knowing what’s going on in your lives so if anything important has happened please let me know. With it warming up again my hands should feel better and I can get my commenting fingers going I hope. Take care everyone!
I think if it were cold, I’d stay inside and do nothing BUT read! I am always tempted to go outside when the weather is good. Being at the beach this week is definitely going to distract me. Love the pictures this week…he has such expressions on his face!
Wow,congrats on losing 47 pounds! I’ve got an extra 10-15 I’d like to get rid of but it’s so darn hard. Like ou, I hate clothes shopping. When we moved to florida for the winter, I only took one summery outfit with me so I’d HAVE to get some much-needed new clothes. I ended up going to Walmart and just grabbing whatever. Luckily, everything except one pair of capris fit. Now, I’ll have a Maine wardrobe and a Florida wardrobe and won’t have to pack much when we travel back and forth.
The captions under the cute pics of Sammy always make me chuckle!
Have a good week and try to stay warm!
Sammy is so cute! And wow, I can think of worse reasons not to have anything to wear! :–)
I feel bad for whining about our “cold” weather right now. Stay warm!
It does sound incredibly cold over there, Dar, and like it would be miserable to be outside. We have been fluctuating between hot and cold for the past few weeks now, and it’s sort of driving my crazy! I would love it for the weather to get colder and for things to start feeling more like winter. I can’t wait to see Sammy in his boots! That must be a sight to see! Have a great week over there, my friend!
Oh my! It sounds SO cold where you are at. I keep thinking that I’m ready for winter but then again, I don’t think that I am 🙂 We have to go find a coat for our little doggie as well. She is just too tiny to play out in the snow without one. I hope that you have a great week Dar and maybe you’ll be able to get back to reading as well!
Sorry you don’t like the cold, you can send it down to me if you want. And the snow when you get a bunch. Our weather here has been going back and forth between hot and a little bit cooler. I’d love to see some cold and snow. I especially miss the snow.
Sammy is adorable as always. Hope you both stay warm!
Glad that Sammy likes to go outside, even if it is cold out. I have a friend that has to use training pads because her dog will NOT go outside in the snow. So far, no snow for us yet, we are enjoying extended mild weather. Hope your reading picks up.
Brrr! The first cold snap of the winter always feels so…cold. 🙂 Can’t wait to see the pics of Sammy in his winter gear!
We haven’t gotten that cold yet, but it’s coming and I’m dreading it. Zelda doesn’t like the cold either. She wears a coat, but the snow bothers her paws. I considered getting boots last winter and never did. Guess it’s time to think about it again, but it seems so strange to put boots on a dog, lol! Try and stay warm 🙂
yes buy some pants, we can’t have you dropping them by mistake :=)
It’s starting to get cold here too, but nothing like where you live! I’m with you on the getting motivated part..hard to do sometimes. Isn’t it crazy how the dogs just love the cold? Me…not too much! I’m doing laundry right now too. Ah, I’ve found a kindred soul..I hate shopping for clothes!!
Have a great week, Dar!
It sure sounds cold there! I love to get warm and cozy in bed and read. Usually some of the cats join me. Like you, though, I have been falling asleep early the past few weeks! I’m totally missing the night hours when I read and read. I’m on some new meds that might help. I hope your weather warms u for your sake…and Sammy’s! I can just imagine how difficult it must be to get boots on him…and how adorable he looks with them on.
It’s awesonme you lost 47 pounds Congratulations, Dar! I think you need new pants! I like to shop on-line but it’s much easier if you know your size and fit.
Great photos! I love the last one where Sammy is looking over his shoulder at you. He looks like he’s up to no good, though!
Are you excited for Christmas? This week is Thanksgiving here. I’m looking forward to a long weekend of reading!
I hope you have a good week, Dar!
Huge congrats on the weight loss! Those pictures of Sammy are adorable.
Happy Sunday, Dar! Hugs to you and Sammy.
Oh Darlene–maybe a bit of a break will help? Reading should be fun, not a chore. 🙁 Hope that you’re able to find something good soon. I know how discouraging it can be to not feel like reading.
I can’t believe how big Sammy is looking in those pictures!! And 47 pounds? Wow!!
I hope it warms up a bit for you and that Sammy lets u struggle less to put those boots on. 🙂
Poor Dar and Sammy in the frozen wilds of Canada!
Hope it gets a little more temperate for both of you.
Sorry to hear that Sammy is having tummy troubles 🙁 I know how hard that can be on Mommy, lol.
Like you, I hate to shop for clothes…pretty much I’m a reluctant shopper except when it comes to a few limited things: books, tea and tea-related items, and fun kitchen gadgets that I love to buy and never use.
Congratulations on the weight loss! That is terrific! 20 below is too cold! I’d be staying in too! Sammy looks cute as always. He’s looking grown up these days. I hope you have a great week!
What is it with these Havanese and socks!? I swear that Romeo thinks that me doing laundry is an invitation to grab and steal socks. My number of socks with no mates is rising steadily!!
Hope it warms up for you guys … that sounds way too cold for me. I totally want to see Sammy in these booties!
I can’t believe how grown up Sammy is! It seems like just a few weeks ago he was a little puppy!
It sounds like it’s cold over there Dar. Sammy looks handsome! Did he go to the groomers? He looks too cute.
Diego won’t wear his booties. He throws himself on his side and refuses to get up when I try to make him wear them…lol.
