Book Spotlight: Enjoy Every Sandwich: Living Each Day as If It Were Your Last by Lee Lipsenthal & Giveaway

January 7, 2012 by Darlene

Happy Saturday everyone!  It’s hard to believe but the first week of January is already over.  I have a great book to spotlight for you all today called  Enjoy Every Sandwich:  Living Each Day as If It Were Your Last by Lee Lipsenthal and I think the first sentence of the book description says it all:  “Be grateful for something every day, and remember to live fully, love well, and enjoy every moment”.  Wow, how true that is and for this author even more so.  He unfortunately lost his battle with cancer and passed in September.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.  His message is so important though because sometimes in the hubbub of everyday life we forget to enjoy life and remember how very lucky we are to have it.  I’m going to tell you a bit about the book and then give you a chance to win your very own copy.

About  Enjoy Every Sandwich:  Living Each Day as If It Were Your Last by Lee Lipsenthal

Be grateful for something every day, and remember to live fully, love well, and enjoy every moment.

Dr. Lee Lipsenthal worked with Dr. Dean Ornish at the famed Preventive Medicine Research Institute. As medical director of the Institute, he helped thousands of patients to overcome their fear of pain and death and to embrace living life with joy every day. In his own life, happily married and the proud father of two remarkable children, Lee was similarly committed to living life fully and gratefully each day.

The power of these beliefs was tested in July 2009, when Lee was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. As Lee and his wife, Kathy, navigated his illness and treatment over the past two years, Lee discovered that he did not fear death. Instead of fearing the future, he took the time to practice gratitude, connect with his loved ones, and make every attempt to live a full life with each breath. Enjoy Every Sandwich is Lee’s lasting gift to his family, his friends, his colleagues and to readers.

Lee died on Tuesday, September 20. It is now our honor to spread Lee’s message with this special book.

Wow, this sounds really emotional. And how special that the author is spreading such a powerful message even after he has passed away. ‘Be grateful for something every day'<-words to live by.

My husband and I try to live every day to its fullest and take pleasure in all the little but wonderful things that life has to offer. The purples of the sunrise, the sun glinting off the mountain snow, a student’s joy in getting that tough math problem and such. Unfortunately it took several family members passing away or being ill to make us realize this. But ours lives are much fuller now.
Thank you so much for the giveaway. I follow on GFC as deanna_boocock.

I am very interested in this book. I have MGUS (Monogammonathy of Uncertain Origin) which sometimes develops into bone marrow cancer. When I was having the initial tests, I was really scared. Then when some enlarged lymp nodes showed up on my CT scan, I had to have a biopsy. It turned out to be sarcoidosis instead of Lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes. Now I go to my oncologist every three months to be monitored. Having been through this cancer scare twice, I definitely to enjoy life!!! I really want to read his book, that was a beautiful trailer.
