Read-a-Long: Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

January 9, 2012 by Darlene

I’m excited to announce that Naida from The Bookworm and I are going to have a read-a-long for Gone With the Wind.  Every year Naida’s Romance Reading Challenge comes up and we both say we’re going to read Gone With the Wind and yet we never do.  Well this year is going to be different!  We’re going to read it and we hope you’ll want to join in with us!  You do not have to join in the Romance Challenge to read Gone With the Wind with us.

Here’s the Information…

*The Gone With the Wind Read-A-Long will be done in 5 parts. Official start date is January 16th.

*Discussion 1 will take place at Naida’s blog on February 14th, Valentine’s Day. We will be discussing Chapters 1-7.

*Each consecutive discussion date will be announced on the current discussion post. i.e…on the February 14th post, we will announce the next discussion date and so on and so forth.

Anyone is welcome to join us. Read-a-long with us and have some fun discussing this epic novel.  If you’d like to join in just leave a comment here on this post, grab the button above, and let’s get started!

It’s going to be so much fun and I really hope others will want to join in and read with us.  If you’ve already read the book and aren’t up for a re-read then I hope you’ll pop in for the discussions.  Gone With the Wind has been a long time favorite of mine and I’m really looking forward to curling up and enjoying it once again!

I loved “Gone with the Wind” but I don’t think I would want to read it again though. Great challenge!

I did a read-along with this book a few years ago…my first time reading it believe it or not! I loved the book though. Good luck!

This is such a great readalong! I am already committed to 2 others at the moment, but I do have the book, and will see if I can add it into the mix too! Good Luck, Dar!

I’m sure you will have fun with this one. I’ve read the book twice and enjoyed it both times.

I am originally from Atlanta and read GWTW the first time when I was about 12. I think I’ve read it about 4 or 5 times, and just finished reading it recently. Each time I read it, I take something new away. This last reading I concentrated more on the history of the time (I am a Civil War buff anyway, and so concentrating on the war history was fun for me). You will notice my website is called katiescarlett…..well it is actually my dog’s site (ha) and she was named for Katie Scarlett O’Hara!

Can’t wait to get started Dar 🙂 This is going to be fun! It’s the type of novel to get lost in for a while.

So exciting! I’m finishing up GWTW on my Kindle right now… I’m 93% through it. 🙂 But I’ll definitely be checking up on your discussions!

It’s much more of a gripping pageturner than I ever expected. I’d read it on the bus to campus and back… and I can recall several times that I was so emotionally moved that I was quickly wiping away tears on the bus ride.

I read this many, many years ago and am very tempted to join in. I have the new anniversary edition and an old book club edition I found at a tag sale. I will have to think about it.

Whew! I think the only way to read this one is through a readalong. 😉 Enjoy! That Scarlett is quite the character.
