HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE!
Happy Sunday all! Has everyone had a good weekend? What did you all do? I hope something more exciting than what I did which is staying inside and staying warm. So much for no snow – we have lots now! It’s been bitterly cold too which makes it worse. I can tell you my walks with Sammy haven’t been a lot of fun. I’m so bundled up I can barely move. I really should get you all a picture of what Sam and I look like when we head out for our walks. I will for next week. It is supposed to be warming up for next week and I’m glad because it’s been a constant battle getting Sammy’s booties on him to go outside. I ended up making some fleecy liners for his booties because his feet were getting cold. They’re working great thank goodness.
Let’s see on the reading front there isn’t much going on. I’m trying to get caught up on review copies and read what I’ve committed to in the next few months too. After that I’d really like to focus on NetGalley books because they have a whole ton of really great up and coming books to read. Right now I’m reading a book called Ru by Kim Thuy which I’m really liking. It’s a short book so I’ll probably have a review up quickly. As for next week I don’t have a lot going on – I left January as a slow month. I was hoping that would give me a chance to get more reading done but it hasn’t seemed to work out that way.
As for Sammy – well he’s enjoying the snow or at least he is now that it warmed up a bit. It was so cold last week that even he wasn’t enjoying it much and would go out and run back in. To me it’s still really cold but obviously for the fluff ball it isn’t so bad with his clothes on. When we come home from a walk he rubs his face back and forth in the snow or sticks his nose right under it. I wish I had pictures for you guys but in this cold if I take my mittens off even for a minute my hands freeze so no pictures. Sorry. This coming week is warming up so I’ll try to get some pictures of him playing out in the backyard in the snow. For now I’m just posting a bit of an older picture for you because I still haven’t gotten my computer fixed which also means I haven’t downloaded the pictures from my new camera. Sorry again.
I’m hoping to get Sam groomed this week – he looks just like a baby bear cub right now. You can’t even find his eyeballs right now. I’m also hoping to get a lot of reading done but we’ll see. Whenever I plan those kinds of things they never seem to happen. What do all of you have planned for the week? What are you reading – anything good? Well that’s it for me this week. Have a great day everyone!
Aw glad Sammy is enjoying the snow! And he sounds so cute as a baby bear cub. 😉
Amy, Sammy does love the snow. I wish I did as much as he does!
Sammy sounds like his usual rambunctious self! Also, I know you must be going crazy with all that snow everywhere! I am deep in the midst of several books, but the one I am most entranced with is Cinder. It’s a very interesting read, and I am enjoying it a lot! I’ve also got a classic and a non fiction read as well as a couple of audios. It’s chaos over here, I tell you! Give me a call sometime this week if you can!
Heather, yup Sam is as rambunctious as ever. I wish I even had a tiny bit of his energy. I’ve seen a lot of reviews for Cinder – do you think it’s one I might like. Yes, we’ve got to get a phone call in here soon!
I’m laughing because I know exactly how it feels to have high hopes for your week, but things never work out quite like you think it will. I innocently think each week things will get quieter. Ha! You will think me spoiled, but we have been getting 80 degree weather, which is nice but is feeling pretty wrong in January. I would love to wear a turtleneck just for awhile.
I was at my in-laws last week and I thought it was cold there. I’d probably never leave my house if I lived where you do. Stay warm!
Kathy, you’re right – you’d probably never go outside. lol.
His eyes are a riot! you’re right – barely visible! LOL
Jill, I can never tell if he’s eying me up for mischief when his hair is long. Odds are he is!
I would love to see Sammy with all his gear on…it sounds too cute!! We need to get our puppy groomed as well but I’m waiting until Spring because she is so tiny and it is TOO cold lately 🙂 But we have snow as well and the kids are just loving it! Hope you have a great week!
Sam, he is cute with his booties and coat. I’m lucky that Sammy is bigger and heavier because he can take the cold quite well. I just bet the kids are loving the snow. I remember loving it when I was a kid too – how fast that disappears when we get older. lol.
Awww…Sammy sounds like he likes the snow. We got some white stuff here too yesterday.
I’m sure the two of you bundle up for the walks.
Diego won’t go out in it, and he knows its snowing so he just stays cuddled up inside.
I’ll be watching football today and relaxing.
Enjoy your Sunday 🙂
Naida, it seems the snow has finally arrived everywhere this year. I just hope we don’t get what we did last year. I hope you’re having a great week. Have you started GWTW yet? I’m thinking of starting this weekend.
Happy Sunday to you and little Sammy, Dar!
I can picture him all fuzzy like a bear, happily bounding through the snow. Give him a squeeze from me!
Hi Beth H, I hope you’re having a wonderful week. Sammy has been having so much fun rubbing himself all over the snow this week. lol. He said to give you some of his prized Sammy slurps!
We’re waiting for the warmer weather too. Except it is supposed to bring rain to turn our snow all sloppy and icy. Yuck! You really have to get some pics of your cold weather outfits. 🙂
Janel, I hope you didn’t get rain. That’s our forecast for this week. Just what we need is rain on top of this snow. I’ll get some pics yet of us bundled up together.
Stay warm DAR-I do not miss those Canadian winter days at all. I am in Ca and at 56 degrees am having a hard time getting motivated for a ride. Not sure I am really Canadian-I have become a soft boiled egg. It stinks having to take out the pets in the cold but I am sure Sammy does his business quickly. Have a good day.
Esme, I don’t blame you for not missing Canadian winters. I really have to wonder what I’m doing here all these years when I’m really not fond of snow and cold at all. LOL – Sam does not do his business quickly – he has to wander around first. Although in the really bad cold last week he was being speedier.
I don’t envy you the snow!! My guys are going to the groomer this week as well. Their haircuts cost more than mine – but they look better as well…
Have a great week and stay warm!
Patti
Patricia, Sam’s haircuts cost more than mine too. lol. And he definitely looks much better than me. It’s finally warmed up this week thank goodness.
Happy Sunday Darlene and Sammy! Our warm spell broke too and we got cold and snow. Today is warmer with chance of freezing drizzle and more snow tonite. Can’t complain too much, it’s not as much snow as usual.
Reading John Adams by David McCullough, just started it and it’s been interesting.
I too start out each new week with high hopes and a long list but never happens…..
Carla, we don’t have anywhere near the snow we got last year. Our garden is practically empty whereas last year it was topping our fence. I’m not complaining although I know no snow isn’t the best for the farmers out here. LOL – I think we all start our weeks with high hopes and then boom, another week is gone and nothing is accomplished.
Our weather is pretty much like yours, Dar. So I’ll be staying in and reading or watching my granddaughter. Our dog is happy not to have to walk in the snow/ice. She refuses to wear sweaters or booties so no walks. She runs around inside the house though 🙂
Mary, I’ve noticed our weather is very similar. Your granddaughter is just beautiful. Sam hates the booties but there is no choice. He’s lifting a paw after only being out for a minute or so when it’s really cold.
Time to move south I think! 🙂 I think its getting colder here…we’ve been in the 20s…we had an inch of snow, but that’s it so far. Anna and I had our first book club meeting yesterday, and we’re hoping this one will keep going…unlike our previous failed attempts. Our first book is The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, which I’ve read before and enjoyed…it will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks.
Serena, you don’t know how often during the winter that I consider moving. lol. I hope your book club works this time! If I lived there I’d be in there with you both.
Sounds kind of miserable!!! We got a little bit of snow yesterday so Romeo got his first experience with snow. He spent so much time eating it that I thought he was going to freeze inside. He seemed to enjoy it and bounced around like a rabbit. We took him for a walk and his little feet were slipping on the ice … I was laughing so hard. He must be so confused as to what is going on. He was super cold though and his belly was filled with ice chunks but he couldn’t wait to go back out. Hope things warm up for you soon.
Jenners, it was miserable. Sam likes to eat the snow too. Mostly he likes to stick his whole head in it and look around. What he can see under the snow I don’t know. lol. You may have to make some cute little fleece booties for Romeo. lol. It did finally warm up but now we’re supposed to get more snow and freezing rain. Yuck!
Darlene, sorry it is so cold there! Sounds like Sammy is enjoying the snow!
Sherri, it’s warmed up thank goodness. Oh yeah, Sam loves the snow.
I wouldn’t enjoy walking a dog in this cold weather, even one as cute as Sammy. Have a great week Dar.
LOL Diane, I don’t always enjoy the walks in the cold either. Hope you’re having a great week!
I like the bear cub look!!! It was brutally cold here for a few days and now a heat wave has rolled in! Crazy crazy weather for sure!! You are a lot braver than me about going for a walk!!
Have a great week!
Staci, I love when Sam looks like a bear cub too but unfortunately I can’t leave his hair like that because it will eventually mat. It has been a crazy year for weather here too but no matter what it’s like Sam expects to go out. I suppose in the long run that’s good for me.
I don’t mind the snow so much if it’s not cold or the cold so much if it’s not snowy but I hate when they come together! Hope it warms up soon for you!
Lisa, I don’t mind the snow if only it stayed off the roads and sidewalks. The worst is the really bitter cold though because you just stay cooped up inside for the most part. Anyhow, it has warmed up and now we’re worrying about freezing rain.
Thanks for a Sammy fix! I love his long, curly fur! This weekend? We went boating to the beach! We’re really enjoying our first winter away from NH! I read for awhile in the sun and it was wonderful.
Linda J, ugggh, how I envy you boating and going to the beach. I bet you can see my pout all the way to there. lol. I would love to lay out in the summer sun even for just a bit.
Sammy looks cute all fuzzy. Hope he gets some more fun time in the snow. My dog loved running around in it. Every year after the first snow fall he would act like he’d never seen snow before!
Leslie, Sam is very fuzzy right now. With it warmer right now he’s really having fun in the snow. I guess I should consider myself lucky he likes it because I know a lot of people whose dogs refuse to go out in it at all.
I haven’t taken the Otter Pup to the groomer yet. I groom her myself with clippers and everything and she seems to like it. But, at her vaccine appt last Friday they told me all about anal glands so she will be going to the groomer or vet for that regularly. Ewww!
Ti, Sammy has way too much hair for me to do his plus with my hands now I just can’t. He’s great when I comb him and he loves it but cutting all that hair and making him look decent would be too much. I’m with you on the glands. Not all dogs have issues with those – Buddy never did and Sam seems ok so far too.
Have a great week with Sammy 🙂
Thanks Linda. I hope you’re having a great week!
So sad about it being too cold to take off your mitts to snap a picture! I don’t think I’d last a week up there where you are–I’m such a wimp when it comes to the cold. We’ve been having a really mild winter–hope it doesn’t mean another treacherous summer!
Hope you have a great week!
Trish, as I get older the cold is getting harder for me to handle too. It’s warmed up a lot now though and now there is the threat of freezing rain to deal with on top of the snow and ice already. Hope you’re having a great week. Give Elle a squeeze for me!
Sammy sure does love the snow, but who doesn’t? Our winter has been mild and pretty good so far, but I’m sure that just jinxed it. Very busy for me lately, and I have bad cold, so here’s to hoping February is better 🙂
Miss ya and stay warm!
