Happy Sunday everyone!
Happy Sunday everyone! What’s everybody up to this weekend? Is anyone reading anything really awesome? I hope none of you are in the areas that have been getting hit so hard with the storms. If you are my thoughts and prayers are with you. In comparison I can’t complain about our weather. It’s been cool but as I said before spring is almost here so that’s ok. Sammy has been trying valiantly to climb all the snowbanks and I can see that he will get stuck one day and I highly doubt I can lift his heavy butt out. lol.
So I said last week that I was trying to get some crocheting done and this week I started a simple blanket in knitting. I took a couple of pictures and I was lazy so I just set them down on the floor and as you can plainly see Sammy had to be right in the middle of them.
The first one is of my knitting – if any of you have made the granny square dish cloths, then this is the same concept. You can make a blanket the same way by adding stitches until you have your desired size and then decreasing back down. It actually turns out quite nice and what I like is that it’s easy to do while watching tv or reading on my iPad.
The second one is my crocheting and ignore all the pieces of yarn that aren’t weaved in yet. This is also really easy to do while watching tv or reading. I usually shy away from the complicated things that I have to count on because I do like to multitask. I have such a pile of yarn that I’m thinking of throwing together a few blankets and seeing if the cancer institute here still takes them or we have an old folks home a few blocks away and maybe they’d like them too. I sure can’t imagine using them all myself.
On the reading front I haven’t been doing too bad. I read both of Meg Cabot’s books, Insatiable and Overbite and liked both. Right now I’m reading The King’s Agent by Donna Russo Morin for my review tomorrow and enjoying it. Here’s what the week looks like….
Monday – Review of The King’s Agent by Donna Russo Morin
Tuesday – Book Spotlight/Giveaway of Blood Orchids by Toby Neal
Wednesday – Guest Post with Naomi King, author of Abby Finds Her Calling & Giveaway
Thursday – Review of The Turning of Anne Merrick by Christine Blevins
Friday – Book Spotlight/Giveaway of Another Piece of My Heart by Jane Green
Saturday – Book Spotlight/Giveaway of the White Pearl by Kate Furnivall
Sunday – Something to celebrate my Blogiversary which is on March 8!
So another really busy week here on the blog. I’m not sure what I’ll be doing to celebrate my blogiversary but it’ll be some kind of giveaway I imagine. I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for 4 years already. It sure has gone by in a flash!
Now for Sammy this week I thought I’d share this video of him having a jolly good time chasing me around the house to get my sock and then of course he got it. Watch your volume though as I was laughing and yelping at him while he was almost landing me on my butt. It’s a bit unsteady as well for obvious reasons – it’s really hard to take video when being attacked by your pup!
And then this was the all innocent Sammy when I showed him just what he had done to aforementioned sock!
Awwwwwwww, come on mommy – it’s not that bad! It’s just a little teeny tiny hole. Come on mommy… look how cute I am – you know you can’t resist this face and this oh so pathetic look that I have mastered just for you!
There is certainly never a dull day with Sam in the house. He continually keeps me on my toes or off of them occasionally. lol. If I had even a third of his energy I’d be one happy gal!
Now for some book winners this week…
Diary of a Mad Fat Girl by Stephanie McAfee — Anita Y
Dating the Undead by Gena Showaltter & Jill Monroe — Shelley B
Before She Dies by Mary Burton — Nise from Under the Boardwalk
Sonoma Rose by Jennifer Chiaverini — scottsgal
Day of Honey by Annia Ciezadlo — Rhonda
Congrats to you all! I hope you’ll enjoy your books and these will be coming to you from the publishers.
Well that’s all for this week. I don’t think I’ll be up to much this week other than I hope getting ahead on my reading. I’ve got a ton of organizing in my basement I want to get started on as well so I may tackle that too. Have a great week everyone!
Heeheehee loved the video! I think its really your feet he loves. So if I came over to visit would he go after my socks or is it just yours?
I like the checkered pattern on your granny square blanket. Thats cool!
Wendy, Sammy does love my feet – he is also a foot licking dog. It drives me nuts. And yes he does like to attempt to go after other people’s socks as well although I don’t let him.
Aw, that Sammy sure keeps you busy! Milou was the same way when she was small – if Vance and his friends tried to play a board game on the floor, she sit on the board. Your projects look great! Congratulations to the winners!
Kathy, yes Sammy keeps me more than busy. He does love to be right in the middle of everything, no matter what it is.
that video so made me smile! It was fun to hear you laughing. 🙂
Bloggiversary coming up?! Can’t wait to see what you have planned.
Trish, glad you liked the video. I didn’t realize it recorded the voice too. I don’t have anything huge for the blogiversary. I wish I could think of something fantastic but I can’t seem to.
I love the picture with Sammy and the sock…it looks like he is saying that it wasn’t him 🙂 Ha! And the video was SUPER cute as well. Thanks for sharing and I hope that you have a great week Darlene!
Sam, whenever I point to a hole in my sock he looks at me innocently like it wasn’t him. He’s such a little bugger.
OMG! He is so funny! He is looking at your sock like: “Yeah, I don’t know who coulda done that.”
Melissa, that is exactly what he does whenever he’s in trouble. Gives me those eyes of his and then I just have to laugh.
Happy Sunday Dar 🙂 Sammy is tooo cute! He’s feisty in the video! The crocheting and knitting is coming along nicely. I like the granny square pattern, you can just about use it to make anything.
Have a great week 🙂
Naida, Sam is always feisty except when we finally go to bed. It’s really almost the only time I get any peace and quiet. lol.
I like the granny square too because it’s so easy and you don’t have to concentrate at all. I could do a lot more intricate things if I wanted to take the time and even more importantly the patience.
Looks like Sammy likes the chase! He also is a good inspector of your creative side! He is just too darn cute.
Nise, Sam loves the chase. The only thing is that he gets really crazy and starts jumping and biting. I still need to get him out of that and he probably will as he gets older. Hope you’re feeling better!
Sammy. Is the cutest.thanks so much for the book day of honey.
Rhonda, thanks for popping in. I forgot to send out the emails for the winners. It’s coming. lol.
I’d love to have time to knit. I had crocheted many years ago & loved it but when the 3 kids came along it left many projects in bags by the wayside! Now I have a grandbaby Riley & can’t do it. But I love to see your knitting. I love the squares! Sammy is a handful but so adorable! have a great afternoon 🙂
Lisa, yes most things go by the wayside with either kids or puppies. When Sam came along I didn’t have any time for anything. It’s only lately that I’ve been able to get back into it. Yes he’s a handful but I wouldn’t give him up!
I love your knitting and crocheting! I’ll send you some pics of mine. I have a sweater I still need to finish. It’s been a while since I worked on it.
Melissa, I’d love to see some of your projects!
Sammy and the sock is so cute. And his little face looks so innocent too. I have never been able to knit or crochet, something about those yarn projects and I’m all thumbs. Give me a sewing machine and I’m fine.
Leslie, Sammy loves to think he’s innocent whether he’s chewing a sock or tearing up my living room rug. lol. Now I’m good with the yarn projects but don’t give me a sewing machine. I can’t even get the thing threaded properly.
Sammy is a cutie as always 🙂
And good luck with the basement
Linda, I never did start on that basement. lol.
That video is so cute! What is the deal with dogs and socks/shoes anyway? Hey way to go on 4 years of blogging. That is like 15 years in normal time isn’t it? You sound very productive on the blog this week. I am a mess. If I don’t get serious about catching up with my reviews, I’m going to be in a heap of trouble very soon.
Sandy, you know Buddy never cared about socks or shoes – well he did like slippers but he was never destructive like Sam.
I can’t believe I’ve been blogging 4 years. It sure has gone by quickly. I still have one review to catch up and I’d better do it before I completely forget the book.
What a great video…love it. I can’t believe you are knitting all those great projects…wonderful…you are more talented than I am.
Serena, knitting calms me and that’s why I like it. It’s also good for my joints so I try to keep up with it. I’m not as talented as some people. I’d love to be able to make sweaters and socks. Well maybe not socks. All that hard work and then Sammy would eat them.
Sammy sure enjoys posing for you. Like all of your projects — you’ve been busy. Have a great week Dar.
Diane, Sam actually hates the camera. It’s a struggle to get a good picture of him. Usually he turns away from the camera and I have to patiently wait until he turns back. However just put out the knitting and he’ll be in there like a dirty shirt.
I had a little dog named Taco that looked like the dog on Taco Bell. She ate the couch in my familyroom. There were holes almost as big as she was. What’s even funnier than that is that she had 4 puppies that looked just like your Sammy. I wish that I still had pics because it’s so hard to believe. Give Sammy a dog treat & a hug from me & Thanks for the great blog. 😉
Diane B – Sammy did chew the corners of the couch when he was a baby. Thankfully he just chewed the cording on the edges. Thanks for loving the blog – I appreciate it!
Sammy is so adorable. 🙂 I love your blankets. I wish I had the patience and talent for knitting or crotcheting. I tried taking a class once since I couldn’t manage to teach myself . . . Epic failure.
I hope you have a great week!
Wendy (Lit Feline) – I only have the patience for the simple projects in knitting and crocheting. When it starts to get more complicated my patience wears thin. I can do it, I just don’t like all the time it takes.
Romeo caught sight of Sammy on the computer and started growling!!! I’ve had the same problem putting my socks on!
Jenners, that’s hilarious. When I was playing it Sammy was barking at himself. lol. What is it with these Havanese and their socks? Does Romeo like to lick your toes? That’s one of Sammy’s favorite pastimes – licking hands and feet. He drives me crazy.
It was good to hear your voice! I love that Sammy was not interested in the sock once it was off…hilarious.
Serena, I didn’t realize it recorded my voice until I played it back. lol. Yup, once Sam gets what he wants he couldn’t care less anymore.
Sammy is just too cute!
Thanks Carol, I think so too!
Hey Darlene!
My gosh, Sammy is just adorable – wish I could go hug him right now.
I have a question though:
would you mind dropping by my blog and copy + pasting the comment you left yesterday? I’d love to have it over at the photo challenge page itself. Forgot to close the comments on that particular blog post, but nonetheless I think a link to your Sammy posts would be amazing there. I had the pets love suggestion for last month anyway and there is so much love in your posts I can’t imagine the page without a link to your sweet posts 🙂
Have an awesome day *hugs*
Estrella, I’ll give him a hug for you. I’m confused on your comment though. You want me to post my comment over on your other photo blog? I’ll go over and take a look. Hugs to you too!
Yay, thanks for helping with the hug for Sammy 🙂
That comment you left yesterday – would you mind copying it over to the blog page mentioned in the post you originally left it on? With an added link to your Sammy posts of course 🙂
I love to knit, but haven’t picked up my needles in a few years… you are inspiring me to tackle a new project!
JoAnn, I wish you would tackle a new project and post the results!
4 years! I know i say this every year, but still I can’t believe it. Happy Blogiversary 🙂
Kona prefers my knitted house socks, but will grab regular socks in a pinch. Blankets are a great way to do some mindless knitting. You may want to try a grater stitch shawl some time too. as for crochet, I may try that over the summer. I’ll keep you posted.
Jen, I can’t believe it’s been 4 years already. I can’t see myself stopping anytime soon either.
Too funny about Kona. I can’t give Sam anything knitted because he pulls the strings and eats them.
I do like using the garter stitch as well mixed with some purling. I have a prayer shawl I started years ago like that but I lost where I am on it now. I may have to try and figure it out since I was so close to finishing.
Ah c’mon Mommy – it’s not like there aren’t lots of socks in the house and look how cute Sammy looks tearing one up!
That is too stinkin’ funny! I love how he just won’t let you go without getting that sock!! Looks like your week of reading is so busy!!!
It wasn’t the sock he wanted! LOL!
My pup takes all the shoes out of this basket we keep them in and flings them all over the house when we are out. She doesn’t do anything to them, but I think she does it to let us know that she isn’t pleased with our schedules.
