This is how I intend to spend my day today. How about everyone else?
Happy Sunday everyone! Can you believe it’s almost December already – I can’t! Has anyone started decorating for Christmas yet? I hope to start today with a bit of house decorating and hopefully by the weekend the tree can go up. One good thing is that I am almost done my Christmas shopping. Yaaaaaaaaaaay! I did take advantage of Black Friday deals online and got a lot done then. Were any of you brave enough to actually venture out to the stores?
Well winter has most definitely arrived here in Canada and especially Alberta. We got hit with a huge dump of snow not even a few weeks ago and it was a mess here as it had been really wet snow underneath which froze. Our roads were horrible and truthfully I’m not sure they’re much better now. To top it off it’s been pretty cold although it’s mostly the wind that’s been getting us. I bundle up so much to take Sam for a walk that I’m surprised I can move at all. LOL. I took a whole bunch of pictures of the snow that day and then of Sam having a jolly good time in it. He loves the winter and the snow!
Here is a picture of a tree in my backyard that we chopped down this year. I had hoped to decorate it with garlands before it snowed but I wasn’t fast enough. I may still try though!
You can see all the snow piled on it and it was still falling as you see in the picture.
Here are a few more out in the front yard where you can really see the amount of snow that fell…
I took this close up of the apple tree because I liked how it looked with all the snow stuck to it.
And then we’ve got Sam in the snow. The pictures are dark because I had to wait until it stopped snowing to take my camera outside so they were later in the afternoon already when it was starting to get dark.
Yup, I’ve got a mug full of snow and I’ve been running around and jumping in snow banks so I really need a good stretch now.
Awwwww Mom, I don’t want to go in yet. My face isn’t quite frozen enough yet. Can’t I go in a few more snow banks? Pleeeeeeeeeease!
As for the blog – yes it’s been a bit quiet lately. After Dad’s surgery and all I just seemed to have lost my blogging mojo and it deosn’t seem to want to come back yet. Dad is doing well but we’ll know more after his appointment in December as to what they may be doing with him next. I’m hoping nothing too scary. Anyhow I think with the stress and all I maybe needed a bit of a break. Hopefully within the next few weeks I start to feel more like blogging again.
I also wanted to tell you about a blog hop I’ll be participating in come December. It’s the 1st Annual Historical Holiday Blog Hop and it’ll be running from December 10-17 and it’s being hosted by one of my favorite bloggers and that’s Amy from Passages to the Past. There will be lots of giveaways from bloggers and authors so be sure to pop by not only my blog, but also over to Passages to the Past to visit all the great blogs that will be participating. If you’re interested in participating head over and check out the post on Amy’s blog.
Well that’s it for today. I’m going to spend the day much like Sammy up at the top of the post except I’ll be reading and finishing up The Emperor’s Conspiracy by Michelle Diener. I have a review up tomorrow and let’s just say I’m really enjoying it! What are you all spending your day doing?
I’d say winter arrived early this year! Love the pics, Dar. That Sammy is so cute!! Nice to see your post today. Enjoy your reading day.
Hi Dar! Sammy is too cute in these pics. You’ve got so much snow over there, how pretty it looks! Glad to hear you are well and your dad is doing good.
I haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet, and I never venture out to the stores on Black Friday. But tomorrow being Cyber Monday I will be doing some online shopping.
Enjoy your Sunday.
Wow, it’s been pretty warm here up until last night. I feel bad for whining because it’s only supposed to get up to 14C here today.
I’m still praying for your dad!
Look at all that snow! Our temperatures have dropped dramatically in the past couple of days so if it stays this cold I’m hoping we get a little snow too! (I’m kinda nutty like that…I love the snow) I’m glad to hear that your Dad is doing well. You guys have been in my prayers. And Sammy is adorable as always 🙂 I’m glad to hear that you are doing well Darlene!
Wow, that is a ton of snow, and I’m so glad that your dad is doing well so far. I hope that continues to be the case…and boy is Sammy a ham with all those pictures of snow. He must love it.
I am so envious that you got nearly all your Xmas shopping done. We did a little bit of little shopping items for the kiddo and The Girl as Anna calls her. I’ve gotten some other things for Anna and her hubby too, but its all just small stuff at this point. I’m afraid to say Christmas will be a bit of a hard one for us this year with all that has happened, but I hope to at least keep it merry for Wiggles.
Hi Dar. I think Sammy looks adorable in his snow gear. He’s just plain precious. I absolutely hate snow. The only time that I like it is on Christmas Eve & Day if it’s a little dusting of it. The very first snow of the season is always pretty looking to me but that’s about it. If I had a cute dogie like Sammy to play with in it that might help. My crazy cat whose name is Sam loves the snow once he gets used to it. I’ll have to go out with him this year. Who knows, maybe I’ll have fun playing in it with him. Wouldn’t that be wonderful. I hope that your Dad is doing much better. I know what a awful stress that puts on everyone. My Mom-in-law just went through all of that and it wiped us all out. I hope that he’s doing much better. I keep you all in my prayers
Take care, keep warm & God Bless….Diane
I have no idea how I managed to put 2 comments on here other than there was a black cat crawling over me as I was writing. Sorry about that though. If you take the 2 comments and average them out you will probably get the whole idea. Have a happy & safe week running around on that snow.
I thinl Sammy looks adorable in his snow gear. He’s just plain precious. I absolutely hate snow. The only time that I like it is on Christman Eve if it’s a faint dusting of it. Glad to hear that your dad did well with his surgery. I’m sure you’ll be relieved when that December appointment arrives just to know what is next for him. The waiting and wondering part is so hard. Hope he gets good news!
I finished Diener’s book yesterday and really enjoyed it 🙂
I’m so glad to know that your dad is doing well. I’ve often thought about him (and you, too).
You certainly have a winter wonderland, Dar! And Sammy is just so cute! Love his snow outfit! LOL
That first snowfall is so special each year; thanks for sharing the photos, and also Dar, I was happy to hear about your dad doing well.
So lovely to see the beautiful snow in your pictures! I don’t want it here yet. LOL. Glad to know your dad is doing better and hope for a good report at the next appointment. I spent my day like Sammy on the couch fighting a migraine. Indulging during the holiday is not my friend.
Wow … you did get hit with a ton of snow!! I love seeing Sammy enjoying it. I can’t wait for Romeo and Juliet to get nice good snow so they can play in it. They haven’t really had a good snowstorm in their lives yet. Keeping fingers crossed!!!
And I think it is very understandable that you lost your blogging mojo. It happens and real life is the first thing that will take you away from it. I’m glad your dad is doing OK and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the next big appointment.
And you got your shopping done … SO JEALOUS! I need to get in gear. I think I’m in denial that it is actually that time of year already.
Those pictures of the snow are so beautiful! But, I don’t miss winter weather at all! And, your Sammy is as handsome as ever! Today? Wicked lazy and I love it!
Sammy has the right idea with the winter coat and all!! You should have seen Lily and Daisy this morning running around in the snow!! Yep, Matt would move there in a heartbeat with all of that snow!!! I pretty much didn’t leave the house since Wednesday afternoon and loved every single homebody minute. I hate shopping and can’t stand the idea of mobs fighting over STUFF. I avoid Black Friday at all costs. It doesn’t do anything for me and I could care less how much money I save. Marc and I did venture out today. I bought him some clothes, we had lunch together, and of course, we ended the day at B&N!! Hope you have a great week and that your Dad is feeling better!! Take it easy, my friend!
I go to school in Florida, and it’s still in the 60/70s and it’s so nice! I went to NYC for the weekend and it was colder there, but it still hadn’t snowed. I’m from MO so I do have tough MO blood, but I prefer the warmer weather. Love your pictures of the snow and the trees and of Sammy. He’s such a cute dog.
OMG look at that snow! It was in the 40’s this morning which is not all that common for FL but still! I’m cold just looking at your pictures. I love Sam’s snowy nose!
Love the pictures of Sam! He is such a cute devil!
We haven’t got snow yet but I can’t say I feel bad about it.
I’ve been thinking about you and your folks alot. You will stay in our prayers.
Darcy and Sophie say hi to you and Sammy!
I’m so glad to hear that your Dad is doing well after the surgery… hoping for more good news at the December appointment!
Well my Canadian friend I am very sorry that you got so much snow so soon! It feels like you just got rid of snow. Does make for pretty pictures though 🙂 Poor Sammy! he’s a pupsicle!
Glad your Dad is home for a while. and home his new pacemaker is making him feel better. You are both in my thoughts.
And I understand about the blogging mojo. Sometimes life is messy and we need a break. No worries and blog when you can and feel like it 🙂
Hey girl! Wow you have some serious snow!We have had flurries but nothing to shout about.
I am so glad your dad is doing well. Just one baby step at a time!
Some very nice pictures there! I like the pictures of the snow as long as it is not my house, LOL 🙂
I am going to check out that reading challenge.
I am going to post your interview on Friday, so be sure to come check it out.
Glad to hear your dad is doing well. I think you’re entitled to take a blog break every now and then. 😉 I had such a busy October with my husband’s grandmother passing and a busy November with my mom visiting that I lost my reading mojo, but it’s coming back now. ((HUGS))
