Today I have a spotlight on a book that I’ve started reading but haven’t been able to finish yet due to my dad being in the hospital again. If you’re the praying kind any and all prayers are appreciated. On another note I wanted to let you all know I’m having trouble with my posts in google reader so if you follow that way I just want to let you know that most of the time my posts don’t seem to be updating so please keep in mind that I am posting daily so maybe you can follow another way as well until I can get it fixed when I have the time.
Now on to A Place For Us by Liza Gyllenhaal which I am enjoying but wasn’t able to finish in time to have a review for you all so you’ll have to settle for a book spotlight and giveaway. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading any of Liza’s other work although I’ve heard many good things about it and after reading this one I’ll be sure to pick up her others. So check out the book spotlight and make sure to enter the giveaway at the end of the post for a chance to win your own copy.
About A Place For Us by Liza Gyllenhaal
Two years ago, Liza Gyllenhaal hit the ground running with amazing reviews and endorsements for her debut novel Local Knowledge. The following year, So Near was called “intriguing”, “wonderful” and a “damn fine novel”. Now, her third and highly anticipated A PLACE FOR US (Berkley Trade Paperback; March 5, 2013) tells a piercing new story about the secrets and lies that threaten a close-knit family.
Brook and Michael Bostock abandoned their fast-paced lives in Manhattan after 9/11, trading in the city for the more relaxed atmosphere of Michael’s small hometown in western Massachusetts . Brook, the daughter of an extremely prominent and wealthy New York family, is able to continue operating her event planning business, while Michael is finally able to build his own business making high-end furniture. But their seemingly peaceful lives are turned upside down when a teenager is sexually assaulted at a party their son throws while they are away.
The scandal receives national attention—not only because of Brook’s family name, but also because of the lawsuit looming against Brook and her husband, that alleges they are responsible for what happened that night. Suddenly, the small Massachusetts town they call home seems to turn against them, revealing the simmering jealousies and resentments that have been lurking under the surface all along.
With their once-perfect family in danger of falling apart, Brook and Michael must find a way to get through this together—or risk losing everything they love.

I’m quite intrigued because of the legal aspects and I’m curious to know the community’s reactions. I’ve actually witnessed this same kind of event in my town when I was younger. It wasn’t a sexual assault but a drunk driving incident that was unfortunately fatal for two teenagers. The community’s reaction was quite interesting to say the least.
I would love to win. And I already follow your blog.
I worked with a couple who worked nights and they came home to thier home being surrounded by yellow crime tape. A murder– a non-permitted party. The horror is unbelievable and the trama to the family seems like forever.
