Girl Unmoored by Jennifer Gooch Hummer: Spotlight & Giveaway (US only)

April 24, 2013 by Darlene

To brighten up the middle of the week I’m spotlighting Girl Unmoored by Jennifer Gooch Hummer today!  Girl Unmoored is a cross-over YA/women’s fiction novel that sounds so good and I can’t wait to have some time to fit it into my own reading schedule.  In the meantime I’m going to share what the book is about with you as well as a bit on the author.  Of course there is a giveaway at the end of the post so be sure to check it out for your chance to win a copy of Girl Unmoored.

Girl Unmoored

Set in 1985 Maine, GIRL UNMOORED is about a young girl, Apron Bramhall, adrift in an emotional sea of chaos. Her mother has died, her father is about to marry a wicked witch and her best friend has dumped her for a newer model. Then she meets “Jesus”—the actor who plays him in Jesus Christ Superstar—and his boyfriend, Chad. They offer her a summer job in their flower shop. When Apron discovers Chad’s secret, coming of age becomes almost too much to bear. She’s forced to see things the adults around her fail to—like what love really means and who is paying too much for it.

Apron (what a terrific name!) sounds like a gal ready to discover some new adventures in her life. Gay guys can be the best friends women can ever have. I’m betting that “Girl Unmoored” is going to be a really winner and I cannot wait to read it. Thanks for sharing. I’ve put it on my Wish List!

I’d love a chance to read “Girl Unmoored” by Jennifer Gooch Hummer! Also, as it’s a YA/women’s fiction crossover novel, I’d like to read this aloud WITH my 13-year old niece Sarah, as I’ve been doing everything I can to encourage her to read more. Perhaps by reading a great book like this together, she’ll finally discover/understand the magic that can only be found in the pages of a great book! Ironically, Sarah JUST got a summer job at her local flower shop, so this sounds PERFECT for us!! Yaaay!

P.S. I’m a follower of your blog! Thank you!!

I’ve had my eye on this one since I first saw it; I’ve not read anything negative at all – lots of praise and no pans. It’s already on my to-buy list, so winning would be a plus!
