Ocean Beach is by one of my favorite authors and that is Wendy Wax! Ocean Beach is the sequel to Ten Beach Road (my review) which I loved so of course I was excited to get back to these ladies and their next adventure and I wasn’t disappointed. I had as much fun with Ocean Beach and these ladies as I did before. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Amy Rubinate and she does a fantastic job. I liked the tone of her voice and she kept me wanting to continue listening instead of doing what I should have been.
Madeleine, Nicole, and Avery never seemed like they should be friends. When they started out in the first novel they were strangers and really didn’t even like each other. Over time though they formed somewhat of a bond as each is dealing with their own issues in their lives. In Ocean Beach we get to know them all a little better and I enjoyed that as I really like all the ladies. Madeleine is the mother hen of everyone and I think she’s probably my favorite.
Anyhow in this novel the ladies are off to Miami’s South Beach neighborhood to restore a once very grand historic home. The catch is this time they’ll be doing it on a television show called Do-Over. All the ladies have a lot banked on this show as it can help them in various ways to put their lives back together. As we know though things seldom go as planned and soon enough the ladies realize that not only is the renovation being broadcasted to the nation, but so are their personal lives and it isn’t long before things begin to unravel.
Wendy Wax has a way with portraying all the intricacies of women’s friendships. Her novels never fail to hold my attention and I haven’t run across one I haven’t liked. This was the first one of her books I’ve listened to though and I have to say it really added to my enjoyment of the book. I find that audios really bring a story alive for me and I love that. Ocean Beach is another winner for me!

I’ll have to see if the library has the one. Thanks for sharing,
This is on my list, Dar. I enjoyed the first book. Now you have me thinking about using an audible credit 🙂
I once almost picked up a Wendy Wax and then put it down. Don’t know why..I like some chick-lit and contemporary women’s fiction. I think I will pick up a book by her soon and give it a try. Sounds like something I would enjoy–thanks for sharing this.
My book club is discussing this book in July but I can’t find any discussion questions. Do you know of any? Not on readinggroupguides.com… 🙁
So glad you enjoyed this. I’ve never read Wax’s novels, but recently added While We Were Watching Downton Abbey to my audio wish list!
Darlene, I’m glad you enjoyed listening to this one. It sounds like a terrific book! 🙂
So glad to hear you enjoyed this novel and that you seem to like audiobooks as well. I need to start trying them myself.
I really loved this one too!
I listened to Wendy Wax’s latest novel and really liked it. I would read or listen to this one too.
I’ve got one of this author’s books on my shelves just waiting to be read. Sounds like I should get to it sooner rather than later 🙂 What a great review!!
Is this a good book club read? I’m intrigued.
I’m gone to inform my little brother, that he should also pay a visit this web site on regular basis to obtain updated from newest gossip.
OOOOOOOOOHHHH! I didn’t know this was a sequel! Maybe I would have liked it better if I had read the first book!
Come read my review, its in my speed reviewing post.
