The Highlander’s Conquest by Eliza Knight is the second in The Stolen Bride series and I enjoyed this one just as much as I did The Highlander’s Reward. Once again I listened to the audiobook narrated by Corrie James who is fast becoming a favorite of mine. She just has such a great voice and perfectly acts out all the different nuances of her characters. While these books are part of a series it’s important to note that they would stand alone quite well.
In The Highlander’s Conquest Blane Sutherland has been tasked with bringing Lady Aliah de Mowbray to Scotland to be with her sister Arbella and their father. He disguises himself as an Englishman and presents Aliah with a missive from her father requesting that she go with him. Needing to know that her sister and father are safe and well she agrees. Needless to say that when Blane reveals himself to be a highlander Aliah is incensed and takes action. Now I’m not going to say what action but I will say it was very funny.
Aliah is a little spitfire like her sister Arbella and can certainly take care of herself despite having been sheltered her whole life. Just give her a bow and arrow and she’ll enlighten you. However she’s vowed to give her life over to God and the church and yet she can’t deny the ever awakening desires of her body. Could it be love? For Blane who is as roguish as they come he feels a powerful attraction to Aliah but his older brother Magnus would kill him for going near her. Blane has never really cared for a woman but somehow Aliah is working her way into his heart. There is nothing to do but push her away as he is most definitely not good enough for such a sweet soul as Aliah. Will they end up together or not?
Who can resist a highlander? Especially the Sutherland men. That’s what I say. Eliza’s books are such a sweet escape for a few hours! They are fun, sweet, sexy, and great to listen to! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two in the series and full intend to enjoy the rest as well! As a note there is a lot of hanky panky going on for my readers who just aren’t into that. If you are though and enjoy a good historical romance check out Eliza Knight’s books and enjoy!

Can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone look like that north of the border. It’s a bit chilly up there.
Looks like a fun read.
