I have been reading Sara Shepard’s Pretty Little Liar series for a few years now so I was really excited to read her newest novel introducing new characters and an exciting new storyline. In The Heiresses we meet the Saybrooks family who run an extremely successful diamond empire. Needless to say they have it all – good looks, money, and power. Yet something or someone is threatening it all and one by one the Saybrooks seem to be dying mysterious deaths.
It all starts when Poppy jumps from the window of her office killing herself. Anyone close to her can’t believe she would do that as she had everything to live for. They learn soon enough that they are correct in thinking that when they receive a frightening warning that says ‘one heiress down, four to go’. So now what? Was Poppy murdered? And what does that mean for the rest of them? Is it someone in the family trying to get rid of the heiresses?Things become even more real when certain things happen that leave the heiresses scared for their lives.
I don’t want to say anything more plot wise because that would ruin the mystery of the novel for anyone who will read it. I love Sara’s novels because they depict a lifestyle that I will never live but enjoy reading about but more than that is the mystery that she winds throughout her plot that leaves you guessing. To make things even better the guessing goes on long past the ending as it leaves the reader with a cliffhanger that has you yearning desperately for the next book in the series.
I really enjoy listening to Sara’s books so I picked up the audiobook for myself and it was great. It’s narrated by Ilyana Kadushin who is new to me but I thought she was just perfect for the reading of this book. I love a narrator who keeps my attention and makes me hurry back to listen to more! The Heiresses is a great story and I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series to find out what happens. Highly recommended!

Oh, power, money, and diamonds? That sounds right up my alley!
LOL Kathy. I agree!
This sounds like a fun book! I’ve never read the Pretty Little Liar series, but I’ve seen most of the first season of the show. It’s very entertaining.
I’ve never watched the show Wendy but I keep thinking I really should. I’ve gotten up to book seven or eight and I think there are fifteen so I have a long way to go yet. I bet the show is really good though!
I can see why this would be a good audiobook. Glad you liked it!
Mary, I did like it but then I like this author a great deal already.
It looks like a wonderful audio – I love trying new narrators
Sheila, it was a good audio. I’m the same with trying new narrators – it’s always great when you find a new one that you know you’d love to listen to again.
The combination sounds intriguing.
Mystica it was a good story with a mystery behind it. Really good listening to for me.
I have never listened to the Pretty Little Liars either, but probably should. This sounds like an interesting book. Is it the start of a new series?
I remember Ilyana Kadushin from the Twilight series, and to me she will always be Bella Swan. I thought she did a great job on those books.
Carla, yes The Heiresses is the start of a new series and probably will be of more interest to a more adult crowd as the Pretty Little Liars series starts with the girls as teens.
I never did listen to the Twilight series as I read them but I bet they are great on audio. Now you’ve made me want to listen to them on audio. I’m going to see if the library has them. Anyhow I really like Kadushin. She had a great voice for this audio and I’d love listening to her again.
I’m excited to read this one now after reading your review! I have it on my shelves and am planning on picking it up soon. I’ve never tried this author before but it sounds like I should have 🙂 Great review!
Sam. I really enjoy Shepard’s Pretty Little Liar series so I figured I’d like this one too. It’s fun to read about the rich and famous once in a while and live vicariously through the pages of my book. lol.
I’m glad you enjoyed the audio version – I’m always thrilled to learn about new narrators!
Thanks for being a part of the tour.
